  1. Fun fact: No one has ever correctly placed control surfaces on the first try, least of all on B9 wings.
  2. I've not lost any, but I don't have respawns enabled, so I try to be careful. Takeoff failures are reverted when it comes to planes, but rocket failures are fair game. My Apollo recreation has an abort button that causes the engine to stop, fairing to decouple, and launch tower to activate. Not that I haven't had some close calls. I sent a ship out to what I absentmindedly thought was Eeloo, but turned out to be Dres. It was far from an optimal launch window, and I ended up entering its SOI very far away from it and with so little fuel that I decided to forget it and come straight home. They spent over 4 years in space, and what's worse, I was playing with TAC life support. By the time they landed back on Kerbin (after having used up all of my fuel and monopropellant to slow down enough), they had only 8 hours worth of supplies left!
  3. I've yet to lose any Kerbals this update, but I do have permadeath enabled. Renaming asteroids would make for a good memorial, now that I think of it.
  4. Heh, I did both of these. I truly knew nothing about space when I started. A great teaching tool, this game.
  5. Sandbox. Career is too grindy for my taste.
  6. Still not useful for interplanetary missions thanks to the lack of biomes, but you can edit the .cfg to make it improve the transmission rate by a higher percentage. That's what I did when I last played career mode.
  7. FF is set to permadead, which is why they were still dead when the pic was taken. This is irrelevant, and you're missing the point. They died in the making of the scenario. Squad did some screwing around before submitting.
  8. It means that earlier in the save they died.
  9. So I was playing around in the asteroid capture scenario, and I accidentally clicked the tab for the Final Frontier mod. There, I noticed that Bob and Jeb's status was red, instead of the blue and green I'd seen. I moused over to see what it meant, and got this: What happened in the making of this scenario!?
  10. They'll have to be balanced when career gets fleshed out, I guess. As for sandbox, who cares if it's balanced? That's why it's sandbox.
  11. Big Bernie, a class D, and Gustavo, a class E.
  12. Flying near the mountains with the new release of the Visual Enhancement mod.
  13. I had that problem at first as well. I've found that for some reason middle-clicking a spoiler or otherwise opening in a new tab redirects to the forum, but left-clicking unhides it.
  14. Thanks for that, and I'll be sure to check out your other vids. I think the most useful thing I learned from that was to put way less trust in the maneuver nodes, which makes me a little more confident with my current situation. Edit: Thanks again. I had a class D on an impact trajectory with Kerbin and no idea what I was doing, not to mention a poorly thought-out craft in orbit with no RCS.
  15. I noticed it too. THIS is the best part of the update.
  16. I think they hyped it way too early, to the point where we basically knew everything with quite while still to wait.
  17. Looks nice and just a little bit creepy, which I like.
  18. I don't know, but if you do have to buy it again, it's on sale on Steam for $5.00 until the 24th.
  19. I built a lander meant to collect science from Ike and return to Kerbin. 1. While circularizing its orbit around Kerbin, the Kraken struck and blew it up. 2. Hyper-edited the injection stage into orbit and went to Ike. On my way down I realized I forgot to put a decoupler between the injection stage and lander. 3. Tried to edit out the parts that made up the injection stage, which didn't work. 4. Returned to Kerbin just to get the crew back, game crashed when I entered its SOI. 5. Restarted and hyper-edited back into Kerbin orbit, again the game crashed when the chutes opened. 6. Gave up and removed the flight from the save file, then gave myself some science for the wasted time.
  20. The thing that felt the best was my first successful Mun landing and return. Actual difficulty wise, it's one of the following, not sure which. A. Manned landing and return from Duna. B. Manned landing and return from Dres, including a rescue ship sent to retrieve the crew from Dres orbit.
