Mk 1-2 Capsule... Completely Pointless?
Wjolcz replied to strigon's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I want a DragonV2 alike with 4 crew, built-in engines, RCS and all that jazz. It could be high tier pod and the MK1-2 could be a low tier one. -
How to make ISRU more interesting/useful
Wjolcz replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Wasn't it more about reentries not being deadly enough though? If otherwise then I migh've blacked out during that time, or something. -
How to make ISRU more interesting/useful
Wjolcz replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Not going to argue with Alshain. I will only say: Optional Life Support. Haven't seen a single person complaining about toggleables and heat sliders ruining their game, so I see no reason to force people to play the game with LS. And to counter the incoming "but there are still parts loaded into RAM" argument: there would be 4 parts at maximum and they would use only two textures, if LS was done right. I really don't want this thread to get locked though, so I will say that KAC is also needed if we ever going to get those crew rotation contracts. -

I like this suggestion. Maybe not something like MechJeb AKA "Do The Whole Mission, Because I'm Too Lazy", but simple commands for the rocket ascend profile. Just so you could get out of the atmosphere and do the rest yourself.

How to make ISRU more interesting/useful
Wjolcz replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I didn't say it's not useful. I just think it could have more uses. Well, it might be true, but consider this: You want to explore Joolian moons. You can either launch a mission every time you run out of fuel, or you can set up a fuel outpost on one of the moons and take fuel from there. ISRU gives you an option of reusability and increases the range of exploration dramatically. The problem is the game doesn't encourage you much to use it. Mainly because of it's lack of realism (life support, for example). EDIT: Or think about Laythe exploration. You take the ISRU with you and a jet-powered drone. Instead of landing probes on every island you fly around, gather science and go back to refuel. Then you go again to explore places you haven't been to. Seems cheaper. -
[1.2.x] Aviator Arsenal - World War 2 aircraft weaponry (v1.3)
Wjolcz replied to tetryds's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Ooooooh! That's very pretty. Can we also expect B-29 electric turrets? -
That's how I imagine KSP2 if it ever happens.

People don't like ISRU because it doesn't seem very useful. In my opinion the idea of ISRU is pretty damn cool, but the problem is the game doesn't force you to use it much. Imagine if LS became a thing. Add crew rotation and KIS/KAS-like base maintance contracts and suddenly getting fuel from the surface of the planet becomes a key to keep your base alive. Let's say you have a Duna base and you need to keep it occupied by crew for X years because a contracts tells you to do so. There's also a contracts that tells you to rotate the crew from time to time. The base has a functioning shuttle (that needs refuelling after going to orbit and back) that carries the crew to the interplanetary mothership and retunrs back to base with new colony/base members. You also need to get some new water/other LS resource from the ground, because otherwise your base inhabitants will starve to death. So now ISRU not only keeps your shuttle functional but also keeps your crew alive! So, yeah. We need new stuff to make ISRU more interesting because the base game doesn't cut it. Edit: I think I might also post this in S&DD subforum.

Also 5-way RCS blocks please. -
Does anybody here use their own system of aircraft designation?

I wish I did. I just put random words and letters and forget what they meant after a while. -
Can we talk about Life Support?
Wjolcz replied to Pthigrivi's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Hmm. Guess that's true, but I still would like to have the option to store food in pods and hitchhikers. -
Can we talk about Life Support?
Wjolcz replied to Pthigrivi's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I totally agree that it should be fun and all, but I also think it should be as simple as possible. It needs to be more like "add more hitchhikers filled with food if you don't have enough" instead of having twelve more RAM-noming parts that most of them are just scaled-up versions of the small ones. -
If LS ever comes to stock I would like it to be just like this mod, except with one 2.5m green house part (lab-sized and with big windows) instead of three mulch containers and starvation being more deadly for kerbals.

Can we talk about Life Support?
Wjolcz replied to Pthigrivi's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Oooooh boy. Having this many parts just to have life support is such a bad idea I'm actually kind of upset right now. All that would be needed to have life support is: -All the parts that can hold crew would be either filled with food or crew. Or both. -All the heat, air/water purification would come from the parts that can hold crew. To keep the crew alive they need EC, of course -Green house: works as a food source and can reuse the waste We need only ONE new part and ONE new resource (or two, if you really think waste is needed) if we want to close the loop. -
On the LS topic: There's no need for new parts if life support would be included the right way. Store the food in the parts with crew. Just like IRL. The only thing is needed for LS to work is a greenhouse part that can produce/regenerate food. I will actually be very dissapointed if it doesn't work like that once we get it in stock. To OP: Was expecting KIS/KAS, electric propellers and the refreshment of rocket parts. EDIT: And don't forget about that simple fuel tweakable that hasn't been implemented yet.

Yeah. Except for the whole career and not just a single mission. -
Let the community replace stock vehicles

Voted yes, but it's not necessarily needed. But I would love to see what people can come up with. -
Should Squad add fuel pipes to stock?
Wjolcz replied to -RanZ-'s topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I think transfering fuel through the claw is unrealistic and unnecessary. Shouldn't be allowed. It might be good for grabbing asteroids, but you would never want to bite into a fuel tank with it. I would also love to have other things from KIS and KAS in stock. Using the tools and carrying small pieces in the backpack is great and helpful. Assembling trusses in orbit would also be an amazing thing to do. It's been done to ISS (if I'm not mistaken), so I don't see any reason why shouldn't it be possible in the game. EDIT: Talking about this: -
Transferring mined fuel?

Isn't that the same thing though? You can use both on their own, but having them installed together is super useful. -

I would like to have a chart that would show major breakthroughs, rep, money, your crew deaths, first landings, first orbits, records, etc. If you've ever played Cossacks (or any RTS involving some sort of economy) you'll know what I'm talking about.
