  1. I'd rather Squad spend their time coming up with more things to do at places and more interesting ways to do things at places, rather than more places to click a couple of buttons at. I mean, once they get used to added places, people will just ask for more and more.
  2. Provide a counterexample. For example: Let your "some value" be 8. 2 * 3 * 5 * 7 = 210. 210+1 = 211 (prime) 210-1 = 209 (not prime (11*19)) (I've never heard of this proof, by the way. I'm just taking your word for it that it exists.)
  3. Once students demonstrate that they understand the basic calculation, a calculator isn't going to help them, anyway. Understanding how to set up the problem and work through the process becomes more important than the basic mathematical operations. Besides, we've reached the point where anyone that's going to be doing any level of math probably has a calculator nearby. However, people should still learn to do things such as figure correct change and basic percentages without resorting to calculators.
  4. I was just looking to see if this was already a thing that I had overlooked, not trying to add to your load. (Although, if you do get around to it someday, I would not be unhappy.)
  5. Right. But I'm running the sim to see if the rocket can do what I want it to, not to watch an engine blow up and lose the time and funds to not find out the answer.
  6. I'll admit I didn't look carefully to see exactly what was deducted, but I actually meant the sim cost. It doesn't seem useful to me to pay to see a failure simulated if I'm seeing what my rocket can do under normal conditions.
  7. Grrrrrrrrrr! (I've survived 40 (non-consecutive) years of stuffed birds, and never been sick.) I've had a brined, unstuffed turkey before (Yes, AB's method), and was not impressed with the results. Well, maybe you are a sensible person, after all.
  8. Is there a way to get this and Kerbal Launch Failure to play well together? I find it rather unproductive to have a failure occur during a simulation, and it costs funds (and real world time). I found some discussion of this same sort of problem with the TestFlight mod but didn't find a solution, so if someone can point me to an answer, I'd be grateful.
  9. Scaring Jeb is easy. Scaring him and keeping him alive is an achievement.
  10. I followed the instructions in Joy of Cooking. While I like Alton Brown for most things, he and I do not agree on stuffing turkeys. The book said 25 minutes per pound at 350. (The turkey is an American bird. It gets cooked in American units.) For the 14.5 pound bird, that works out to six hours. I thought it was looking a bit done, so I checked the temperature at 4 hours. It was quite overdone at that point. I will be investing in a decent thermometer before my next attempt. All in all, it was a disastrous culinary adventure. I vastly overestimated how much stuffing the bird could hold, and damn near burned the roux for the gravy. But, I now have dinner for the next two or three weeks.
  11. Wow. I totally did not do that on purpose. Well, if you get rid of that pesky logic, you can have Eggnog and No Eggnog. Perhaps you'd like some thing which is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike eggnog? I, for one, could do with getting rid of this No Eggnog myself. And back on topic, I made a turkey for the first time this weekend. I am now craving a properly cooked turkey. (I followed the directions in the book. What should have been done in x hours was thoroughly overcooked in 2x/3 hours.)
  12. Oh, I've had gyros before. I was just surprised to see a dedicated restaurant. Sadly, everything that opens at that location seems to die off within six months. One of our group got everyone a new set of dice last night. The only time I rolled above a 9 on mine was when I (jokingly) said I was going to try and seduce the local tribal king... So, I switched back to another set of dice. It didn't help. I don't think I've ever rolled that many ones in a single night. (At least it wasn't combat...)
  13. I just noticed that one of the local rotating restaurants in the area has become a gyro place. I need to try it before it, too, disappears. (And you avatar picture reminds me way too much of last night's D&D session.)
  14. Mike Melvill and Brian Binnie might want to argue that point.
  15. Does it sound too good to be true? (It probably is, then.) Does it sound like it operates on principles that came out of a Star Trek writer? (It probably is, then.) Do you have any information on this "device", beyond a website that states it's based on a document that doesn't exist? Is there anything besides claims, a few formulas, and some big numbers? Like a photograph of a test apparatus, or a video, or anything that could actually be called "evidence"? Why believe it, then?
  16. But the OP explicitly said it wanted a key, not to click.
  17. That was the first one I watched last night. (And I picked it partly because of the music.)
  18. Well, since we're doing westerns, I just watched this one last night, and the theme stuck with me: But I just might watch your selection tonight.
  19. Tools for cutting leather can be quite effective. Leather is made of animal skin. I am an animal. Tools for cutting leather are even more effective on skin that has not been tanned.
  20. Not everyone pays attention to the details. My father couldn't even tell you the names of the space shuttles.
  21. Which is a type of astronaut. Oh, yeah. The original astronauts at NASA were well known as being restrained, reserved fellows that never got into any trouble. You misspelled his name. It's properly spelled "Harrison Schmitt".
  22. Yeah, astronauts are known to be extremely stable.

    Math

Because the Party says 1+1=5. Or do we need to go visit Room 101 again, Winston?
  24. Now, see, it's reactionary attitudes like this that are tearing the community apart and are going to make Squad stop wanting to develop the game.
