[SOLVED] Returning from EVE (6 months trying...)
Tw1 replied to extremez3r0's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Well done! I can't link it as I'm on my phone, but how I dealt with Eve is in my Sig (orange words). To some, clever engineering. To others, cheating. I haven't done a regular Eve run yet. Also, I think I reped the wrong post. I meant your one below that. -
Doesn't look too bad, either!

OK, trying out things in 0.90. Watsan's specialization is scientist. Seems right. I'll have to be careful with those wheels though, might wait and see if some way to add the wheel repair skill to specific kerbals emerges. Dontop and Seetop are engineers, Joefel and Mallie are also sceintists. Looks like I got lucky, them and a few other important kerbals have all emerged with suitable roles. Perfect. Also, I ran out of Christmas cards, but I found this strange, Prograde City branded postcard in a service station near KSC. So I stuck a sticker on, and wrote on it: Uh, Merry Christmas!

Long-term Laythe Mission (pic heavy) - ^_^ With Part 45 ^_^
Tw1 replied to Brotoro's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
That's alright, I won't be playing until some time after christmas either. Will use when you are ready to release. -

I got a new weather station with a wireless sensor and lots of functions. It is now giving me readings about humidity, temperature and stuff. Also a space pictures calendar, a book one drawing, a new boogie board, and some organisation stuff. Also a bookmark/electronic dictionary, but that was a super late birthday present. They're still going? I haven't one for ages, is he out of highschool yet? Don't know if it's still the sort of thing I'd read. Not a 'real' tree, but our Pinus Plasticocha has served us many many years, looks just as good, and lacks any risk of setting of a friend's allergies. It's quite realistic, even drops pine needles....
-
This is a bit of a design flaw. Some ideas for fixing this include having the stations you set up for others vanish after you leave them. Personally I'd rather there be more use for them in the game, and it doesn't have to ask you to put them there. If the science system was more than a point collection mechanism, they could be research and training stations, which boost your rep, and skill up your kerbals.
-
But then she'll miss out on information and context.
-
I found a strange unknown object approaching KSC in the tracking station.
-
The fanworks forum is a bit odd like that at times. But yes, these are very awesome drawings of plernerts. Very awesome.
-
I thought of that too! I find landing legs aren't that important, unless you're in high gravity, or need it to spread out how much ground the lander covers for balance reasons. But then, I like to do very soft landings.

Long-term Laythe Mission (pic heavy) - ^_^ With Part 45 ^_^

That is a big stack of tugs. It does make me wonder if those spires aren't turrets for some secret defence system by microscopic intelligent life. Beta particles. Clever. Who knows what the bremsstrahlung rays do to kerbal minds. The names are good choices, pronunciation shouldn't be affected at all. It does seem like a waste that sustaining a long living, productive space program which explores and tests thoroughly is not something on squad's plans at the moment. It should be. And I agree about probe cores needing some rotation force at least, even if the have no actual SAS. Well done Jumpster! Does this work for all older saves, or does it need to be tailored to suit a file? I also have an old save that could do with some fixing. Oh! Also, Merry Christmas! Where did I put those cards?... -
There is a tree mod part that should still be available here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/27273-I-am-SO-grateful-to-have-such-an-awesome-community-here-on-KSP/page3?p=335733#post335733 Probably needs the CFG file modified, by putting part { and } at the beginning and end to make it work in newer versions of ksp though.
-
My work here is done. Some trivia: Jingle bells wasn't made as a Christmas song, it's just a song about a guy in an sleigh who has some mishaps. This is once reason why other versions are better. Colin Buchanan versions are actually about Christmas. Merry christmas everyone!

[Updated September 27th] A Planet Divided: The Story of the Kold War
Tw1 replied to NQMT's topic in KSP Fan Works
I almost missed this! Opps. Poor Desdin. He got quite an unlucky run. He didn't seem inconsistent to me, so well done. Getting characters right is tricky. An interesting interpretation of the jetpack system. I thought for a moment that the solar panels had been forgotten, but then, the USKK wouldn't have become that sloppy. Was that a new mod used for the engine fire, or image editing techniques? -
If it's in my roleplay or story making save, it gets something witty or appropriate, or silly.. With some indication of role and function. In career, Most things are left unnamed, unless it's something I might re-use, then I use the above pattern.
-
Agreed. Probes aren't that useful when playing a career game atm. Some simple, easy, yet ballance changing life support would be good. Single resource, able to be topped up from the right places, etc. Remote tech is pretty cool, but I'm not sure it's quite right for pure stock games. A more simple set of range limit, or perhaps varying levels of data loss could be a way to differentiate between the antennas. You could do networks that way. Simpler than remote tech, but still promotes setting up your own satellite network -this gets you thinking and planning, not just passively following the contracts. Agreed, it would make sense, and would allow you to take them more frequently without cluttering the map or save file. Unless the contracts are modified to give satellites life spans, after which you must deorbit the satellite, or face some penalty. Though making them disappear should be optional- done with a stop tracking button.
-
Would it be possible to add extra traits to a specific kerbal via module manager?

Abusable Contract Mechanics
Tw1 replied to WanderingKid's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I too would support introducing long term contracts. There could be a mechanism for 'research' contracts if you have a station or base with the right parts and kerbals. But, sucking to satellites for now, I think some could run for a few years, ideally, balanced SOI Kerbin gets a start network, that you they paid for, but doesn't case saves to get over cluttered. Then again, I've been rationalizing the terminate flight button as another 'stop tracking type thing. -
Nice breakdown. It is a pity it's just place based, setting up a station for training kerbals could have been a cool mechanism. Maybe someone with more orbit smarts could work out a Mun-Minmus-edge of SOI cycler. I do like that Kerbals who haven't left the kerbin SOI can't get that much experience- it saves the full five stars for veterans.

And there was I, out in the warmth, restoring our backyard's house of spiders into a cubby house suitable for my cousin's son to play in, an epic feat that will be greatly exaggerated to preserve the reputation of Australian wildlife.Wait, they weren't meant to hear that... Yeah, Christmas is a little different here, but it's the way I like it. Plus, I have a new Aussie Kerbal Christmas song for you guys. This song looks at what an outdoor, Aussie style christmas day can be like. This was meant to look like a tin can and ute, but turned out closer to the enterprise. Merry Christmas Everyone!
