For your consideration Yes the SRBs are only on one side I managed to fly it rock solid with mechjeb PVG guidance and decently enough manually. DCSS burn time is cut from 15 mins to 7.5 with the dual engine mount I used the LDC to Atlas fairing mount adapter with a bit of clipping on the tank dome here. But a proper wide body fairing solution will be made at some point. I've been meaning to make a 3.75m fairing for use with LDC. I can work on something that will suit both. And no this isnt me just being weird, this is from the payload planners guide

Unfortunately B9 mirror symmetry doesnt seem to work with attach nodes. So it needs to be built without symmetry. Luckily there arent too many parts in the CBC build anyway. I may end up removing that subtype since you can just use the attach node on the opposite side of the tank without any rotation needed. Surface attaching other tanks is a little janky on the decoupler at the moment but I'll try to fix it so its more useful for other builds like with ldcs tanks etc. Documented here:

Delta IV alpha build is up on the github. Theres still some polish to be done and balance isnt final yet. Some parts and features like switcheable tank lengths will come later. But in the meantime please test and enjoy Please highlight any problems on on the github issue: https://github.com/CobaltWolf/Bluedog-Design-Bureau/issues/940 Oh do note that although DCSS ended up monolithic like the smaller one, we do have a dual engine mount as per the potential option in the payload planners guide that no one ever paid for to make IRL. It can take 2 RL-10B2s while still fitting in a 3.125m interstage.

1/4 of real world thrust and real world Isp as per usual rules vacuum figures for KSP RS68 - 842 kN and 409s RS68A/B 889kN and 411s yes it seems the white nozzle RS68B had the same performance as the A model, the new ablator enabled a longer burn time for the Ares V mission and it also included modification specific to human rating. But the performance improvements were taken from the A model. RS68 regen, based on figures I was provided from a DIRECT document, 911kN and 435s.
-
Its not entirely fictional, it was never made but was proposed/discussed at various levels of seriousness for Delta itself, for Ares V (I think) and even DIRECT. Its worth noting that the turbo machinery was designed with tolerances supporting running a regen nozzle. But the ablative nozzle was used for cost reasons.

Thanks and yeah it was very difficult and not at all enjoyable to work on unlike the rest of the engine. I think the area around the vernier looks pretty good and the other side is probably just ok. Allowances have to be made for KSP cylinders being 24 sided so have to start with that as a base even if the polycount is higher in those scooped areas. Also adjustments had to be made to get it to look not horrible with KSPs rather bad shadow system.

A little sneak peak for you guys: Left to right, RS68 and 68A, RS68B, RS68 Regen Mounting options, Top to bottom, left to right Boattail open, Boattail insulated, boattail + medium plus collar, compact (with cut down heat exchanger and exhaust pipes, no roll gimbal), and standard bare mount. = Emissives

[KSP1.12.x] RealPlume - Stock v4.0.8 & RealPlume v13.3.2 [25/JUN/2021]
Zorg replied to Zorg's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm just working on the update and I'm not seeing a problem with the stock poodle. Did you mean stock or restock? Theres some problems with the restock one due to the big difference in bell size and theres no plume switching in the stock systme without multimode. I cant fix that entirely unfortunately but can adjust the plume size to fudge it a little. Similarly both stock and restock kickback boosters seem fine with the ESA switch using the existing configs from what I can see? -
[1.12.5] Restock - Revamping KSP's art (August 28)
Zorg replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
If you're deleting RealPlume you should make sure to remove both RealPlume and RealPlume-Stock. Likely reason that might happen after removing is if one of those or parts of those are still in your gamedata. -

I didn't write that config although it is a fairly complex one. perhaps @Scialytic can take a look at some optimizations in the future? I'll put a copy of the old config in the folder for the next update so people who have trouble with it can revert to it (by deleting the current config and renaming the extension of the old config). But the current one will remain the default. I spose so. I believe it uses multiple fx transforms so you could make use of them. I meant to try and have a go at it but just got too busy with other things. It could be tricky to keep the performance under control so be mindful of that when making it. Unfortunately as I mentioned to the other user I don't know the cause of this. As far as I can tell the configs have nothing in them that would cause it. So it could either be a smokescreen issue or some kind of KSP issue. -
The huge size of this update is just the way things turned out due to various internal factors but there wont be any additional scope creep beyond whats currently on the github tracking issues. The F1B in particular was a very spontaneous thing following a suggestion from Pappystein on Cobalts stream. In fact the only real big addition to the update was Delta IV but you guys want that right??? I dont remember whats up with the naming conventions since the BDB one is called 8096C and this one refers to L, but this is the paper. The shuttle recovers the Agena after it returns to the shuttle parking orbit following payload deployment to a higher orbit. The strapon tanks are expected to be recovered but can be optionally jettisoned if the mission needs more performance. https://ntrs.nasa.gov/citations/19740024172 I am straight out denying it! No one on the team has even so much suggested a shuttle or a spaceplane of any sort for BDB!!
-
He did it because it was a direct derivative of an existing engine and it was easy to add in using the existing powerhead. It doesnt have to match a specific IRL rocket that belongs in BDB much the same way the 8096C agena engine (meant for resuable Shuttle agena) doesnt imply there will be a BDB shuttle. Most importantly its a very cool looking engine. For similar reasons I am making the white nozzle RS68B which was planned for Ares V but you can be sure there will not be a BDB Ares V . Not until the Saturn revamp begins.

[KSP1.12.x] RealPlume - Stock v4.0.8 & RealPlume v13.3.2 [25/JUN/2021]

I've just been too busy to attend to this, I'll try and get to the new stock and restock plumes over the coming weekend. -
I havent actually been playing KSP much recently, I mostly modding when in a KSP mood and playing other games the rest of the time . I have a bare bones 1.10.1 install just for testing. I believe my TUFX configs should still be valid in KSP 1.10+ if TUFX hasnt had any major changes. The skirt extension seems a reasonable ask, I will look into it when doing the boattail, I think it should be quite straightforward. With respect to the base boattail I likely wont be doing the final bit of flexible insulation at the very bottom (ie the part below said seam). It will most likely be open at the bottom like the CryoEngines one.
-
Yeah those are all way out of scope for BDB . Its probably only a matter of time before someone makes a stockalike Vulcan, Tundra's F9 is excellent imo and idk how Benjee's STS could leave anyone anyone wanting, that texture is beyond my level for sure. Its a shame reDirect doesnt have EUS but like I said its really not on the cards. Not decided yet, but I will be investigating the possibilities. Theres a couple of factors that make it a bit tricky including the various connections from the interstage stuff to the upper tank, and not wanting to cut the upper tank in half due to how the texture might look. But I think something can be worked out. Most likely the hydrogen tank will be separate and I can mess with the connection termination points a little to make sure its legoable with other tanks (LDC etc)

I literally havent given a thought to anything apart from Delta IV, Mariner 10 and the remaining fairings and structural bits listed on github. Theres no fixed division of labour as such, I will be contributing more in the future but idk what. If you're asking if I am going to be doing other modern rockets the answer is no. Delta IV is being made because Atlas V (being the other original EELV) is also in BDB and I thought it would be nice to round off the big Delta update with the final one. Its also nearly a historical rocket at this point with 5 launches left ( ). I think others have cleared up the confusion. I just wanted to point out that the main difference between Delta IV DCSS and the ICPS used on SLS is a slightly stretched hydrogen tank which I think I might add in as a variant.
-
What would you give you that idea? My understanding is that the pill bottles were all Helium pressurant bottles? And yeah the boattail will be tricky for clean geometry It will be hydrolox of course, BDB has native hydrolox configs. I'll be honest I had missed the connection there. I was under the impression a regen nozzle for RS68 was vaguely discussed during the Constellation era? I didnt find much in the way of sources though. In any case the original constellation white ablative nozzle is planned. I kind of winged the nozzle, directly SSME inspired. Glad to see the look of the nozzle isnt too far off. That said the RS83 powerhead even if derived from the RS68 looks quite different. Not sure I would call the regen version in game that, I'm thinking even a fictional C designation might be more appropriate.

Just uploaded the following to 1.7 dev Vega fairing. Available on most of the 1.875m sized bases Added an optional wall segment to the Centaur early fairing. The pic below shows two stacked wallsegments. For the 3.125 to 3.5m LDC adapter fairing base, there is now a shorter variant of the Atlas V fairing without the Centaur section. And a slightly upscaled version of the Titan IV fairing is also available on that base now
