  1. I see... Played 1.3.1 for I-don't-know-how-long, switched to 1.7.x finally then. Curious: what mods do you miss in particular?
  2. I don't have a KSP crash dump on my PC, but it should be either here: C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\CrashDumps or here: C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\LocalLow\Squad\Kerbal Space Program\Crashes
  3. If you have a crash.dmp file, I'm happy to check with a debugger, sometimes the result points to what went wrong.
  4. Now that words almost prompt me to say another thing outside the common narrative
  5. You do remember those 1s-stutters every 20s or so before 1.8 then, eh? So glad that is a thing of the past.
  6. For me, tilde is "ALT GR" - "+" Perfect example of different kb layouts, isn't it?
  7. Exactly what this thread is meant for, my friend, venting some steam! And yes, I do have a quite distinguished opinion myself regarding the current C-related "issues", but as this would almost instantly turn into a heated discussion (to say it mildly), unfortunately I can't write it here. Feel free to send me a PM anytime though.
  8. As per my experience, what requires (and eats ) RAM are mostly part mods, as well as anything with big textures. TMI But yes, that's exactly what I do here as well, when the RAM consumption hits some 20+ GB. By the way, I also highly recommend the Heap Padder mod from @linuxgurugamer if you have 16 or more GB of RAM, prevents GC related crashes 99% of the time (which I had before almost every 30 minutes).
  9. which is the real question here, yes. I don't have that many mods myself, just a little over 100, but I do have a couple of multi-part part mods, and they do eat a lot of RAM, right after starting, KSP takes 16GB, and it grows easily to 20+ GB after 1-2h.
  10. It depends on your keyboard layout plus the key binding settings in KSP. For instance, on my German (QWERTZ) keyboard it's the ^ key, and in the settings.cfg it reads CAMERA_RESET { primary = Backslash And for a Swiss German keyboard, it's different again, § key.
  11. Oh yes, big relief, I was already afraid. Thank you very, very much! No way I could play like I want to without KIS/KAS.
  12. That even the most vile and mad people are still bound to the basic constrains of the laws of science.
  13. When I started with KSP, nothing I tried by myself worked, hence I went for MJ. Watched how it did landing on Mun. Slowly, even dim wit me began to understand. Fast forward, nowadays I always prefer to do all landings myself, much more control and precision. Translatron somehow never caught my attention, never used that, but now that you mention it, I really should try, thank you!
  14. Same here, and while I love the new KSP 1.11.0 features, I've already been reverting to 1.10.1 due to the many, and for me, game breaking bugs. I'm quite happy to stick with 1.10.1 for a good while, everything important works fine for me, and for the little issues (in particular fuel transfer), there are established workarounds.
  15. I tried to use that once (due to an "improvement", my Kerbals couldn't use the ladders anymore which were aligned bottom to bottom to bridge the gap of the ISRU unit. Hence I wanted to cheat a modified lander to the landing site), my lander though was flipped horizontally, no idea what went wrong here.
  16. You can check the transfer windows for stock KSP here: https://alexmoon.github.io/ksp/ Absolutely, yes: https://mars.nasa.gov/spotlight/porkchopAll.html In general, there are different methods to calculate the optimal time for a transfer, depending if you are orbiting the same CB (e.g. a vessel going from LKO to Mun, both, the vessel and Mun, are orbiting Kerbin) or not (e.g. a vessel going from LKO to Duna, one is orbiting Kerbin (which is orbiting Sun), while the target is orbiting the Sun itself).
  17. To build a relay network, you need relay capable antennas, the 88-88 is a direct, non-relay antenna. https://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Parts#Communication In career, I usually follow more or less this setup: https://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Tutorial:Setting_up_a_CommNet_system A sreenshot from a Dres satellite:
  18. Ok, thank you very much. In this case, I stick with better safe than sorry, already had some trouble with KSP 1.11 and had to revert to 1.10.1
