  1. Don't even mention that movie! I have nothing aganst any race or paying respect to brave people, but that movie was HORRIBLE to watch. Apart from that one movie I have nothing against breaking the physics a bit. I got Interstellar on DVD, watched it three times and still enjoyed it. Maybe that's because I enjoy Nolan's work. Maybe because the music was amazing. It was a well directed movie even though I would love the plot to be a bit more complicated and developed. I enjoy things I like. It may sound dumb, but that's the way it is. Everyone has their own taste.
  2. That would be handy and much desired, but should also be limited in a way. If the probe core is small and surface attachable then it shouldn't have any reaction wheels.
  3. That's a nice idea. If I understand correctly: it's a kind of air breathing engine that uses LF+Ox+air, right? The engine itself seems to be a rather complicated thing to work with when in VAB/SPH. It would have to be a surface attachable part with a built-in intake, correct?
  4. Cool. No pressure then. I'm a uni student myself and I'm actually impressed by how you manage the time to run the whole tournament and keep studying at the same time.
  5. Awesome videos so far @tetryds! The locations look amazing @SuicidalInsanity! Having a blast watching the battles so far and I really would love to play around those carriers in the sea once the mod gets released. The pace at which the battles are released is really nice. Can we expect the last battle of round 1 to happen this week? I'm on the bottom of the list and I can't wait to see how my plane performs!
  6. How do you determine the wing placement on a real life airplane? In KSP we have CoM and CoL indicators, but all that's possible to measure IRL is the CoM and the amount of lift the wings can create at different speeds.
  7. Awwwwww... I thought for a second you can connect to a telescope somewhere in the world and observe planets in real time. Shame there's nothing like that. The app looks ok, but I would like to have the ability to track sats only.
  8. I think the markers would only make a difference if they were different colours for friendly and enemy, though I'm guessing you can just change the vessel type. That changes the marker too. Tonight, a very special battle is about to take place! Team Bases versus Team Rovers!
  9. If you dont know, the ISS Detector is an Android app that let's you detect man made satellites in the night sky. The basic version let's you predict only two types though: the ISS and the Iridium sats. The premium content let's you show the path of the Hubble telescope, X-37 and some other stuff. My question is (if you have it): has anyone bought the premium version? Are Hubble and X-37 bright enough to spot them with the naked eye?
  10. Oooooooh, I know exactly what that song is! The second part though... not sure. Anyway, I have a few problems with the mobile version of the forum. Edited stuff doesn't get saved, can't get rid of the quotation blocks and a few other annoying things, so maybe a better version of the mobile forum could help with that.
  11. I agree. Electric propellers is something I've been wanting for a while. Not sure about the alkaline and nuclear jet engines, BUT we have the NTR and SABRE engines, which were never really used, so why the hell not?
  12. Hey, @Maximus97! I've recently found a game you might like! It's called The Pirate: Caribbean Hunt. The plot is not so good and the UI could look a bit better, but the sailing physics seems to be realistic and very enjoyable. Works for Android and Win 8.1, AFAIK. Thought you might be interested. The game really sucked me in.
  13. Well played, sir. That's actually a really nice mod tbh. Could we also expect kerbals running with golf clubs scoring birdies on the Mun at some point in the future? I would love to see that.
  14. Here's the battle. And I have no idea how to get rid of that quote box.
  15. That's why it should be monitored and get only input information without a way to give any output information AKA provoke a war or grab you with a robotic hand and crush your skull just for the lulz.
  16. I get why people are frustrated about the lack of dV and TWR in the game. I'm not very happy about it too, but the devs don't do it to make us angry. I'm pretty sure they know it's a needed feature, but at the same time lack the occasion/spare time to work on it for some reason. So instead of asking "why don't they do something?" you could check out the change log as it is, at least in my opinion, pretty big every update.
  17. I was thinking about lots of satellites to different interplanetary destinations at once, but completely forgot about the fact that launch windows exist. How about gas giant moons exploration packs? Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to send a lot of satellites + surface landers and/or rovers in order to explore all (or rather majority) of the most interesting moons in the system?
  18. You could ask the same question about any other rocket ever launched. What if Soyuz goes kablooey? What if Falcon goes kablooey? We could sit and think about all those rockets that could go kablooey and never really go anywhere.
  19. $600 per 1kg that's why. You could basically send a whole base or a lot of different satellites destined to a few planets at once. Also massive solar sails, lasers that could be put in low sun orbit and used to propel interstellar probes and missions, solar-powered plants beaming power back to earth, new research stations and many more.
  20. It's logical. If you create a superinteligent AI you want to keep all of it's knowledge and thoughts, and whatever it comes up with for yourself. You want it to teach and educate you, not enslave.
  21. I don't think humanity will create any kind of Skynet any time soon. And even if it happens, I don't think anyone would be so dumb to give it free will and do whatever it wants to do.
  22. Nuclear war or cosmic threat. We either go full dumb mode and kill ourselves or don't pay enough attention to the killeroids. The rest can be dealt with relatively easily, I hope.
  23. Why wasn't Sea Dragon ever built? It would have a very cheap price per kg and could lift the entire ISS into space in one launch. I would assume the research costs were too high or the materials strong enough to withstand such massive construction were not available at the time?
  24. No direct contact please. BUT a cool idea struck my mind. What if there was a super rare contract that would state that there's an unknown object in space and it's on a reentry path somewhere on the planet. It also states when and where it would enter the atmosphere. Then you have to build a super fast jet and go encounter it. Once you get there you see a bright spot of light that you can't catch up to but performing a crew report in the 5km radius from it gives you sick amounts of rep, or something. I'd love to see more easter eggs you can randomly encounter and somehow interact with instead of just looking at them.
  25. Yep. At least having the wind on atmospheric bodies would be nice. Geysers that could flip and wreck your stuff on Vall would be great too.
