Not bad, some interesting spacecraft. The ending was a bit odd though.

I like that last one. Your kerbals all look like they have guts, and attitude. Also, the code for the official colour is #BADA55, but I quite like the style you've got going with these darker ones.

The Official Kerbin Cup Tournament Thread - Final Entries Posted
Tw1 replied to Rowsdower's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Go modders. *Waves pompom.* (Or rather, doesn't...) But I made one more Team Jedi poster, which cheers them on. Hopefully, there will be a forum victory! -
A very good point. Frankly, the dedication of KSP modders, or anyone who makes an elaborate mod is amazing. It's true, we come to rely on them, (It is fortunate when people are willing to pass on their work when they can no longer maintain it), but at the core, they are fan made, as a hobby. We have no real entitlement to anything.

Going To Moho--The Jedi Master 2000 Post Special
Tw1 replied to The Jedi Master's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This was my Moho vessel. It made use of hybrid ion engines, which had comparable ISP to nuclear, but where lighter. The back was the get-there bit, the middle was my clever little two stage rover lander thing, and the bit docked to the front would take the remaining fuel from the lander, and tow the capsule home. My lander had been tested on the Mun, but barely had the TWR to land- Moho has slightly more gravity. However, a sudden unplanned disassembly , and the fact that I'd launched into wrong the made it impossible to rendezvous with the return module, and still have enough Delta-V. Instead, I had to send this to recover the capsule: Moho has some interesting rocks, but really, you go there for the view of the sun: -
Stupid things you've made to do missions in career mode

This is the one of the coolest bugs out. But their lack of helmets...

Being on CSM duty didn't stop Jeb from seeing the Moon up close. There's the others! Time to return. Jebediah. Nothing will stop that magnificent badass.

He wandered far and wide, before ultimately concluding the ugly booster was no longer on the sweet face of Kerbin. His quest was to take him beyond the skies, to that final frontier: Space.

Going To Moho--The Jedi Master 2000 Post Special
Tw1 replied to The Jedi Master's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Moho is a hard little rock. Good luck, don't worry about overbuilding with this one. -
This is a really good point. ...I can confirm it means this.

Not about making it look male, but about making it look Kerbal. So it ought to have feminine characteristics, yet not look more human than the male Kerbal.
-
I think these are still a bit to humanish- it ought to be more true to the original if you're going to make a mod for them. The male kerbal's head is about equal to the hight of its body, where as in this female, the body looks 1.5 heads long. The proportion ought to be maintained. The Kerbals' big round eyes, and the strabismus are another identifiable feature, it seems a bit odd to make them oval. Plus the pits around the eyes make the face look a bit too flat. Plus, the body does seem very human like, when those strange proportions kerbals have makes them look like they could be stable walking, despite the huge head. The jutting out hips, and huge feat are important. I think a female one ought to be a lot closer to the existing kerbal. It should look like a kerbal, not just a green humanoid alien. At the moment, it feels too close to this trope:http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HumanoidFemaleAnimal, which strikes me as lazy design, as well as having a few other issues two.... If it's just fan art, do what you want. But in most debates I've seem on the female kerbal's form, the consensus boils down to much like the male kerbal, but a little curvier. So for a mod, it would have to be definitelly kerbalish. Brotoro's version of the female kerbal is a good one to keep in mind. It's subtle, yet clearly feminine next to the original male. There's also this: Tanuki uses this female kerbal as her avatar. A big reason to have female kerbals in the game eventually, is so that female players feel properly represented. And here we have a kerbal design that is female approved, sort of.... If you guys manage to pull of a female kerbal mod, that will be great. But if it doesn't look kerbal, I think many will probably stick to texture replacer, and a little imagination.

Yes. (Fictional Darwin Space Center)

It's a planet on re-entry! Wesa all gonna die!!1!

Finally! A thread! We missed you in the earlier round banter. It's a little late for that now, so: You have The Force of The Forum behind you! (And you guys can even fix the mod if it breaks...)

Yes. Such is the way of internet grammar correcting. -
[24.2] Karbonite Ongoing Dev and Discussion
Tw1 replied to RoverDude's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
That should be 'its' not "it's". The first is possessive, what you have there is a contraction of "it is". This post brought to you by the internet grammar police, your friendly(er) grammar inspectors. *walks away humming the theme from The Bill. (An older version, not the new one that was all different and probably contributed to the cancelling of the show)* Anyway, this mod looks interesting. People have tried before to make a rival for Kethane, but I *remember* don't them having a lot of success. It could be interesting to try both, if you get everything up and running. -
At the moment, KSP is really more about engineering than science. Most of the contracts are engineering based- testing parts. While this is fine, KSP would feel a lot more fleshed out if space science was better represented.. While it could equally be due to the fact that KSP is not fully developed, some of the simplicity in the science missions makes me wonder if there's a certain mentality in the dev team- after all, KSP was once a simple rocket building game. I'd like to offer some things for the devs to think about when fleshing out the contracts in the future: Astrobiology/Search for life. The search for life on other planets is a big motivator behind many human space missions. Maybe the kerbals aren't as concerned as us about looking for life, but this sort of thinking could be used to come up with interesting contracts. Or at least, flavour text for contracts. Looking for life overlaps considerably with... Astrogeology At its core, science comes from (ker)man's desire to know. In this case, know how the solar system formed, know the processes that shape each planet, and what their conditions are like. On top of that, geological investigation is important in the search for life, by both determining if a planet could've been habitable in the past, and finding anomalous readings that suggest the presence of microbes. Bio/geo overlap, so might the contracts. Some possible examples might be: We think _____ area on Duna might have once been suitable for life. Transmit five samples 1.8 Km. apart. From past data, Eeloo seems to have an underground sea. Look for evidence for this in the gas plumes it gives of. (pass over its south pole.) These might be best unlocked once you've already at/been to the targets. Radiophysics experiments Those scientists can do a lot with the right radio beam. My favourite example is Cassini's relativity experiment. Something like that would be simple to set up in KSP: We don't quite understand the details, but ----- has come up with a way to test the theory of relativity. When a spacecraft orbiting the sun is opposite Kerbin, transmit a signal. We'll do the rest. Or, this kind of contract could be more complex: Have two spacecraft in orbit around Jool. Have one transmit a signal. (You could add more specific orbital parameters to this.) Read up on real life space missions-NASA and ESA have some great resources out there. Or why not just talk to NASA? I know the devs probably don't read this forum regularly, but I hope this gets into the proper channels. Remember, science, not just engineering.

I'm glad it was acutally, it's a little cliche, and ruins some of the fun of being the first to land there. It distracts from the space exploration, and I like kerbal better without a set story. th It reminds me of when I was playing the first Spectrobes, and got the ancient spacecraft working. It was a little disappointing to find the out of reach planets covered with signs of past inhabitance.

Gravity - Coming Soon, THEATERS ARE NOT INVENTED!
Tw1 replied to Qwerty1999's topic in KSP Fan Works
Um... looks you've kinda used Hayoo's drawing without acknowledgment or permission... That's a no-no. Edit: Can I offer some advice? Make stuff because you think it's awesome. Make stuff you'll be happy to look back on yourself, even if only a few people have acknowledged it. Rep, and comments are awesomely encouraging, and it's always nice to know other people are enjoying the things you make, but if you make things just to seek them, you're gonna have a bad time. Believe me, I've been on these forums a while, and have some idea how things go down. It seems to me that you've got the basics of image editing. If you want to pursue it, it will take time, and work cultivating your own creativity. I don't think you're there yet, but if it's something you want to learn, go for it. It can be great fun. -
The 2014 Officially Unofficial Apollo 11 Recreation Thread
Tw1 replied to The Jedi Master's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm a little late, and will have a full album once they get home, but: The Cheezle has landed. -
Their colour is #BADA55.... Yeah, I know that didn't help. Most consider them green... Welcome to the Kerbal forums!
-
Crashing frequently, but some of that is due to not yet updated mods.
-
It was a shuttle- every engine on it at launch (apart from SRBs) was still there at landing, for reusability. Though in initial experiments, it was basically a plane with a mainsail.
