  1. I will echo what has been said about TWP; it isn't very accurate at times, and you really have to watch what it tells you. For the most part, creating your own nodes is going to be far more effective. For myself, I couldn't live without MechJeb. I use it to create nodes, and then before I execute them I can tweak them to get the biggest bang for my dV buck. It still isn't always perfect, but it is better than having to guess!
  2. Chickens on the hill. Chik-fil-a-hill.
  3. I'm not hindered by parts or weight; I've got the VAB and launchpad upgraded. And I've already done what you've outlined in the first four launches (although I think it took me 5). I need to go interplanetary, but I'm fairly sure I'll be at or above the remaining funds I have left for said rocket. I will have to look through the craft I built in the Kerpollo Challenge and see if anything there is cheap enough. If not, I might have to start over.
  4. I think the point of why I posted in the first place has gotten lost here. In the career game that this question arose from, I'm at a point where I am out of ways to earn funds. As in, all rockets I create eat into the dwindling supply of funds I have, and I have found zero ways to earn additional funds. The only solid answer that was given was to throw a bunch of cheap satellites at Eve and/or Duna, which I have to try yet. But beyond that, telling me to create a reusable rocket/SSTO doesn't actually go towards the real situation here: how do I EARN funds?
  5. @Xeldrak So is this dead then? Or will you continue to administer this and give those of us who completed it our due?
  6. First off, I'd like to send massive kudos out. This is quality work being done, and the devs I'm sure don't get enough love for it. Well done. Secondly, my impressions (for what they are worth) of the gameplay video. Not a real fan of putting the Kerbals at the top of the screen. Generally speaking, our eyes tend to move either up or down naturally, which means we will always be looking either top-center or bottom-center for information. The Kerbals, while awesome, are not what I'm looking for when looking at the screen (although, I do need to know where they are for EVA). I'm guessing there is some other gameplay-related reason why they are up there? I dig the redesign of the navball and SAS module on the left of the screen. Buttons are bigger, and it seems easier to read. And it looks like there is added stuff there; perhaps more controls for flight? Don't know for sure, but it looks nifty to me. It looks like they incorporated relative altitude in the navball, which is nice to have right there next to everything else you need to pay attention to. I love that they moved the time warp controls and made them stay on the screen. One of my biggest peeves about KSP, even though I tend to use keyboard shortcuts, is that time warp is hidden under the MET button top left. This way it's right there, in front of you. And, as I pointed out in #1 above, it's critical information that your eyes will naturally move to as it is bottom-center of the screen. It looks like staging, which has moved from the left side to the right, has been re-ordered. Looks like stages are now numbered in the order you activate them, not top-down. So the engine is stage 0, the decoupler stage 1, the parachute stage 2. Not a big deal, and makes sense. Just have to keep that in mind when flipping from KSP to KSP2 lest you stage wrong. Not sure why, but during descent the navball doesn't show that the ship is pointed to retrograde. In fact, the navball doesn't look like it's moving at all. Could just be because the purpose was to show off the rendering of the planet, but still noteworthy. At least, it's noteworthy in my opinion. Why is Elias laughing maniacally as they are going into the surface at terminal velocity? He has to know he's about to die. Love the scattered, broken parts upon impact. Currently all we get is an explosion, which is fine. But detail like shrapnel flying off everywhere, even if it doesn't do anything else, is still a cool effect. All told, love the update. I love that they've done some upgrades to planet texturing, and it's also cool to see that they are taking some player suggestions and putting them in the game (redesigns and look/feel). Keep up the good work; I am looking forward to the day when I can send you some cash for this game!
  7. I hope there is a link to watch it after the fact. I won't be able to livestream it tonight.
  8. Whenever I get this one, I put the decoupler ON TOP of the command module.
  9. Better late than never! How are things going, @ColdJ?
  10. While I think ion (electric/Dawn) engines might be the way to go for missions to Mun and Minmus, as well as for powering rovers on celestial bodies, the burn time needed to transfer to anywhere beyond Kerbin's SOI might just be too long to be effective. Now, that isn't to say you can't do it. In fact, YMMV, and if you've got an idea I say go for it. I'm just putting out there that it may not be very efficient to do so. But hey, I've been wrong about so much in this game that I'm willing to admit that I might wrong here once again!
  11. Aloha! Let us see if @18Watt will show up!
  12. Neptune is blue due to the absorption of red and infrared light by its methane atmosphere. Saturn, on the other hand, looks yellow due to sunlight being reflected off the planet's thick clouds. Jool is a gas giant, so any number of gases could cause it to look green. Alternatively, high concentrations of chlorophyll could do the same thing.
  13. @Xeldrak Not sure if this challenge is still active, but I completed it as part of the Kerpollo Challenge. The mission thread: According to the first post in this challenge, I think I've accumulated the following points: Reach Moho SOI (30 points) Reach Moho SOI with a manned craft (10 points) Land your craft of the surface of Moho (40 points) 1 Kerbal on the surface (10 points) Return at least a part of your vessel to the surface of Kerbin (40 points) 1 Kerbals returned (20 points) Return some kind of science from the Moho SOI to Kerbin and retrieve it (10 points) Return some kind of science from the surface of Moho to Kerbin and retrieve it (10 points) Return a surface sample from Moho and retrieve it (20 points) Plant a Flag at Moho (5 points) That's a total of 195 points gained from this one flight for this challenge. I even made a badge that I hope works! 125x125?
