To minimise ring strain you'd need a special 30 degree angled bicoupling docking port, which would be quite easy to bash up in blender.
-
I loved the use of miniatures, they looked incredible.
-
I started by watching some introductory blender tutorials on youtube (blendercookie, a bunch of others) and just looking things up when I needed them. CFG files and unity are very intuitive. Texturing is... well, the people who get great looking stuff have skills, but you can make something look Not Horrible just by obeying some simple rules (texel density, noise, palettes). None of this is very unique to KSP either.

"photograph of a plasticine model" would actually be a really good look for KSP. Realism is overrated.
-
Amazing film, 11/10, go see it. Miles better than gravity.
-
Yay, more KK content! I might contribute something if I can make anything worth a damn. If you're doing the Kerbin City approach to community additions and having a set of shared textures, consider making each city themed around a building material. A red-brick city, a sandstone city, a brutalist concrete city, etc.

They should put a comedy hand on it, and on Exomars, and Mars 2020, so they can meet up and high-five it.
-
I do like ground vehicles, about the only thing I don't think anyone's made yet is a generic super heavy crane/flatbed body, but that large trailer seems most of the way there.

Roverdude, more like prolific dude, amirite?

What gender are the Kerbals we see in the game?
comham replied to peadar1987's topic in KSP1 Discussion
They're all men, because A) Male is our society's view of a neutral, default gender (see stickmen diagrams on toilet doors, men are a simple stickman, women are stickmen with a dress, this is not generally considered a controversial idea even if it is new to you), kerbals are cartoon humans and there's no reason Squad would be exempt from thinking this way if they weren't specifically trying to avoid it, and KSP is themed after the 60's space race, when most astronauts were men. -
The proportions are going to seem a bit off because there's no canonical version, there were several models used for the TV version, there were several contradictory diagrams in various magazines, and I'm also going off the toy one I had when I was a child. Unresearched it is not. Maybe when I've worked on something else for a while I'll come back and work on it some more. I think it has two main flaws right now, it doesn't have much detail to break up the size and the textures look like ass because I just used random noise.

Dupermarionation presents, an interpretation of a balsa wood model from a 50 year old childrens TV show (but designed by Derek Meddings, who is second only to Ralph McQuarrie in mechanical designs) It's Cloudbase, a flying aircraft carrier. Requires kerbal konstructs, works as a launch site for planes. The runway is ~400m long, but falling off isn't quite so bad as screwing up a naval landing, so there we go. https://kerbalstuff.com/mod/292/Cloudbase It's not very high quality, but I'd had it sitting 90% finished for months so I thought if I actually released something it would motivate me to do some other stuff or improve this. That's what I was going for, anyway.

What the fric.....tion?
comham replied to Urb4n0ninj4's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
There is something deeply wrong with surface friction in KSP, I imagine it's something that was set at a placeholder value 2 years ago and never changed, even after the addition of wheels. -

PorkWorks dev thread [Habitat Pack] [SpaceplanePlus]
comham replied to Porkjet's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
We will never get them now, it's the curse of modders being hired by Squad. -

Have you considered using procedurally generated isoball clouds instead of flat layers? The flat layers are good for light cloud since they're transparent, but if you look outside one of the cooler aspects of the sky is big, architectural looking cumulus things.
