SAS makes my plane bounce
Specialist290 replied to dlrk's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Whoa, this is a blast from the past... I think the thread OP might have moved on to other issues by now. That being said, thread closed. Have a nice day -
Ooh, this looks incredibly handy. Think I'll add it to the Drawing Board

Impressive mission there Shame about the mishaps, but ultimately the complications made for a better story all around. Planning on sharing the rescue / return mission as well?

reaally small stock jet pack!
Specialist290 replied to Itsjustrocketscience's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Clever little design you have there. (Looks like it needs a bit more testing, though ) -
Alright, before this little argument escalates any further: Offering up criticism on an add-on, when done constructively and in good faith, is acceptable. Refuting that criticism, when also done in good faith, is also acceptable. Insulting other users' intelligence, name-calling, and other forms of harassment, are not acceptable, and we of the moderation staff will assess and punish it accordingly if it continues. Please keep this in mind as you continue this discussion.

Hmm... Has my Internet connection gotten any better in the year or so since I posted this? Huh. It actually has, slightly.

So What Exactly Is Delta-V?
Specialist290 replied to Kennedy988's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Friendly Moderator Reminder: Whether or not it's "right" or "proper" to play with or without mods is a separate topic, and one that's often been contentious in the past at that. Let's not stray too far off-topic, folks -
Welcome to the forums! Glad to hear you've decided to take the plunge and get active in the community. Feel free to ask questions (or help other people with theirs), share your favorite stories and screenshots, or just generally make yourself at home.

Anyone read the Culture novels by Ian M. Banks?
Specialist290 replied to JethroReading's topic in The Lounge
I haven't, but I keep hearing good things about Banks in general and the Culture books in particular. They're certainly on my reading list. -

Nicely done! Love to see a good real-world craft replica. -
I lived in the city briefly while I was attending college down there. I still live in-state, but further east now.

Newbie Question about missions
Specialist290 replied to Daeromont's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Welcome to the forums! I'm assuming you're having trouble with the "Test [Part]" contracts specifically? The wording on those can be a little confusing. You have to activate the part in question when you meet all the conditions listed; if it's already active, then the game won't register the contract as completed. -
Question about RCS thrusters
Specialist290 replied to Kevlarburrito's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Thread moved to Gameplay Questions. Carry on -
Welcome to the forums! Glad to hear that you've clearly been enjoying the game very much. I know the Mun seems like a daunting objective right now, but with time, patience, and practice (and maybe the assistance of a few of the tutorials collected in the Drawing Board; see the convenient link in my signature) I'm sure you'll get there eventually. Be sure to let all of us know when you do! As for the avatar: New users go into a special "Curious George" user group that puts certain restrictions in place on forum activity. Basically, until you've been vetted as "not a spambot" by the system, us moderators have to manually evaluate your posts, and certain privileges such as custom avatars and signatures are disabled. Once you've had ~3-5 posts and we're sure you're human, you'll be released from these restrictions and free to post without interference. See our handy New User FAQ for more details. Hope this helps, and hope you enjoy your time on the forums!

That's an impressive machine there. I like the carrier-parasite layout for the craft; don't see that too often

Do text-only mod forks require a posted source code?
Specialist290 replied to Northstar1989's topic in Kerbal Network
The specifics will depend on the terms of the license itself and / or the explicit permissions you've gotten from the creator (if any), but that's generally the case, yes. -
I'm bored. I need some inspiration.
Specialist290 replied to SpaceLaunchSystem's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I have tried for literally almost a year to convince bored KSP'ers to build a replica moai statue out of structural panels and land it on the island with the old runway. For some reason, no one ever does -
Stock fairings?
Specialist290 replied to lukeoftheaura's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
To expand a little on what Pecan has said: You may want to take a look at the Open-Source Construction Techniques for Craft Aesthetics thread and do a Control-F search for "fairing." I'm convinced that some of those guys over in the Spacecraft Exchange are actually wizards, what with all the clever tricks they find for things like this in the stock game. -
Rosetta, Philae and Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
Specialist290 replied to Vicomt's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Friendly moderator reminder: Let's keep the discussion on the technical details of the mission itself, and not on the cosmological implications, as that is technically off-topic and runs the risk of devolving into a discussion of pseudo-scientific theories which aren't allowed on this forum.
