[WEB APP] Ribbon Generator [1.1.2] [ABANDONED]
Pipcard replied to Moustachauve's topic in KSP1 Tools and Applications
That "Not Acceptable" error is happening again. (current time: 9 a.m. Pacific time; it was also happening last night) -
That's not originally from HAWX. It's a IDOLM@STER DLC skin for Ace Combat 6 (since they're both made by Namco). That's cool, Kerbal Space Combat.

[1.3.0] Kerbal Engineer Redux 1.1.3.0 (2017-05-28)
Pipcard replied to cybutek's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I want Kerbal Engineer to have a feature that shows delta-v based only on RCS monopropellant and thrusters. -

Thermometers don't use up electricity. It's the reaction wheels on the probe body. -
Preview of my lightweight personal SSTO capable of docking with a space station (though I haven't done that yet).

H-IIB (and H-IIA), my favorite launch vehicle.

Adding canards helped a lot.
-
Start off with suborbital sounding rockets.
-
By switching from the aerospikes to the LV-909s (since the aerospikes were only used once they were in the upper atmosphere), I had less mass and more delta-v. But I still have pitching problems. And it seems that most of them occur at takeoff with the landing gear deployed.

Balboa - A lighter-than-air planetary explorer
Pipcard replied to Xorth Tanovar's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Alien Planet, that was a cool speculative documentary. But naming the probe Ike obviously won't be a good idea. -
I want to do it without installing a mod that changes the aerodynamics of everything.
-
I'm currently experimenting with making spaceplanes. The problem I'm currently having is not having enough pitch control (as well as rocking in various directions when trying to do that). My plane barely pitches when taking off and doing banking turns. And I actually made it into orbit once with an SSTO spaceplane today. Getting back down is the real challenge. edit: This is the plane (slightly modified from the one that I took into orbit)
-
I don't even put lots of control surfaces on my plane.
-
For me, the hardest thing in KSP is making a plane that fly. The hardest part of that is landing on a runway. I believe the reason is that the controls aren't even smooth. Even when fine controls are turned on (caps lock), the plane keeps rocking up and down when turning or exiting out of a turn. Trying to land on a runway either causes the plane to bounce off or to crash. And for most of the time... The plane keeps swerving/veering left or right on the runway when trying to take off. I put the center of lift behind the center of mass. I even put the wheels perpendicular to the ground. It still happens.

About that Sylph launcher: so you made a Falcon 9 Reusable, great job!

Naming scheme for your ships! (0.24 edition)
Pipcard replied to mangekyou-sama's topic in KSP1 Discussion
A series of spacecraft is denoted by a name followed by a number. (ex. Dawn-3 is the third probe mission to the Eve-Gilly system) For launch vehicles: "Onion Stick" (for 1.25 m rockets); "Bottle" (for 2.5 m rockets) followed by Type-# (version number) and the number of boosters (solid or liquid) or cores (example: the Falcon Heavy has 3 cores) -
I did that with my "Songbird" satellite network. But they weren't exactly equidistant. And since they didn't have orbits with exactly zero eccentricity that lasted exactly 6 hours, they eventually drifted from their original positions. But when I first completed the network, I thought that it was close enough.

<- *points to my avatar and title* Miku + trance (or house, or techno, etc.) is a good combination, because it sounds futuristic, especially if you take into consideration the meaning of her name. Also, this is the theme song for when humans return to the Moon.
