  1. Thank you, but I am not globular just yet.
  2. It's the target for a contract you are either being offered, or have already agreed to perform. To post pictures here, you will need to upload your screenshots to a file sharing service such as Imgur.com (it's free), and copy the BBCode link they provide into your posts here.
  3. Typical trailer. Tells you absolutely nothing about actual gameplay. However, the maneuvering might hint that it's some dumbed-down, action-oriented travesty. I'm not feeling terribly optimistic.
  4. Not to ruin the fun, but the reason that's part of all their names is that it's the (proper) name for their race. They are "Kermans" rather than the common but erroneous "Kerbals." Yeah, I know, it's like saying "Bob Human," but that's the reason for it.
  5. It has been possible to delete the root part for several versions now. Detach everything from it, then delete it. The only action you will be able to take at this point is to choose a new root part, which then appears with nothing attached to it. Assembly then works normally again. Re-attach the parts you removed, and save. Same ship, new root part.
  6. Links to material that includes bad language is a grey area. We make decisions on a case-by-case basis. And several people have access to the Squad forum account. KasperVld posts many things on behalf of Squad, but I believe Squad members can also use it themselves. They almost never do, though, and go through Kasper instead. I don't think there's ever been an occasion where the moderators were opposed to something the Squad account wanted to post, but it is Squad's forum, so they'd have the final word. This is all hypothetical, though, as there has never been a conflict.
  7. Yeah, this is a thing not to do. Unless you want to give us practice handing out infractions.
  8. I think the next poster will be Astrofox, making amends for breaking the game rules and not nominating the next person to reply. >
  9. I found Duna's new atmosphere to be shockingly easy. I used to use 12,500m as my standard aerocapture altitude, but had to use trial-and-error attempts to get this mission to achieve orbit at a passing altitude of 30,000m! The solar panels were not damaged during the surface probe's descent despite being left deployed, and the chutes were more than enough to bring it to a safe descent speed, which would not have worked in the pre-1.0 Duna atmosphere.
  10. Modding question moved to the modding subforum.
  11. I didn't participate. I was just watching.
  12. Let's not get snippy about terminology. After all, the proper name for the little green guys is Kermans. "Kerbal" is the adjective form, but it's become so common that nobody bothers to correct it anymore.
  13. So I built this silly-looking thing and flew it to Duna. It took goo pod and mat bay readings high above, near, and upper atmosphere of Duna, then ejected the now-useless pod/bay combos. Then aerobraked. Along the way, it took grav, pressure, and temp readings high above, near, and upper atmo of Duna. Once orbit had been achieved, the two sections separated. The satellite assumed an elliptical polar orbit, where it has and continues to send grav readings as it passes both high above and near various biomes. The lander parachuted to the surface. Along the way it took grav, pressure, temp, goo pod, and gas analysis readings. And once landed, it took grav, pressure, temp, seismic, and material bay readings. The only two scans the mission missed were goo pod on surface (because I goofed and only put 1 pod on it), and mat bay in atmo, because that would have made the ship heavier. Total science 1310, at a mission cost of $102,050.
  14. Hi. Weren't you chatting with KasperVld on a stream the other day?
  15. Op is just blowing off some steam, guys. No need to get snippy about it.
  16. The merits of the various measuring systems is a subject for Science Labs, and since the OP's question has been answered and this thread has wandered far afield, it's time to close it.
  17. Clicking on any part should select that part, but also everything attached to it. The assembly can be deleted with the del key. But you can't take a part out of the middle of an assembly, if that's what you're asking, because KSP uses a tree-like system to trace valid attachment back to the root part.
  18. You can get an awful lot of science from: A probe that just peeks out of Kerbin's SOI and comes right back, recovering science "high above the sun." Or dropping parachuted probes to transmit science from the surfaces of Eve and Duna. The nice thing about these missions is that the atmosphere and chutes do the braking for you, eliminating the need for expending much dV at the destination.
  19. This thread is demonstrating why we had to make a rule against politics on the forum. Please keep it to space-related discussions, guys.
  20. By looking at it. The cylindrical secondary hull is way the heck below the impulse engines. Unless it's a hollow balloon, it's going to drag the center of mass far below that engine mount. It's not just it's unknown mass, but it's known physical location that's the problem.
  21. Mod-related question moved to the modding section.
