Introducing For Science! - Major Content Update Out in December
Stoup replied to Intercept Games's topic in Announcements
Not to speak on anyone else's behalf, but if it were me, I'd say in my own opinion that I'd gladly pay 50 bucks for a KSP2 with 50 bucks worth of qol features over ksp1. Instead I've begrudgingly got what we have now! -
I'd love to hear more about the current status of lots of the little things that have been mentioned as eventually tasks, just to get an idea that they haven't fallen off the team's radar! Off the top of my head, CBT terrain system. I'm sure this one is still in the works, but a little status update would be nice Colliders for terrain scatters/trees etc Colliders for the mini asteroids in planetary belts Ehh, that's all that immediately comes to mind for me. I know we have a number of QoL bits in the pipelines, but there's so many possibilities here and I just hope they're all fleshed out to a good degree

Actually, I think Dakota did state that 0.1.5 will have at least some features, shouldn't be too far back on dev tracker
-
Sorry for ping glueckz, mobile version of forum bugging out on me Have they explicitly stated anywhere that thing like the dV tools they've shown are slated for the 0.2 release? Maybe we'll get some of those on what I'd assume is this Friday

Bug Status [10/23]
Stoup replied to Intercept Games's topic in KSP2 Suggestions and Development Discussion
Something I really like in this particular KERB is the attention given to referencing a lot of smaller bits of info you guys have spread out over the past couple weeks. I am glad to see something resembling centralization of info for us, as one of the longest-running gripes that many still have is that information is still very scattershot in where it appears! -
I dearly miss the ability to do this as well!
-
Adorable! Thanks for these, hope they turn out pretty neat

I mean, the currently top commented threads in the KSP2 subforum are "where's the communications we were promised", "let's all stop freaking out" and a locked thread in regards to refunds. I'd hardly say it's binary positive/negative, it has more to do with the relevance of thread content. It's become quite common that ALL threads regardless of their topic spiral into KSP2 hate, and while I of course am disappointed in it, I recognize that this trend is leaving little room for alternative discourse. Which is what is frustrating a lot of forum members! But it's hard to differentiate displeasure with the game's current state from genuine feedback about any given topic related to gameplay, which awkwardly enough tends to gravitate INTO that same displeasure as people run into critical bugs and become fed up with the game.

I just don't buy that idea without seeing a source for it any more. Heating was alleged to already be in the game, but just in need of a little polish. Now, many months after the claim that it would be released imminently, it's become quite clear that the system is in fact still in the extremely early stages of its development. Whether that's because they had to scrap the old system and start anew is irrelevant. Their communication about what is going on in this regard is non-existent. Furthermore, it kind of invalidates the power of the idea that future roadmap goals are 'already in the game'. Why should we believe that other future features won't go the same way heating has? Just because there may be some bones in the game now doesn't mean those bones aren't gonna just be thrown completely in the garbage, same as whatever progress they allegedly had on the heating system.

Wobbly Rockets with David 'Trigger' Tregoning - KSP2 Dev Chat
Stoup replied to Intercept Games's topic in Dev Chats
I just feel like refusing to address the issues as they are currently, even if with a temporary solution, is sending a bad message. That it doesn't matter if the game's less fun or enjoyable right now, since they want to make a 'perfect solution' down the line. And besides that, we're so early in early access, I hope people aren't expecting complete continuity with craft files through the entire EA process. EA IS the time to break such things -
I'm not one for throwing accusations around, but I do feel this is still a good point. It's hard to put faith in content that's in development, when a LOT of the content we've seen in development, over these past few YEARS still isn't in the game.

A sense that there's some level of respect between the community and the developers? When things like comms are bad, and they say they want to fix it, but then don't elaborate on how they plan to do that for extended periods of time, it leaves people feeling like there's just zero care given to community opinion.

Random idea for something I at least would like to hear more of: maybe some follow ups to previous dev diaries/etc? It's been a while since things like the CBT system was even mentioned, and I'm sure there's plenty of other systems that were slated to have further news that may have fallen by the wayside

Wobbly Rockets with David 'Trigger' Tregoning - KSP2 Dev Chat
Stoup replied to Intercept Games's topic in Dev Chats
Maybe the argument should come less from the perspective of realism, and more from one of, is it FUN to require the player to use struts in this specific situation? As in, does it contribute to the stable rocket puzzle? Or does it get to a point where we're being forced to strut excessively? It's important to keep strutting down, if we can, to reduce part count and ease physics interactions between additional joints. There are cases where struts should definitely used, but like even Nate has said, vertical rocket stacks probably shouldn't need to be strutted to themselves to stay stable. I think that's the biggest gripe when people talk about wobbliness, though I welcome different perspectives. -
Just want to reaffirm that I'm still seeing this bug in 0.1.4.1, was trying to release a lander from a small mothership over Ike and when I was focused on the lander, the mothership's orbit started spiraling out from Ike and Duna on an an accelerating escape trajectory until I switched focus to the craft.

Wobbly Rockets with David 'Trigger' Tregoning - KSP2 Dev Chat
Stoup replied to Intercept Games's topic in Dev Chats
Yeah, that is a fair take. I hate to indulge in the inevitable drama that results from this kind of ambiguous silly analogy, honestly, but regardless of what he meant, it still feels to me like that's what we're expected to do: Deal with what we have now, because sometime maybe eventually in the future things will be better. And I acknowledge the irony of saying this in the wake of a video where they specifically talk about short term solutions, but... I mean, why would we need to talk about short term solutions? I don't feel the damage they could cause would be outweighed by the sentiment of neglect that I feel has grown, at least in my own experience -

I wanna mirror my sentiment posted elsewhere... I didn't pay 50 dollars for the game to be told that I need to "eat my vegetables" in hope of some unspecified future instead of being able to easily enjoy the product that has been released -
Release KSP2 Release Notes - Hotfix v0.1.4.1
Stoup replied to Intercept Games's topic in KSP2 Dev Updates
Yeah, eager to test out orbital decay fixes too. Seems like you're we're at least getting closer to pinning down causes for it! -
KSP2 doesn't run
Stoup replied to NotSoAwesomeNation's topic in KSP2 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Do you know perchance how many hours you already have in the game? Recently there was a big discovered with the game related to Windows registry, symptoms here sound similar to what that bug apparently causes https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/topic/219607-ksp2-is-spamming-the-windows-registry-over-weeksmonths-until-the-game-will-stop-working-permanently/ -
Are there any specifics at all you can elaborate on? We already know you've said you're working on being more communicative, this is nothing new. In what way do you plan to pull the curtain back more? Is it more dev diaries/etc? Some other form of info sharing? Again, as I said earlier in the thread, I think it would be beneficial to have any kind of sincere-feeling comms, whether they feature new features or not. This is close to that but not quite on the mark
-
Just to make my sentiment clear, so that both sides can day they're understanding each other, I'll say that so far I've not been happy with how communications have gone in response to the recent registry bug problems. I understand they don't have much information to share, but, ahh, I dunno, it's hard to pin down the exact frustration. Probably it's hearing the same vague not-really-informative sort of statements we've gotten in the past. So what would be the way I'd hope it WOULD be handled? Honestly, I think the answer I see here has been covered in the thread, unfortunately. There's not much different that they'd need to tell us... it just needs to be fixed, and quickly on an actual sane and logical timescale. If it's as serious as you claim, I just want to see that you guys can take action to match your words. I hope the patch comes through today, but I'd only be sorely disappointed if it didn't come out this week
