So, private companies are able to use the services of another private company?
-
People are complaining that a private company is acting like a private company, instead of a public resource?
-
I didn't really care about the execution. The concept just doesn't fit.
-
Yes. But Take Two isn't a charity. They give Squad money to make the game, in expectation that the game will bring in more than they spend.
-
The developers need to fund any additions to the game. If there's no cash coming in, there's no reason to continue expanding. Someone has to pay for it, by either buying DLC or buying additional copies of the game.
-
How much updating of the base game would they need to do for you to buy a new copy?

The thread is "bad science in fiction", not "bad science fiction". Exploding cars is on topic.

What stock features are not fully developed?
razark replied to EchoLima's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
It was announced as being planned as a feature, and 0% development (Although this is debatable. Squad indicated in the past that back-end work had been done in preparation of a multi-player implementation, so 0% is not entirely true, but, for the sake of pedantic argument, we'll just go with it anyway.) is much less than 100% (or "fully") developed, therefore it is perfectly fine to say that it is not fully developed. In fact, anything that is not 100% implemented is "not fully developed", so we could also say that anything that is not in the game is "not fully developed", such as boat parts, helicopters, cabbage farming, and word processing. Or we could choose not to split hairs, take it as the (quite obvious) joke that it was, and move on with this thread and our lives in general peace and well-being. -

You can, but you can't fill the empty space with LF. -
The barn was another bit of the whole "Heh, Kerbals make everything out of trash" craptastic esthetic that didn't fit with the "Starting with a Mercury/Vostok level spacecraft" idea.

Went to an event with my father tonight. On the way out: "By the way, that last guy I introduced you to? He's an astronaut."

Must resist urge... Don't say it. It will not end well. "Multiplayer!" MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Time to go hide now. -
Right side. I don't know what all they checked, but they did check blood, took an x-ray, and ran an EKG. I don't know enough about it to know what to ask them, though.

My arm and shoulder have been hurting since Monday evening. I was barely getting any sleep, so I went to the ER Wednesday night. They were very helpful. They told me my shoulder and arm hurt, and I have high blood pressure.

How does software "work"?
razark replied to Cheif Operations Director's topic in Science & Spaceflight
It really comes down to the fact that we, as a group, have decided to call it "1" and "0". You could also look at it as "true" and "false", or "on" and "off", or "potato" and "banana" if you really want to. The labels aren't the important part, it's the ideas they represent. (But the 1 and 0 work really well in boolean algebra, which is what we use to build computers. See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boolean_algebra#Values) -

Sure, let's do that. Recently, the temperature dropped quite low. My father has a garden. Many of his plants were killed off by the cold snap, but the cabbages are doing well. We then trade cabbage recipes. Some of those came down family lines. We start talking about our families. We compare the experience of growing up in our families. We talk about where our families came from, compare experience. We discuss how those experiences translate to us, and historical events that occurred. We compare historical events to current ones. We compare current events to books or movies. Someone is reminded of a joke they heard, and suddenly we're talking about some of the finer points of medieval technology. There's always plenty to talk about. Conversations wander and gain richness in that wandering. Points are made, and stored for later discussion, as the talk winds down whatever path we let it, and we come back to earlier points and learn more about each other and the world. Well, I'm sorry that your family doesn't have events happening constantly that bring new information, situations, or viewpoints into the conversation. There's always family stories that you haven't heard yet, too. I mean, the bit about the grandfather's uncle who was killed by the bear (it wasn't his bear, he was only caring for it for someone else) was something I had never heard before. (And the "or could be said later" sort of indicates that there is, in fact, more to talk about.) Well, of course. But when you have a friend sitting at the table with you, why would you chose to do taxes, schedule meetings, shop, read something else, or talk to people that aren't there? What does that say about your relationship with the person you're with? That other things are more important than your experience with that person? Then why are you even there? Why are you friends with people you can only have meaningless conversations with? Do you and your friends not have views you can discuss about the world at large? Or how the world at large affects your friends and family? My gods, isn't the passing of a relative the sort of thing that should involve personal contact, rather than a a tweet or facebook post?!? If one of my relatives dies, and I didn't get a personal phone call, text, or email, and only learned about it later by checking on some forum, I would be liquided! That's just downright insane! Yes. But not all of life is on the internet. Why would you spend time with a friend if you are not going to give the courtesy of being with that friend? Yes, this is true. But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't talk to someone if you are near them. Why be with people if you're going to limit your social interaction with them? Yeah, I have no idea what the hell to say to that, other than ask "Are all your friends and family brain-dead?". Yes. As you said "topics of conversation". And then you talk about them with the people you're with, unless you're just going to read headlines to each other, or repeat the same jokes you read somewhere, or show each other videos about things, instead of talking about what those things mean to you and your life, and your friend and their life. If you're not able to spend meaningful time with people without needing to check your phone to see if something that interests you is going on, then why are you spending time with them and calling them friends?

totm aug 2023 What funny/interesting thing happened in your life today?
razark replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in The Lounge
And it only cost eight grand, 40% of my IRA, and the 42" Samsung Smart TV. Who the hell is petty enough to demand custody of the godsdamn television?!? Oh, right. She is. -
I was just thinking the same. Also, the Seattle Museum of Flight. They have this, which might not look like much, but would be an interesting challenge to build.
-
There's always plenty to say, it's just that the social media is so much easier than thinking of things to say. Of course, when it's in the middle of a DnD game... "I'm paying attention! Just let me know when it's my turn! By the way, what's going on?"
-
As much as people give me crap for having an old flip phone, I'm quite happy with the fact that I only have to charge it twice a week. I like to be there, with my friends, engaging with them, instead of occasionally looking up and noticing them. Of course, it often turns out that I'm sitting with a group of people, watching them all poke at their phones, waiting for them to look up... (I spend my workday staring at a screen. I come home and spend my evenings staring at one screen or another. I don't need a portable screen to carry around with me. If I did, I'd never pick up a book or any of my hobbies, not that I do those enough anyway. I really need to start enforcing some sort of scheduled "no TV/computer" time.) What's there to complain about? It shows up once, maybe twice, a year, gives us a day off work, and is gone by noon!

I know the feeling. I went to check my mailbox just so I could say I made it out the door today.

Cold front hit. And the AC started working again...
-
It's now 81° (wow, it's dropped) in here, and no word on any AC repairs. Bleh. At least it's going to get cold soon. Then I can whine about not having any heat, instead. I've also come to the decision that in my next relationship, I get to have an affair, get a free car, and take 40% of her life savings. And the TV. It's a !#@$&) $300 TV! what? How godsdamn petty do you have to be to demand the TV? Well, at least I now know what my dad can do with that (even bigger) TV he just replaced at his house... Edit: My sister sent me this:
