  1. The rover concept is shaping up nicely. The only problem I see is coming with the stock wheels and their lack of Carb steering which Nasa MMSEV have. This is mostly affect the usefulness of the side mounted docking ports because the lack of linear side lateral movement ability. An workaround could be to use the Mineshaft Portable Crew Tube for the side docking. Making your own custom wheels with the crab-steering ability,(which will require its own custom plugin), is most likely a challenge and understandably fall well outside the scope of the project. It will be exciting and enjoyable to see the progress of the project. Judging for the quality of your previous work, it will be very good and a "must install" mod. Also the Kerbal Foundries wheels makes some very nice wheels I especially like the "medium rover wheels". http://http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/84102-PARTS-PLUGIN-1-0-x-V1-9f-Kerbal-Foundries-wheels-anti-grav-repulsors-and-tracks
  2. tbh, I think it is more important to learn the concepts of programming rather then just a language. When you have grasped the concept it is not so difficult to change programing language, it is mostly diffrent syntax. The way you need to think and how you approach the problem will be very similar. I would say C# or Java as a first language as they have a quick and easy way to create a graphic user interface.
  3. Looking awesome! looking forward to next release. keep up the good work!
  4. there is also a 6-kerbal pod,the Super 100 Shooting Star Command Pod, here. https://kerbalstuff.com/mod/904/Super%20100%20Shooting%20Star%20Command%20Pod
  5. Another thought: Now when we have a nice blacksmith workshop, for producing parts. I have started trying out the Extraplanetary Launchpads http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/59545-1-0-4-Extraplanetary-Launchpads-v5-2-2 Extraplanetary Launchpads allows you to build new vessels from rocketparts. There is a nice feature where you go out and stake out your launchpad with surveyor stakes and a mallet (using KIS). The suggestion is a inflatable workshop, garage, hangar for said EPL function. Here is a example picture of that kind of inflatable
  6. Try to change your orbital time just a bit (increase/decrease Apoapsis/ Periapsis). The orbital time can become synchronized with the planets rotation, hence the satellite roughly always pass in the same place.
  7. Here is some inspiration for some more stuff for the hexagon truss system. from http://axeman3d.deviantart.com/art/Truss-parts-kit-312059846?q=sort%3Atime%20gallery%3Aaxeman3d&qo=32 I especially like the wedge shaped containers, could be useful as a Cargo/storage containers or different form of habitation modules. Another idea could be to use them vertical in a modular lander design. An inflatable spherical tank would also be nice for creating cool looking interplanetary ships Did some more thinking about a modular container system. quick CAD sketchup... It contains 2 parts, a smaller container like your Pathfinder, bucketboard and a larger one for the DSEV. I imgaine that the larger container is sized so you could stack a number of the smaller ones inside. It all is built upon equal triangales (60 degress corners). It might look better if the sharp angle in the smaller module crossection gets a small chamfer
  8. You also might consider start using Docking port alignment indicator mod http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/43901-0-90-Docking-Port-Alignment-Indicator-%28Version-5-0-Updated-01-09-2015%29 Which makes docking a lot easier.
  9. Is that a integrated connection port on the saddle? If so, very neat! I approve!
  10. You may want to check out the Pathfinder mod http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/122484-WIP-1-0-4-Pathfinder-Geoscience-for-better-resource-extraction-0-1-5
  11. Prime Flux is always overpowered, fact of life. Warning: This statement may contain traces of irony
  12. Glorious! Looking forward to trying it out. A lightpost is something which have been missing for a long time. A nice to have around the base, but often too expensive in total number of parts. Does it comes with built in batteries? Question/suggestion: Could the light pole be used as a base for a solar array? Replace the lights with 2 (circular) solar arrays?
  13. I made a interesting observation today. It concerns the way the weight of a Kerbal is counted. In a command pod a Kerbal weight nothing, the weight of the commandpod remains the same independent of if it contains kerbals or not. This is not the same for the the external command seat. the weight of the seat depends on if it is occupied or not. Hence the intressting observation: If you take a command pod, strap a command seat to it, launch it and then moves the Kerbal from the pod to the seat and presto, the total weight of the vessel increase. Clever Kerbals discover how to create matter Bug or feature?
  14. press and hold alt will temporary disable the ability to surface attach things and only use node attachment
  15. Some more showcase pics. free to use at your discretion Also: Is it possible to get a research lab variant of Ponderosa?
  16. Use module manger http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/55219-1-0-x-Module-Manager-2-6-6-%28June-25%29-With-more-nyan And create a txt-file named topnode.cfg in your gamedata folder. Copy paste this into that text-file or simply change in the shielded dockingport cfg-file
  17. Win7, might be a another mod interference. Strange, I think I have the latest build, will redownload to make sure. Thanks for taking a look Can I also request a battery variant of the Buckboard? I can also see the use of a fuel-cell and a mini ISRU unit but those could benefit from another model, I do think of a open frame box variant of the kis container with some tanks and piping inside. Like a portable generator http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81CO-qEGsxL._SL1500_.jpg Update: I tried a fresh KSP install with only pathfinder,KIS and KAS and nope, no joy with the EVA inflate.
  18. The surface scan module is a tier 7 tech, Science Tech, the Gold Digger Portable is a tier 5 tech. I think a Core sample is one stepp up form surface sample. I am enjoying this mod immensely, thanks
  19. Update: It is possible to switch vessel to the Ponderosa unit and then inflate it. But it still take some time to do, especilly if you have a messy build site. For some reason my Kerbals are sloppy and drops alot of stuff on the ground
  20. I cant inflate the Ponderosas from EVA anymore. Even if I turn off the rocket part requirement. This means I have to connect the Ponderosas to another command nod before inflating it. As you can´t enter the module before it is inflated. Same problem when you want to deflate it. It becomes a moment 22 which is kind of annoying. Mayby you could use the manage operation with a option to active the module in current config and this is what consume rocket parts and inflate/deflate is free.
  21. I did find this intressting. https://github.com/KospY/KIS/wiki/ModuleKISPickup I will try to create dummy part and test it out , when i return to stationary computer in a few days Also I think some of this concept belong in the KIS dev thread, and reading his planed features some of it is already planed.
