First I appreciate that you went through to tell the goverment your boss abused the program. More people should do it in such cases, so hats off! Second I don't think yours and Nates cases are the same. You didn't broke the contract with the goverment, your boss did. While Nate would break his NDA if he get too much in detail. In your case you were practically doing the goverment and other companys a favour since one bad actor couldn't abuse the program any more. But I don't believe that most companies would like to hire somebody with a known track record for failing projects and generate even more bad PR afterwards by talking too much about it. But they are! You and I can despite it as much as we want but that's the way it is. Hate the game, not the Player.

Every software development project is funded until it's not. I mean during the seven years there were quite a bit of changes in the world (be it political, economical or in other regards (covid)) so it's not totally wrong to assume that the beginning budget plus reasonable extra expenses will cut it. Until shtp and your funders decide to redraw their funding. This is not limited to the game industry btw. One of the greatest German shipyards (Meyer Werft Papenburg) usually doesn't get funding from their customers (which are mostly enterprises running cruise ships), they need to complete and deliver the ship before they get any penny. How are they doing it? By going to banks and ask for financing loans. If everything works fine they can build and deliver the ship, get their money and pay the loan back to the bank. Now during and after covid many of their customers got into financial trouble (since nobody wanted or was allowed to go on cruises) and cancelled their orders. Without orders the banks also didn't wanted to give them further loans, resulting in their announcment that if not something happens they would have to file for bankruptcy. Since many jobs were at stake and Germans navy don't want to relay to much on foreign suppliers the Government rescued them (for some conditions like moving back their seat to Germany (they went to Luxemburg some years ago due to work relation laws and taxes). I'm quite sure Meyer always said: Our next curise ships are completly funded (and they were, things always worked liked described earlier). Until they wasn't. Now Meyer had some advantage many other industries don't have: It's existence is deemed (by our politicians at least) important for the military capabilities of the German state so it wasn't very hard to find a majority of law makers to agree to rescuing them. Gaming industry however is not, how many tanks can you make by funding video games development? And not you get the wrong idea: Since politics is not allowed here, I won't comment whether I think it's a good or bad decision by our beloved government but it was the first example I could think of that claiming to be financial stable although you are only as long as your investors agree, is not limited to the video gaming industry

And risk a lawsuit because of it? Especially after such an epic blunder which might damage or destroy my career for a long time or completly I definitively woudn't risk my only hope to ever get a job again by breaking a NDA just to "address the community" of a video game. And I'm not only talking about the video game industry (that ship is propably sailed for him!): Any company won't hire people who are not only known for a failed project (which might still have a good explaination ) but also for breaking contracts. Failing at a project is one thing and often enough not the sole fault of one person. Breaking a contract is the decision of the person breaking it and obviously will hurt this persons long-time prospect on the job market. Apologizing to the team members is a different thing though (calls at 2 am seriously?!? I would quit on the spot if my boss would do such a thing in a non-emergency situation!) if he didn't manage that on their last common days at IG this would be quite a shame. But in the end it's between and his former team members. You or I don't really have a stake in it. Some folks think that this community "simping" is pathetic. I think it's quite more pathetic to expect people to risk lawsuits and their means of existence due to video games communities of all things. Nobody needs to like it but you can'T expect people to behave even more self-destructing than they already have.

Don't get me wrong: I would love to crash the PR/advertising industry and every Coke sniffing "creative mind" who makes their results the intelligence-insulting crap they are. But I doubt that this is possible ( even the so called socialist states had and have their Propaganda departments) and most people would agree that my peace of mind is worth destroying the jobs of everyone in the advertising/pr industry.

I don't care about take two and it's shareholders. But I care a lot about techworkers who lost their jobs since I'm a tech guy myself and can relate how they are feeling right now. And I don't care at all about "angry gamers" aka male entitled Teenagers who call for review bombing the profiles of former KSP2 Staff on linkedin/xing etc. This in incredible lame ( because it shows they have way to much time and obviouvsly no way to spend it ) and dumb ( companys will know that the applicants were part of KSP2 in any case) at the same time.
