[1.8.1-1] [PLEASE FORK ME] Kopernicus & KittopiaTech
fulgur replied to Thomas P.'s topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I was mainly asking as in the file it says "KSP_VERSION": { "MAJOR": 1, "MINOR": 7, "PATCH": 1 } so I was wondering whether there really was something incompatible with the 1.7.2 patch which would summon the Kraken or whether it was just displaying that message because it's a massive mod which will eat half your ships if the planet they're orbiting / landed on disappears. -
[1.8.1-1] [PLEASE FORK ME] Kopernicus & KittopiaTech
fulgur replied to Thomas P.'s topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Ksp 1.7.2, Kopernicus 1.7.1 - 5 "This Mod is incompatible with the current version of KSP. Please do not try to open your saved games." Can I ignore this or will I have to wait for the update? Thanks in advance. -

I finally decided to finish a mission I had from ages ago. Album here: https://imgur.com/gallery/YmlPs6b Landed on Rald (from Rald mod by Kerik Balm) And then on Minmus And then on the Mun... And back on Kerbin. Thus ends my Kerbin-4 Mission. I didn't do a write-up because I am BORED with this ship it is a RUBBISH aircraft which flies like a BRICK and I am NOT putting it on KerbalX even though it is an ISRU-equipped Minmus-capable SSTO. I have better SSTOs on KerbalX if you really want them.

I was joking, but it would be really cool. And semi-plausible. If they made a flat area, say with Kerbal Konstructs, they could build a train which would fit the area. It would have to involve hundreds of reaction wheels and probably fuel cells, along with engines to provide steam. Or the gas turbine generator from WBI, which produces a lot of steam. If they attaches docking ports onto free-moving pivots, he could dock several carriages of passengers, cargo and fuel. If they found a flat enough route, they could potentially take a train ride for several kilometers. In fact that would be so cool someone has to build it. EDIT: What would be the coolest thing ever would be... STEAM TRAIN SSTO EDIT EDIT: The 1869 Steampunk mod by Fengist

Next up: Triop goes intercontinental in a STEAM TRAIN. That would actually be really cool.

DLC controller workflow suggestions
fulgur replied to Klapaucius's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I realise that the info is presumably stored in craft files and would require quite a major change, so I understand it is not exactly easy, but I would really like to be able to: - Save the different programs externally, so you can load them on different craft with similar mechanisms (IE If i build an exploration walker and a ore transport walker, I want to be able to access the program from both) - Be able to load multiple programs on one craft, so that one can switch from Function A (say, loading ore tanks onto the back of my hypothetical transport walker) and Function B (walking my walker around). This would make it much easier to make hordes of semi-identical robot walker armies with robotic catapaults. And also, you know, useful stuff. -
Voyage - The Final Warning (Chapters 34-36 And Epilogues)
fulgur replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Wow. As I said before, I wish I could give you more rep. About 100 per chapter. I also want to add that this made me feel almost as worried as when Tedus nearly crashed in E:O0. (I would have been more worried had you released the news that she surived several weeks later). That is my highest praise for a fan-fiction work. -

I believe I read about something called the mekon... can't remember what it was though. EDIT: Looked it up. I stake my claim upon any and all KSP Fanworks based (however loosely) upon that story. -

What is this 'middle school' you speak of? Is it like secondary school? Or is it something completely different? (In England we have Primary school (Year 1 to Year 6), then Secondary school (Year 7 to Year 11, when you do your GCSEs) and finally 6th Form college (Year 12 to Year 13, when you do your A-Levels.)) -

Flash, ah-ah, saviour of the universe! Flash, ah-ah, he saved every one of us! Flash, ah-ah, he's a miracle! Flash, ah-ah, kerb of the impossible! -
You could mount the engines on servos, so it could VTOL :-) Actually, that would be good for climbing as you could use it to decelerate down the mountain.
-
Nice! Will it be able to climb the ice shelves at the poles?
-
A little VTOL SSTO, with the engines on servos so I can decelerate while keeping the intakes the right way round. Also a cargo ship for things which are too wide to fit in Mk3 bays.

Built a rover which is very safe and not at all explodey. It actually looks like a car! Could probably be fine-tuned a little but I put it on KerbalX anyway. Edit: Wow, Triop liked one of my posts! I am honoured! -
Landed a probe on Rald, continued from my previous post. Link to the post will now be in my signature.

So I decided to write up the first section of what will probably be my last proper mission before I get the DLC. Next, I am halfway through surveying the Ancient Airport microbiome. Hopefully it will be flat and easy to land on.

Oh no, they enjoy snacks. It's just they don't need them to live. USI Life Support got it right - they don't die of no snacks, they just go on strike.

If you're going so fast you nearly escape the solar system... you're going too fast. If you do some fine manouvering you can have a velocity of only a few hundred m/s from orbit, which means you won't overshoot. Try setting the Mun as your target and creating a 850-900 m/s burn, and fiddle around with it until the target markers line up and you get a periapsis. That should have a much smaller relative velocity.
