  1. Part count is king, my friend. I hate small touches like lights and external cameras because they can easily make up 25% of your part count or more. That's why the cBBp Dragon is my favorite part mod. A lander in 1 part!
  2. If you run out of RAM while loading, the game will crash.
  3. Well a shuttle design is BY FAR NOT the safest. The safest lift system is a normal rocket. It has an escape system that can be aborted at any time, and the occupants don't have to worry about damage to the vehicle itself if the rocket decides to self destruct. Downmassing cargo is a good advantage though.
  4. All that's left to do is for Squad to make science fun for endgame players! Thanks for that mod though. That's amazing.
  5. Perfect! I will go back into cryosleep as I wait.
  6. Haha. It's important to mention that I only play with FAR.
  7. So stubbles, any initial estimates on model size? KSO is 250mb and also the (3rd) most beautiful shuttle in existence.
  8. If lift didn't scale with wing size, this mod would be useless. I'm pretty sure mass does as well. They do not update in the description, however.
  9. I have just awoken from one of the best dreams ever! I had a dream that I was an astronaut with NASA and that Minmus was an actual celestial body. My crewmembers and I left our Mun station to travel to Minmus to survey the moon. We had a lander, a habitat to live in during the expedition, and space suits! Somehow we ended up in a firefight with several celebrities but that's just my imagination. At the end of my dream, we left Minmus and returned to the Mun. This is a short synopsis but it took place over an 8-hour period. That's a long KSP session. Have you had any interesting KSP dreams yourself? Tell us all!
  10. OP, take note of this. You might consider retooling your argument to be less condescending. This KSP community tries very hard to uplift, not insult.
  11. Great shuttle man! I will propose a couple of changes to get more out of your shuttle: 1. Reduce the number of SSMEs. You don't need quite that much thrust and you are carrying an extra 12t or so to orbit. This significantly limits payload capacity. 2. Retool the lift system. I will need more pictures but it looks like you are carrying too much liquid fuel and would benefit from two high-thrust solids instead. And yea, as Captain Sierra said, that smallest cargo bay is only useful for satellites and the like. I personally use the S2 Widebody cargo bay for my larger shuttle. It can carry 2.5m payloads with unorthodox shapes and can fit a robotic arm or other supplies as well. Hope this helps, and happy shuttling!
  12. Well in general we lack the tools. There is no way in the stock game to balance thrust in real time, nor is there and efficient way to gimbal to compensate for asymmetrical thrust/balance. Plugins and mod parts are the only ways to easily create a working shuttle that has payload capacity. I mean there aren't even cargo bays or payload shrouds in the stock game. Seems like a pretty easy thing to implement (however useless they may be in the stock game). Other problems include people trying to be NASA. The real space shuttle's designers had the freedom to choose exactly what fit the mission parameters, and were not limited by a predetermined selection of parts. Many people follow the actual space shuttle design TOO closely. For example, 3 SSMEs are NOT needed for most form factors, and people generally use way too much fuel to get way too little cargo into space. Looking at the problem in different ways will solve all of that.
  13. OK so I am not going to go through the 30+ pages that I missed, but would it not be an amazing idea to have the curiosity rover to ACTUAL science? There is a mod for rover sample collection, etc. but the curiosity rover would be the end all be all of science rovers!
  14. He was only ever going to do work temporarily. Basically his parts are too much for Squad to handle.
  15. Version 0.15.2 here. Coming up on two years now!
  16. That's getting harder and harder everyday. The mod community is blossoming. Still gonna axe a few mods though
  17. WOW! That's an amazing execution that doesn't require plugins or fancy engines. THIS is why I play KSP. The sky is this limit. People that say that shuttles are pointless are...missing the point. The challenge and reward of creating something as complicated and graceful as a shuttle is its own reward. Nothing like landing at KSC at the end of a mission. How high does she go? Oh, to answer the OP: Yes
  18. I downloaded this pod today...and I am blown away. I won't want to use another IVA forever! One question though: Is this stilll being worked on? EDIT: After downloading the capsule and checking the IVA, I have a couple of errors to report. Spelling Errors Leftmost Large Screen: - 1.1, 1.2 – Proper spelling is “Rendezvous†- 4.2 – Proper spelling is “Flight Log†Buttons on Right side: - Proper spelling is “Cabin Pres. Auto†Pedantic fixes: -The word “pressure†is normally abbreviated “Pres.†-Mod is too awesome, might consider fixing this.
  19. Started on my Mun Station as a proving mission of the Korin Capsule. This took most of my day, but it was worth it!
  20. [quote name=PDCWolf;958067 As I said' date=' I'm really sorry for this, but it escapes my control. No pun intended! Ha!
  21. Congrats Blizzy! You are the first author to do TOO good of a job updating! Seriously though, your dedication is admirable, and should be copied by other mod authors. Cheers.
  22. If you want your spaceplane to be an airplane too, then you should act like it (Weight and balance are still very important).
  23. THat's an impressive list you have there I only have versions 18.0 and beyond (darn lack of foresight)!
