[1.9.x - 1.12.x] Precursors v1.8.0 -- NEW YEARS UPDATE
wpetula replied to wpetula's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
As of 1.1, Frontier has oxygen. If you want to switch the oxygen off, just go into the config for Frontier and set oxygen to "false". It's a super quick, easy fix.- 455 replies

99 or so ideas one should (or shouldn't) try in KSP
wpetula replied to Nazalassa's topic in KSP1 Discussion
2. Tired of wasting precious fuel on long interplanetary transfers? Looking for a way to quickly travel to other star systems? Then I have a solution for you. Just Use the debug menu to teleport your ship under the surface of a planet or moon Fall into the center of that planet or moon Success! Instant arrival to anywhere. (Flimsy ships are not advised) -

Good planet packs that replace the stock system?
wpetula replied to Sky Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
(Self promotion) This mod replaces the stock solar system with a wide variety of unique and challenging celestial bodies. Its science and lore expand upon the KSP story. Precursors has been majorly updated since its initial release. Hopefully this is something you might consider playing! -
[1.9.x - 1.12.x] Precursors v1.8.0 -- NEW YEARS UPDATE
wpetula replied to wpetula's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
You know...I really should make a diagram detailing the solar system and its many worlds. Now I have a fun project for the New Year! Since that diagram doesn't exist yet, some of the challenges in the mod involve -Intense heat -Extreme terrain -Gravity -Limited visibility -Etc. Using Scatterer adds even more content. Gameplay wise, the solar system is slightly smaller than the stock system. This decrease in size is balanced by an increase in celestial body quality. Each world was designed to be both challenging and fun. For example, the starting world (Frontier) is an icy Super-Kerbin with a thin but dense atmosphere. Also, all worlds are unique both aesthetically and dynamically. Don't worry about this pack being full of Dres clones!- 455 replies

I have a system replacement planet pack called Precursors compatible with KSP 1.12.3. Check out my forum page or Spacedock for the download! The mod adds a new solar system with a significant number of hand made, high-quality planets and moons to the game. Each celestial body contains an abundance of custom science and lore.

Jeb has been teleported using the debug menu so many times that I don't even know where he is.

A while back, I read about an interesting concept on xkcd's What If? https://what-if.xkcd.com/153/ Essentially, someone asked if it would be possible to put all of Earth's atmosphere inside a hole. A world with a displaced atmosphere sounded really cool to explore, so I wondered if it would work in KSP. Because atmospheres in KSP are global, a bit of terrain magic would be necessary to execute this idea. The planet or moon would need a thin atmosphere and an extremely deformed height map. That way, the air would only be located within deep craters or pockets. In-game, players would have to aim for the air pockets to ensure a safe landing. Or, they could go for the challenge of landing on the vacuum highlands. Lore-wise, there are several ways to explain the presence of the displaced atmosphere. If the planet or moon is too small to hold a significant atmosphere, the air could be supplied by volcanic activity or steady outgassing. Otherwise, the insane terrain would be enough of an explanation.

[1.9.x - 1.12.x] Precursors v1.8.0 -- NEW YEARS UPDATE
wpetula replied to wpetula's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Version 1.1 is released! POLISHING UPDATE Here we are, everyone! With the 1.1 update (labeled as 1.0.8 in the license, whoops) comes numerous bug fixes and, well, polish. -Updated Scar's terrain and normal map -Revamped Abyss' color map -Toned down Abyss' ocean and sky color without Scatterer installed -Fixed the floating KSC issue -Added oxygen to Frontier (while oxygen on Frontier is now part of the mod lore, feel free to go into the config and switch it off) -Added more science -Adjusted the distances at which some bodies orbit -Removed Serenity -Minor tweaks --------------------------------------------------------------- Precursors has reached a point where I am satisfied with it content-wise. The solar system may feel small, but I always prefer choosing quality over quantity. I am hoping to move on to a new project before the release of KSP 2*. That being said, Precursors will still receive bug fixes and patches. Major updates, if they happen, will be infrequent. Thank you everyone for your continued support and feedback! This was my first modding experience, and I had a great time. *EDIT: actually, I am going to continue making Precursors as amazing of an experience as possible. Look out for EVE and Parallex support in the coming months!- 455 replies

[1.9.x - 1.12.x] Precursors v1.8.0 -- NEW YEARS UPDATE
wpetula replied to wpetula's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The floating KSC is a bug I am currently trying to fix. As for the lack of oxygen on Frontier...that's a feature. Because numerous people have mentioned it at this point, I might add oxygen to Frontier in the next update.- 455 replies

[1.9.x - 1.12.x] Precursors v1.8.0 -- NEW YEARS UPDATE
wpetula replied to wpetula's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Question: what visual mods are you using? Frontier's atmosphere is supposed to be white. I've heard some mods mess with Scatterer atmosphere colors. Note that I am just checking to make sure that this isn't a bug on my end. If a visual mod is doing funky stuff, that's totally fine.- 455 replies

totm nov 2021 'Secrets' Of Life That Come With Adulting
wpetula replied to Spacescifi's topic in The Lounge
1. If something seems too good to be true, it likely is. Be cautious moving forward. Consider the best, expect the worst. 2. Do not have your happiness depend on one person. I'm sure many of us have fallen into this trap, conscious or not. Relationships are naturally unstable, and if you let a relationship control your motivation for moving forward, your mental health will also be unstable. Branch out, find those simple pleasures, expand/reinforce your network of friends if possible, learn something new. That way, when the storm clouds come, you don't get soaking wet. 3. Don't be afraid of trying something new. You might fail miserably the first time around. Oh well! Give it another shot. 4. Don't be a prisoner of your past. Be someone of the present and future. 5. Only you can make yourself happy. It's a hard pill to swallow, but it is true. Nobody will ever experience exactly what you did. Nobody has the perfect cure for your pain. Good people may offer you support, but it is your decision to take it. 6. Sometimes the best answers are the most painful ones. 7. Support other people and help them to a better tomorrow. Be there for them, and one day, they may be there for you. 8. Understand that we are all human. We make mistakes, we change, we grow. 9. Your number one priority is ensuring your own long term happiness. Do your best, but know you can't do any more than that. Help others, but don't forget to also help yourself. You are all you have. -
[1.9.x - 1.12.x] Precursors v1.8.0 -- NEW YEARS UPDATE
wpetula replied to wpetula's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
This might be a good compromise while I fix the problem. Fracture is close to the Sun and molten, so even orbiting Fracture can be a hazard. Hopefully I can get HazardousBody all ironed out. I heard other modders were having trouble with it too (no specific names off the top of my head, sorry)- 455 replies

Kerbal Space Program 2 Knowledge Repository
wpetula replied to The Aziz's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Oceans are obviously not the focus Kerbal Space Program, but it’s nice to see that they will be somewhat detailed. In KSP 1, the land gently slopes toward a procedurally bumpy ocean floor. Looking at the video, Kerbin in KSP 2 appears to have continental slopes and abyssal plains. The drop off into the abyssal plains looks incredibly deep. Imagine bringing a submarine to the edge of a continental plate and diving into the abyss...Subnautica vibes. If you look closely at the detail of the ocean floor, there appear to be a few underwater mountain ranges and trenches to explore. I’m just really happy that the devs are giving oceans some love. They add a new level of exploration to the game. -

Kerbal Space Program 2 Knowledge Repository
wpetula replied to The Aziz's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
@The Aziz In the recent KSP 2 Celestial Architecting video, there’s a shot where the devs show the different layers of Kerbin. If you look closely, you can see that Kerbin has continental plates and realistic underwater landforms. I’ll come back later and add a screenshot from the video to this post. -

What visual / terrain mods are you using (do I see ballisticfox’s neutral tufx config)? The cliffs on Tension should definitely have detailed textures. I’ll check to see if I can recreate the bug this week. Thanks for letting me know!- 455 replies

I agree, but at the same time, the new Ovin also looks a bit boring. It seems like the whole planet is comprised of two basic biomes: the dark lowlands/basins, and the rocky tan highlands. The surface looks ultra detailed and fun to explore, but the view from in space is a little dull. The lack of detail makes the planet feel smaller than it actually is.
