  1. I'm not sure about the others, a rest may be in order. For me, it depends on what it is, and how busy I am.
  2. They can go out on the roof for that. Perhaps the upper ones are meeting/snack rooms, for the scientists? Maybe the lower one is a science lounge room. For scienceing in.
  3. I was quite happy with them counting one day as several passes of Kerbol. It made life on kerbin interesting to imagine.
  4. No, it isn't. Asteroids, like other non-planet objects, aren't loaded unless you're within 2.5 km of them. This would require asteroids to be visible from much further away. Plus, the amount you'd need is preposterous. You couldn't get them in a lifetime without hacking the save, and even then... Maybe this needs some revision... You could challenge people to make shapes with asteroid chains? A cube of asteroids, or pyramid might be doable.
  5. I agree, satellites is something they ought to have as missions, along with space tourism, and more real life style science activities. However, at present, they don't seem to have companies which are appropriate for all of these.
  6. There is no wrong way. We did the same thing when this version of the space center first came out. I'm not sure what's what. I imagine of the two largest complexes, one closest to the VAB may be the engineering labs, and the other, sample analysis labs. It could be that facilities differ on different floors though. Those two could also be divided into wings. Perhaps part of the building near the VAB is holds physics labs. Some floors could be dedicated to computer systems. While it does look like an observatory, it's not well placed. It would be more practical to have it on the mountains, above the atmosphere, and away from rocket debris dust. Though, if it wasn't for the tubey thing, I'd speculate on that being the astronomy departments. The last building, I'm not sure about. It does look like some large equipment installed there, wind tunnel maybe. Flight testing? Aerodynamics labs? I think the kerbals might have spread things out a bit, which makes sense kind of if you're expecting spacecraft bits to come falling from time to time.
  7. Agreed. This propaganda war was awesome.
  8. When it came down to it, Team Jedi was limited by the one resource that ultimately limits us all: Time. Between commitments of Work and Family we did our best, making use of a pass-the-save and pass-the-craft file system to take advantage of our differing time zones. Initially, Sdj64 and Tygoo experimented with VTOL devices, with the idea of draining the fuel from the leg, and towing it to orbit. I didn't have that much confidence in my VTOL skills, so instead worked on rover designs for tipping the segments upright. Our first breakthrough came when Sdj64 brought us the "Super Wacklifter 2", a semi-reliable, rover type device which could flip, and launch a leg segment. I took the design, experimented with it, and, developed the larger, and more reliable "Mega Wacklifter" set of vehicles, which was able to take segments to orbit. Here is an album of the launches: Now it was time to assemble the sections in orbit. This task was carried out by Sdj64, with a set of neat little orbital tugs. You've probably seen most of those pictures, so I'll just link them: http://imgur.com/a/6q0Xd#0. Now at this point, time was getting pretty short. The save was passed, and Tygoo7 began attempting to fly it somewhere. Unfortunately, here the cracks began to show. The Arkingthaad was hard to turn, prone to spinning, and we had no non-stock parts on the Arkingthaad at this point. Tygoo7 didn't quite manage to get to Minmus, before running out of time. With Sdj64 held up with work, and myself hundreds of km from my computer, it fell to Jedi, with the least computer power of all of us to make one last attempt. Unfortunately, he too was unable to control the best. So if you want to see an Arkingthaad tour, I only have this, which was achieved with the full power of mechjeb days later: Two more teams remain. From Monday, the grand final begins. We have a message for them: Do not underestimate the power of the Forum. It surrounds us and gathers us; it binds us kerbal players together. It gives us kerbalists strength, and power. May the best team win!
  9. It's sad to say this is the end of Team Jedi, but we had a good run. Our challenge sum up is in our thread, with pictures, words and everything. https://imgur.com/a/s7RN0 Well done team mod-makers. May the Force ever be in your favour, and always be equal to mass times acceleration. ↑ Click here for awesomes ↑
  10. I agree with this idea. I'd be happy with it mod, or stock, as long as there was a penalty (rep loss) for warping for years and years without doing anything.

    Jeb's Song

Definitely Well, maybe verse four will be extra powerful to kerbals who've had their missions suddenly extended indefinitely, but stranded? That's not something any kerbal should worry about. No, this is just a song to make citizens of Kerbin feel all patriotic, and warm inside. And less likely to complain about stuff. Anyway, go get your copy now! Available at the KSC gift shop, Astronaut Complex, ground floor, and all good music stores Kerbin wide! (Small parts make it unsuitable for children under 2.) (Batteries, and solar panels not included, we forgot to add them.)
  12. That was the apollo unit itself, and the upper stage. I used a lot of part clipping to keep things looking and working right, yet still having plenty of Delta-V to do the job. A fair amount went into the upper stage's tanks, fairings, and (very clustered) engines, so if I find sufficient mod parts, I should be able to cut it down a bit.

    Jeb's Song

Thanks! Awesome, I'll take that as a success. Jeb will be selling signed copies outside the astronaut complex tomorrow, but you'll have to catch him before he flies away. Hmmm... can't really see it. Maybe because the original tune is so well stuck in my head.
  14. Ok, I might try one of those. I'm not going to use Real Fues though, as that might take extra time to learn. I might try my stock Apollo, on a procedural tanks Sat-V. In the mean time, here is my flight from last year. It wasn't perfect, I took a few liberties, made a few mistakes, and one of my kerbals.... Well, you'll have to read it and see.
  15. I was working on a stock, RSS Apollo look and act alike, but it refused to load past 2228 parts. If someone can recommend me some massive mod engines, I'll have another go, using mod parts Saturn-V.

    Jeb's Song

This song wasn't written by Jeb, it was written by his agent. They had been contracted by the Kerbin government department of propaganda and optimism to create a patriotic video. I don't have the video, just these stills and lyrics, but I hope you enjoy it anyway. Jebediah: ♫♪♫♪ I've been, to planets, with no signs of life, ♫♪♫♪♫ ♫♪♫♪ From Duna, to Eve, Dres, Jool and Moho, ♫♪♫♪ ♫♪♫♪♪ But wherever I roam, in the deep depths of space, ♫♪♫♪♪ ♫♪♪♫♪ I still call old Kerbin home. ♫♪♫♪♫♪ ♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪ Jebediah: ♫♪♫♪ I'm always flying, I love being free, ♫♪♫♪♪ ♫♪♫♪ And so I keep leaving the dirt and the sea. ♫♫♪♫♪ ♪♪♪♫♫ But though, my heart lies, with the sun, mun and stars , ♪♫♫♪♪ ♪♫♪♪♪ I still call old Kerbin home. ♫♫♪♪♪ ♫♫♪♪♪♪♫♫♪♪♪♪♪♫♫♫♪♪♪♫♫♪♪ Choir: ♫♪♪♫♪ All the brave explorers, flying 'round the sun, ♫♪¢♪♫♪♪ ♪♪♪ Away from their family and friends. ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪♫But as outer space gets deeper, and colder, ♪♪♪♫♪♪ ♪♪♫♫♪♪ It's good to know, where your journey ends. ♪♪♫ ♪♪♪♪♫♪♪♪♫♪♫♫♪♪♪♫♪♪♪♪♪♫♫♪♫♪♪♫♪♫♫♫♪♪♫♪♪♪♪♪♫♫♫♫ ♪♪♪♪♫♪♪♪♪♪♪♫♫♫♫♪♪♪♫♫♫♫♫♪♪♪♪♫♪♫♫♪♪♫♫♫♫♪♫♫♫♪♪ Choir: ♪♪♫♫And someday, we'll all be, together once more, ♪♪♫♫ ♫♫♪♪♫ When all the spaceships come back to the floor. ♫♪♪♫ ♪♫♪♫♪ I'll realize, something, that I've always known, ♪♫♫♫♪ ♪♪♫♫♪♪ I still call old Kerbin home. ♫♪♫♪♫♪ All: ♪♫♪♪♫ But no matter, how far, in deep space I roam, ♪♫♪♪ Choir: ♪♫♪♫♪ I still call old Kerbin, ♪♫♪♫ Jebediah: ♪♪♫♪♪ I still call old Kerbin, ♪♪♫♫♫ ♪ All: ♪♫♪♫♪♫«I stiiiill, caaall old Ker-bin, home! ♪♫♪♫♫♫♪♫ There. Now if that doesn't get your kerbals feeling inspired, there's something wrong with them. This idea randomly came to me yesterday. As you might not know, I'm parodying this: Apologies to QANTAS, Peter Allen, and the Australian Girls Choir and National Boys Choir. Other kerbal parody songs by me: Six White Boosters What do we do with a Drunken kerbal? 'Twas the night before 0.22... (poem) Aussie Kerbal Jingle Bells Space Lightning
  17. updated thingie didn't work. Moderators, please remove this one.
  18. I disposed of some surplus equipment from Kerbin Cup activities: Discovered an interesting glitch effect: And began teaching kerbals to sing. Not really. But the new kerbal astronauts choir does look good. This is interesting. An easter egg? Do others know of this? Also, to post images, you must first put them in an image hosting website. Flickr, imgur, photobucket, whatever.
  19. Kingdom hearts was not available on platforms that I owned when I wanted to get it one time! You will be executed for Treason! Umm, my favorite mythological creature is the mermaid.
  20. So, today I needed to recover Jeb from a surplus Kerbin Cup vessel, and bring him home for a photoshoot. I wanted to use a space plane for this, but didn't feel like making one. So I used one of yours. It performed adequately. Lift of was Ok, though Bob didn't seem to like it. It got to space just fine. Bob was happy then, and climbed around on the wing during the wait untill apoapsis. Set out two of the panels manually. Successfully rendezvoused with the vessel, and recovered Jeb and crew. Proceeded with landing. Jeb was quite content in the back. I came down a little early, and had to fly to KSC with the remaining liquid fuel. Eventually made it, then parked outside the SPH. Jeb tried out the cool little rover tucked in the back. It's a very nice vessel, and if you fly it well, you will go to space today. Though some improvements could be made, if I may offer my critique: You have no pre-set engine action groups, this could be useful. The craft wobbles a little when in SAS is on. The VTOL engines currently don't have access to fuel. The front tanks aren't linked to the rear tanks, making 480 units of liquid fuel inaccessible. There are solar panels very close to the door, and are at risk of breakage when you go EVA. It's pretty maneuverable, got a good amount of cross range, doesn't glide to well, but I can see uses for it. I'd definitely recommended an updated version as a good three kerbal shuttle craft.
  21. This looks good! Welcome to the Kerbal Space Program forum!
  22. Well, you have my interest.
  23. No. My save has been going since version 20. I will not throw away anything. I will edit segments if necessary, but have no intention to throw away everything I've slowly worked through. I like the way they've handled things so far- if save breaking is necessary, pile everything that will break it into the one update. As I'm big on the story forming and roleplay aspects, having an important save breaking is a big loss to me. As would be not continuing it with the new features an update brings. The way saves are formated makes it not too hard to add new sections. Many mods do this when added. Only a radical overhaul of the whole system would lead to saves breaking beyond repair.
  24. I also like the MK3, but not so much for planes. It makes a stylish end to my rover. It definitelly needs some polishing, perhaps a little reshapement, but I'd miss the angularity it brings, despite how it's hard to make aerodynamic looking planes with it, without other MK3 parts. Though you can always use the MK3 parts...
  25. Seeing as I was away for the last few days of the last Kerbin Cup challenge, (A trip to "The Dish" a.k.a, Parkes Radio Telescope) I decided to take my team's Arkingthaad for a spin. Arkingthaad obscured incase there are any identifying markings, or something. That is a great name for a base. That is beautiful.
