  1. LOL I dont have a solution, I only see the problem. The situations can be as simple or as complex as you want. It does matter very much to me where a planet is in its orbit, as I often plan long term, I boost to the planet in this position, do work there, they boost toward the next ( or home ). any solution that allows one person to time warp while another does not, is going to generate this issue. The solution is a compromise that one can either accept or decide not to do multiplayer as they choose, unless you buy into the whole "lets vote on a timewarp and everyone timewarps at once " which sounds good, but is terrible in practice. ( that is not something I advocate ) Time ( whether you track it or not ) is real, planets and craft move in orbits, and when one person time warps and another does not, the position in orbits are no longer in the same place for each player, re-syncing will shift someone forward or backward ( depending on the way you do it ) in time and space. You are saying the core of the game is no big deal... I disagree. Where a planet or station or craft is in its orbit is a very big deal ( at least to me ). The KSP game is navigation over time and space to a place in the future where these craft, planets, stations ( what have you ) line up. Now the compromises suggested may be good or bad depending on your personal perspective, for me I suspect ( but am not sure ) it will be a pretty big deal, for others perhaps not so much. I am not opposed to multiplayer, not at all, I play most games in multiplayer and am involved in a large gaming community. But I do see problems here, it will be interesting to see what they do, which compromises they decide to make. I will be watching with great interest. But in the end, no solution will affect my interest in KSP2 as a single player game Id love to play multiplayer, but we will see how they decide to manage that.
  2. Yes I own KSP yes I have tired multiplayer and yes it is a compromise, the orbital position will shift for one person or another upon syncing., I never ever said remove time warp ( that was someone else ), what I said was it will be a compromise and things will shift for one player or another as far as orbits are conserned.
  3. Of course not, all I am saying is it will be a compromise, it has to be. The only alternative I can see would be to stop everything in its orbit, and I do not see that happening.
  4. Well the only way to handle it without the shifting of things dramatically from someone's perspective, is to vote and agree on timewarp, ( which of course generates it own problems ). Any other way you do it, someone is going to shift and planets and stations and anything else in orbit is going to shift. I am not advocating for the vote thing... that is also very problematic.
  5. I would be willing to pay that price I suppose for the multiplayer experience, but it would not be my primary game, that will likely always be my solo game. The example I gave was just for that scale, the same thing goes for extremely large and very small scale, the position of a station in orbit, the location of 2 folks small craft when they sync, someone is going to jump, perhaps even very far away.
  6. could play havoc with planned slingshot maneuvers ... woah all the planets just changed positions
  7. So what? In a game where the position of a planet now and in the future is the core of navigation? I do get what you are saying, as long as you understand what I am saying. For someone, time and space is about to shift to an unexpected position. That may be the price we pay for multi-player I do get that, but it is still an issue
  8. I did read it, again, when you sync up, for one player or the other Duna is about to massively move around the sun to a different position.
  9. My question remains, for whom did Duna's position just change? We see Duna in 2 different places in orbit around the sun, we cannot do a mission together if this continues to be true, for one of us time and position is gong to suddenly jump. I do understand that this just might be a price we pay for Multi-player
  10. It would NOT surprise me if it shipped with only 2 systems, ( and I would be fine with that ). Many games show things in development that are not in release ( but develop continues after release ). If KSP is going to be a long term Dev supported game, they will need an income stream post launch, which paid DLC is the least offensive ( to me anyway ). Not sure I agree with your quip timing ( although that would be nice ), but I would not worry that everything you see is going to expand the release timeline.
  11. let me expand on that a bit Lets take a situation ,I am on Kerbin planning to launch to Duna. You are on Duna I am going to timewarp more than a year to get my craft to Duna, you do not timewarp I planned my trip based on where Duna would be in the future ( a year from now ) which is in a totally different position around the sun from where you see Duna at Who jumps in space and time? Duna? Me? You? Someone has to jump in both space and time for us to link up and for Duna to be in a single place around the sun. Did I just mess up your planned return because Duna is now in a different place? Or did all my planning get flushed because I arrive at Duna in a place around the sun no were near where I expected?
  12. Any solution that allows one person to timewarp while another does not will have the same issues, as we are now in different timelines with planets and moons in different places. The core of the game is logistics and navigation to destinations based on where they will be in the future.
  13. I hope for a 2022 release, but not counting on it. I need this game done right, not just right now. This is the game I have been waiting for, and a buggy and incomplete release would be a whole lot worse than waiting longer would be. The only mistake the developers have made was speculating themselves on release timing, gamers are generally not mature enough to handle a projected date, they always take that as some kind of solemn promise.
  14. The price does not bother me at all, non-issue. My hope is that they capture what KSP is, and not lose that while expanding and improving the game, from what I have seen so far I am very encouraged. I am VERY pleased they are working to help modders, but to be honest, my first run though of KSP 2 will be with no mods whatsoever. The longevity of the game however will depend on the Modders and the developers support of that.
  15. Well after reading several announcements and watching several videos / interviews about Kerbal 2, most of my reservations ( not that there were all that many ) have disappeared. The creators are KSP players along with being developers and they seem to get what KSP is about. I am one of those that only play KSP in Career mode ( my style of play ) and love that it will be at least somewhat included, folded into the Science path. I prefer progression and working toward a future and working on specific missions. I like the challenges. I am very much looking forward to the release, and I hope you put quality ahead of schedule. I wont mind release dates moving, but I will mind a less than expected experience. Best of luck to the developers
  16. So looking forward to this, totally dependent on Mods in KSP now, looking forward to starting a fresh new game, no Mods and just see what you have built
