  1. You dont... if you arrive ahead of someone else, then they can decide ( or not ) to warp to the time you are at, and they might pause to work a maneuver when they do they have total control of their time. There are problems with that system, that will have to be worked out like any system, but I like it better than others mentioned here.
  2. Well best would indeed be 3 to 5, but I am predicting 2 others beside Kerbal, with more coming later in DLC, and I will be quite happy with that, a game that starts out 3 times larger than KSP. I do however agree with theJesuit that the focus will be tech and systems, the new stars will be part of the perk of the DLC.
  3. well I can say I strongly prefer what Pthigrivi proposed, a system that does not need resyncing, where you control your own time warps and how you move though time without resynciing, Not that any of us have a vote, we dont, the devs will implement what they decide to.
  4. early game yeah, later when I have things heading to stations, and a large craft heading out to Jool, and in KSP2 perhaps a probe heading to another star system, and poof time and planet positions suddenly shift? That would be a nightmare. does resyncing stop when a maneuvering alarm goes off?
  5. Its fun when you get to decide what words mean yourself isnt it? Too bad that isnt how it works.
  6. with all my craft? it isnt like I am running one mission at a time
  7. You define multiple as 3-5? I have some education for you in the English language. If they only provided 1 other system, that would be multiple.
  8. Planets, stations, craft moving when you re-sync is indeed an issue if you do any planning ahead with your space program.
  9. Multiplayer for me is a side aspect of the game, not primary. However anyone in my community still playing KSP when paid DLC comes out will undoubtedly purchase it anyway. If you are playing the game that long, then you like it enough to add to it. Same here... easy and no regrets. I have certainly had that much enjoyment out of the game.
  10. Yes, planets will move, stations will move, craft will move anything that orbits over time will move. I would prefer a solution that does not have that issue.
  11. If they do not have an income stream post launch, that mean the support for the game dwindles over time to nothing. DLC is what kept KSP alive for so long, I expect the same for KSP2, be it systems, or tech or most likely both.
  12. 2 besides Kerbolar ... more coming with DLC later. After all they will need an income stream post launch if they plan to support the game long term. ( and I will be very pleased with that )
  13. That is the problem, but I like that more than the problem of re-syncing and all the planets and stations shift in their orbits to an unexpected position. Dont worry though, this is all conjecture, none of us know how they plan to do it... yet
  14. Yep there might be ways to help, if this was possible, it is by far the best solution I have heard of. ( to me ) No resyncing, shadow parts for future. There might have to be a rule that you cannot dock with someone elses craft if you are not in the same time, as you could change somethings past.
  15. Me as well, I see KSP as a single player game and that is what I will be doing with KSP2 as well, but as a part of a larger gaming community I know they are going to want me to host a multiplayer version, so I am interested in what they come up with.
  16. That is an interesting possibility, that could actually work. The biggest problem I see with all this is the ammount of data the multi-player game would have to hold, not only current position, but a careful record of all past positions on every single thing in the game. That is a whole lot of overhead. On the positive side however, that solution solves the issues that bothered me the most.
  17. Ok here is the problem, I might be in your future ( that you have not advanced to yet ) you have a base on the moon. You decide in your timeline to modify the base, but I am already in your future and cannot see the change you made.
  18. I am going to have to think about that, exactly what that would require. You are saying never resync. If you want me to meet you on Duna if you are already there, then you will have to advance your timeline to the point where I arrive there. That everyone is playing in the same universe at different times ( unless they intentionally timewarp to when another player is also there ). I was about to dismiss it out of hand... but... you have me thinking, that might resolve all issues. All my issues anyway.
  19. Just checked them out, same thing, when you Resync, someone is going to move in time and space... exactly what I have been saying about multiplayer.
  20. Regardless of if you look at it or not, time does indeed exist, because planets are orbiting their star over time, the moons are orbiting the planets over time, the craft and stations are in their orbits as well. It does not matter if you take the clock or the calendar away, time still exists.
  21. On your last point... no. If I arrive a year and a half in the future to a place in an orbit where you are now ( and you dont move a year and a half in the future ) someone WILL shift in time and space, dramatically when you sync up to meet.
  22. No biggie... ( it was not really directed at me ) But yeah... we know why many delays happened. It has been quite a ride for that team. But I will say I was quite pleased when KSP shut down and the team was shifted over to the new project... that bodes well ( at least to me )
  23. Yeah, I am hoping by the end of this year, but would not freak out if it was longer. On the main topic... I loved everything I saw in that video .... they have the right mindset for this game I think.
  24. LOL I dont have a solution, I only see the problem. The situations can be as simple or as complex as you want. It does matter very much to me where a planet is in its orbit, as I often plan long term, I boost to the planet in this position, do work there, they boost toward the next ( or home ). any solution that allows one person to time warp while another does not, is going to generate this issue. The solution is a compromise that one can either accept or decide not to do multiplayer as they choose, unless you buy into the whole "lets vote on a timewarp and everyone timewarps at once " which sounds good, but is terrible in practice. ( that is not something I advocate ) Time ( whether you track it or not ) is real, planets and craft move in orbits, and when one person time warps and another does not, the position in orbits are no longer in the same place for each player, re-syncing will shift someone forward or backward ( depending on the way you do it ) in time and space. You are saying the core of the game is no big deal... I disagree. Where a planet or station or craft is in its orbit is a very big deal ( at least to me ). The KSP game is navigation over time and space to a place in the future where these craft, planets, stations ( what have you ) line up. Now the compromises suggested may be good or bad depending on your personal perspective, for me I suspect ( but am not sure ) it will be a pretty big deal, for others perhaps not so much. I am not opposed to multiplayer, not at all, I play most games in multiplayer and am involved in a large gaming community. But I do see problems here, it will be interesting to see what they do, which compromises they decide to make. I will be watching with great interest. But in the end, no solution will affect my interest in KSP2 as a single player game Id love to play multiplayer, but we will see how they decide to manage that.
