  1. And the crew is finally all together! And of course special thanks to Alex Moon for his fantastic transfer window calculator!
  2. Nice sfuff, +1 for re-creatingthe fkying bedstead!
  3. Awww, thanks! Very much honored, it's a beautiful spot and I'll have to send a plane over to see it for myself.
  4. Darn! I was hoping my Jeb would be sporting those wings on his flight suit in about 200 days/10 comic pages I will have to come up with some sort of Kerbfleet commendation to award him (assuming he doesn't plow Hummlebee into the landscape)
  5. Well that's sad... it'll be interesting to see how you take the story from here.
  6. I bet you can recover this with a bit of save file editing--I have not looked personally but maybe the 'bad' engines have some kind of state = STOWED (or something like that) that you can edit to be the same as the 'good' engine.
  7. Thanks! I dunno, if there weren't any text I suppose you could call it a 'look'? Two more pages today--took me a while to decide what color Dilsby's speech balloon should be. It's the little things...
  8. Very nice! Looks like you hit on the same solution I did to get your Duna spaceplane to altitude. Your Mort must be happier than my Mort though, since I don't have FMRS and had to dump the "Orange Knight" booster plane in the water. Will have to look into that. Neat solutions also for your asymmetric loads.
  9. Thanks guys! And here are the next pages. There is a link to the Ch1 album in the first post now. Believe me, I tried it every other way first--I backed the piggie off 50 meters, came in again, and the ports still didn't reset. Thank Jool for Bill's mad skills!
  10. Mmm... minty. Every kerbal's second-favorite flavor, after orange! I did consider extreme EVA, but they need to get to a station 20km up and I wasn't sure they'd make it. And then I'd run the risk of having to pick up two stranded Kerbals, out of fuel and in two different orbits.... then we'd REALLY miss the transfer window. ETA. Will hold the update until the end of the docking problem, so you don't have too many successive updates with nothing but minty failure. Question for the readers: I like the look of the big pages on the Forum, but would it be useful to also have an imgur album collecting them? Maybe one per chapter (12-16 pages). I can put links on the front page and in the posts as each chapter finishes.
  11. Here it is... Ta daaa! Looks simple? Well, it wasn't. The trick in making the next page will be in editing down from Jool-knows-how-many pictures of all of Val and Bill's attempts. Stay tuned! Er, or subscribed--whatever.
  12. Today's page: What could Val be planning? Hmmm... well, not really a fair question, I happen to know what debris I left lying around on Minmus and you don't... yet
  13. Grabbed a pod somebody left floating around near the Mun. Got it on the claw and in the bay just fine, only clips the doors a little bit. Hopefully the AIRBRAKES will slow it down enough to survive re-entry with no heatshield... oh, and it's going to hit atmosphere right when my crew is supposed to leave for Duna, so hopefully I won't forget to drive it, either
  14. One craft could do all those things, if you're willing to build a flying refinery. I can't unreservedly recommend that approach yet, as my own Hummlebee is still en route to Duna:) For a low-risk approach I'd put wings, control surfaces and chutes on a rover. You'll be able to glide in close to Bob, land soft, then drive the rest of the way.
  15. Sure you do, so do I... but is Gene quietly suffering each time, wincing as you press the spacebar right in the middle of his "go/no-go" jam? I'd like to think he is One more page--sorry, not quite back to Val and Bill yet, but very soon. Poor, poor Gene...
  16. Thank you! I'm impatient too, the next section focuses on Val and Bill and I'm really looking forward to writing that dialogue
  17. Yeah, I am bringing only aerospikes myself, with AIRBRAKES and VTOL to make sure I get down in one piece. - - - Updated - - - Encouraging! I suppose KER should show the thrust at dune level, may give that a try myself sometime.
  18. I just couldn't leave you hanging with Orange Knight still suborbital. Two more pages:
  19. Outstanding work, I followed you here from the "How Not to Flip" thread. Very smart use of payload space to send multiple probes at once.
  20. Thanks, this is an important point that hasn't been raised before on the thread--sometimes turning a control surface off is better than keeping it on, because they like to fight each other! For my planes I always make sure the rudder does just yaw, the elevators only pitch, and nothing responds to roll except the ailerons. Disabling one or more (or all) control directions on a rocket fin may help with control problems as well.
  21. Thanks guys, really appreciate the encouragement! Here's the first batch of Chapter 2: Poor Gene, I'm not sure he'll ever get to finish a proper countdown! Does this sort of thing happen to him in other space programs?
  22. Version 0.90 Duna was loads of fun, wasn't it? Hope 1.0 treats you as well, and that you keep up the reports!
  23. True dat. There's a heatshield on the front, it barely gets used coming back from the Mun.
  24. Thank you! And yeah, that seems like a good rule re: mission report vs. writing. I am not making this up per se, just adding some color to the gameplay narrative.
