Last weeks Dev notes began saying that we are half way through SQUADs volunteer testers testing of 1.1. It is very much appreciated by my myself and would assume many other storeies for you work steamies. BUT from my limited reading and watching, you steamies should not be done this week. SQUAD, it appears that this release, your intentions are to put quality before quantity. I and I beleve many storeies fully support this apparent approach (to our game)* and also a release of 1.1 "when it is done". *steamies

Nice and succinct! Curious how round would you define "gravitationally-rounded"? Also have read that Saturn is the least round planet due to its relatively fast rotation. With the possibility of even faster rotating planets (I don't have the phisics knowledge to even guess) could such a planet be less round than say Vesta? As you seem to have put quite some thought into your solar system definitions. If you have the time and sure I don't mind you calling me no one I am interested in your thoughts. Edit not really applicable after a bit of reading https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrostatic_equilibrium#Planetary_geology

Ok that would appear to make sense. I like your ideas on the definition. I will have to put some more thinking and reading into that. Thanks.

Dominant mass sounds reasonable so why is Planet defined (from my understanding) using the term "Cleared its orbit" if dominant mass is intended? The use of definitely. Wow impressively confident. Smiley face. If I have a misunderstanding a correction with a reference would be appreciated.
-
If I understand correctly wouldn't it be a dwarf planet by definition as it has not cleared its orbit. Possibly a new class of object is needed, Giant Dwarf Planet. Finding it a bit disappointing that some with such positions in astronomy and qualifications continue to keep referring to this new proposed object as 'Planet Nine'.

With console versions on the way and their relatively small dev team, I would guess $ for SQUAD is not a major concern for them. However once KSP is released on consoles they may have a problem if they intended to do their banking through Panama.

Does anyone actually use the first level runway?
bonyetty replied to Prasiatko's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yes I choose to only use the 1st level runway in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are fun- 95 replies

As qualified Kerbanauts they are well aware you have put them in a conceptual air craft with the critical parts lacking their primary function. Low drag. http://m.aviationweek.com/awin/nasa-boeing-test-low-drag-truss-braced-wing-concept

The lack of a numerical display of DeltaV and also placing some read outs like radar distance and Ap etc on different view modes IVA and map view respectively. Is I feel, and am assuming, that one of the reasons SQUAD does this is to 'forces' players to gain a more in depth understanding of rocket and space phisics. It did for me. Thanks SQUAD.

Like most, it seems, of the KSP pre career old timers I prefer sandbox. I have tried each release to play career but return to sandbox with one or two tiers to go in the tech tree. HarvesteR created an amazing novel game. I feel that creativity of this grandeur is very rare. The wonderful fundamentals of KSP gave me a false hopes and expectations of what career mode would be. Hey Einstein was expected to equal or better his theory by many. Career mode to me is a game mechanic that has been done many times before and this is the primary reason I predominantly play sandbox. I like new shiny creative things but like new shiny creative ideas more.

Stop drawing fuel across stages?
bonyetty replied to martincmartin's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Right click the top tank and left click the green arrow next to the liquid and oxidizer bars to lock the fuel in the tank. Running a fuel line from the bottom tank to the top tank may also achieve what you desire but I have not tested this. Should work in theory though. -
Mmm don't know why peeps were thinking that a balloon shaped like a dinner plate should fall faster than a rover 1/10th the balloons size and 10 times its mass. Hello, physics. These peeps must have less than an hour in KSP game time I guess. Oops sorry Warzous didn't mean to quote you. And don't know how to remove a quote. You may be on to something.

Let's talk about fairings for a second...
bonyetty replied to Kerbin vonKerbal's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This allowed me to play with rockets again and not just aircraft. It also allows clam shell fairings too. I am also hoping that it wont break stock saves for 1.1. -
Why I really appreciate the Kerbal players here
bonyetty replied to RocketBlam's topic in KSP1 Discussion
True but we wouldn't want to be dishonest and clam to have a non-human-centric view. Or are you keeping a secret? -

Thanks heaps for the quick reply. ok will try when available. It's not me and a fix yippee. probably not relevant and no explanation required not needed From Github yes because this noob misquoted! v0.19.0 BREAKING CHANGES As usual, you must recompile any KSM files when using the new version. -
[1.3] kOS Scriptable Autopilot System v1.1.3.0
bonyetty replied to erendrake's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Thanks Steven. Yes I have the kOS 19.1 file. I deleted the old version of KOS and put KOS19.1 in its place. The text box in KOS now just has green rectangles instead of green text. Super new to programming btw hence why in keen on KOS. Update blog for KOS 19.0 says something about "reformat as usual..." Um reformatting is not something I usually do. I do know that KOS writes outside gamedata in KSP to the script file. Do I possibly delete this to? Mods to manage mods sounds like an even harder thing to get correct from my perspective. I have reverted and have KOS 18.? working. How do I remove KOS 18.? and install KOS 19.1 please? -
[1.3] kOS Scriptable Autopilot System v1.1.3.0
bonyetty replied to erendrake's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
How to update to kos to 19.1? Struggling to finds instructions to do this. -
Oh sorry. If you wish to see beautiful reflections and the like when playing KSP. You could place a desk light and shine it on the computer screen and enjoy the beautiful luminous effects you have created yourself. Surely it is more satisfying to admire your own creations than someone else's. Couldnt resist . Yes I agree some of the visual effects of refraction and reflection of light can be aesthetically pleasing. When playing KSP sometimes it can be helpful to be able to identify parts of the image as small as a single pixel. I beleve what you desire would likely make playing KSP more difficult in a less fun way.
-
You could just place a desk light or similar and shine it on your computer screen if you wish to obstruct your view when playing KSP.

How to heat-proof ships?
bonyetty replied to quasarrgames's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Small antenna on the front of nose cones can work to protect nose cones from heating and what's behind them in some circumstances. -
The Kraken gave me trouble with hard mode. Now I have Luke in an Xwing on top of my computer screen. If he is watching no reverts unless the Kraken and when I am testing or mucking around he gets turned around. My wife now taunts me when Luke is watching. "Oooo lukes watching who ya gona kill on this mission".
