  1. Somewhere, I've got a couple (Or four. I know where two of them are.) medallions that were made with space-flown metal. I've seen numerous spacecraft in museums. Likewise for some surface samples from the moon, including touchable ones. Our building used to have the hatch from MA-9 in the first-floor lobby. They had the first Dragon capsule in our parking lot one day, and I got to poke it. I've seen some of the debris from STS-107, when they were touring it around to the various centers. I've seen one shuttle stack being rolled out to the pad. Many times I've seen the orbiters as they were ferried on the SCA. (They used to call a fire drill in elementary school every time there was a flyby.) I've met numerous astronauts, most of them without my knowing. My father has quite a few items at home, including flags, medallions, a piece of the red stripe from a commander's space suit, heat shield tiles, part of one of the antennas he designed, etc. Most of them made into awards/mounted on plaques. It didn't make it to space, but he's got half of an SRB hold-down nut mounted on a plaque as an award. I've also managed to spot ISS, Mir, and several shuttles in orbit, if you want to count that.
  2. Well, if you're a mission controller, you get to go home for dinner every night. But if you're an astronaut, you might get to avoid part of the Houston summer.
  3. Just heard from the supervisor. Looking at job listings now.
  4. Just got out of an all-hands meeting. Now I'm just waiting on the official "don't come back until we say so" notice. Well, @#^*#$@!
  5. Yeah, it's much easier than switching to map view or tracking station to switch. It also lets you switch to/between Kerbals on EVA. See, that's what happens when you don't read the manual that comes with the game... I miss the days when games came with books.
  6. I don't remember much of an issue when they announced it was going beta, and said they'd have a cycle of testing/release/testing/release/etc. I do recall a massive surge of opposition when they announced the very next release would be 1.0, including new, untested features.
  7. Well, there goes my idea for if I get furloughed...
  8. This accurately describes several periods of my life. Damnit, you stole my line!
  9. This is not what I expected from the thread title. (Which is probably a good thing.) Still interesting, though.
  10. Pretty easily. There's mods that have done it, to some extent. Why would you need that many? Players could share a handful, or even a single launch site. Again, why? Not necessarily. As someone said, why would we start in such a system? That does not follow. Well, yeah. Online (and offline) play is like that. You've never seen someone flip over a Monopoly board? The solution to that is don't play with those people. (It also works on and off line.) It sure is. So why would you even think about it, rather than a sensible multi-player mode? KSP doesn't have to be a massively multiplayer game. A few players, four or less, playing together, with one player hosting a server and the others connecting to it, and the server admin controls mods/access. It's not that complicated, and it doesn't involve a massive infrastructure, either real world or game world.
  11. After extended experiments, the research team reports that it is unable to focus enough to read the label on the bottle, and sends regards to its Canadian compatriots, along with a wish that they might someday learn to spell correctly.
  12. If you feel the need to ask other people what to do in a game, it's time to take a break. Go play something else for a while. Play a different game. Or try playing Real Life. The graphics are amazing, and it's a completely open world experience. The choices you make can be completely life-changing. Come back to KSP after a month, and you'll find something to do.
  13. I fondly recall the days when I'd buy a game, open the box, and read the manual about how to play a game before I got around to installing it. Reading about it was nothing compared to hands-on experience, of course. But when I didn't grasp what I was seeing, having a reference to look back on was a great help.
  14. It is mostly. There was some new material to fill it out. But if you really want to hear Roger Waters whine about losing his father and how bad politicians are, it's great. It's not highly regarded, but I like it. It has some good bits, if not the whole thing. I can see why people call it an unofficial solo project, though. Still worth a listen to hear the parts that never make it on either the radio or a "Greatest Hits" compilation. When the Tigers Broke Free from the movie is included in later releases of The Final Cut. But if you like the album, the movie is worth a watch. I need to find another copy, just for my collection. Just watch it repeatedly until you can explain exactly what happens, what is real, and in what order it occurs. (Then debate it...) Edit: Moderators, can you do something about @qzgy and @StrandedonEarth, please? The one Saturday night I'm home at a decent time, and they force me to listen to Pink Floyd albums!
  15. Dark Side is probably my favorite album, especially Time. WYWH is good. TFC might require an understanding of the political situation of the world in the early '80s to appreciate the full effect.
  16. While I like a few tracks off of AMLoR, I never really caught on to the post-Waters era. I know it seems to be largely ignored, but I like The Final Cut.
  17. Further research has been conducted, and the team finds that we cannot yet throw out this hypothesis. In the interest of thorough scientific effort, them team has now switched to investigating the effects of Canadian whiskey. Further warrants as events bulletin.
  18. I propose further experimentation along this avenue of research.
  19. Well, as long as you're updating anyway, I'd like all of my favorite mods supported, too! On a serious note, though: This looks cool. I'll have to give it a try at some point.
  20. I started off the new year by getting sick. Now I'm at work, feeling like crap, so I can save the little vacation time I have. My congressionally-mandated vacation starts next week, and now I get to wait to see if I can actually use that vacation time. Someone found some funding somewhere, cause now we're staying open until at least next Friday.
  21. I get to go into a holiday weekend new year wondering what my job status is going to be, while the 536 people responsible are enjoying their continued paychecks.
  22. Full realism in KSP! Only 1/3 of the players get to land on the Mun, and only a handful of times. No crewed missions to other planets. Complete lack of funding for any projects. Any large projects should take years to build in the VAB, and the game should force you to make arbitrary changes during the process. You don't get to choose your projects, but have to do what the game tells you to do. Meanwhile, you get to watch video of someone launching a car.
