    Make sure the door is closed on the materials bay. It is much more vulnerable to heat if that is open.

    Any full circuit which does not touch the atmosphere at any point (that 70kms again) is considered an orbit.

    For a suborbital, really the only requirement is that the ship leave atmosphere at some point. If they are exposed to Gs high enough to make them pass out, though, you will be considered to have failed the mission. If you open the contracts screen in the upper right, you might be able to see which condition is not being marked as completed.
