Time warp rotation issue
Tw1 replied to horndgmium's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
This would be a pest sometimes, I'd rather have something that preserves rotation, so that we can build permanently rotating stations. -
The Official Kerbin Cup Tournament Thread - Final Entries Posted
Tw1 replied to Rowsdower's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Training is underway at the Minmus Institute of Space Science, Sport and Stuff. We have yet to master fine ball control, but anything is possible through the power of the force. (I'm in the Jedi Team, incase you missed that. Let's see how far we go....) -
Reached the "Invasion of Earth" endgame stage... Discovered "Reentry Squares" while learning to heatsheild. Commenced the invasion! Dun Dun Dun Dun?

How does KSP's water physics work?
Tw1 replied to cantab's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Don't think of it as a fluid, but a surface that produces buoyancy-like forces. Girders are the best for making "buoyant" structures in my experience- my Eve Oceans Explorer has an internal I-beam structure, that lifts its waterline significantly. -
[Updated September 27th] A Planet Divided: The Story of the Kold War
Tw1 replied to NQMT's topic in KSP Fan Works
Imgur. It's easy, and I have had no bandwith problems. -
Would you like other solar systems?
Tw1 replied to FiresThatBurn's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I'm not convinced it's necessary. Take a look at NASA's Eyes on The Solar System, and you'll get an idea of just how many things there are in one solar system alone. -
Yes! This is it.

Rival Space Program(s)
Tw1 replied to plainawesome's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Agreed, (This is one of my complaints about the way science currently works.). I would not be a fan of a rival, or any other space programs in the game, I like the idea of KSC being something for all kerbals of the planet, not just one nation or group. But, separate, collaborative/rival programs could be interesting mods, or, dare I say it.... expansions. -
Use Earth time by default
Tw1 replied to Mitchz95's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I prefer using Earth time, as I can relate to it. Six hour days are so short, I can't imagine getting much done in so little time. -
Full Throttle Hotkey
Tw1 replied to The Jedi Master's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Agreed. What button? I nominate Z, like in the mod, it makes sence. -
For a while, I've been considering altering an LLL part, but it's hard to say if it would be balanced. Surely getting to use the goo things again is something that needs to be a challenge for the game mechanism to be interesting. Aside from roleplay, I'm not sure why you'd need the lab when Kerbin is just a burn away. But, with your kerbin system missions, why not leave the labs in orbit, and take the data to be proceeded after landing? It would be simpler to design.

This is not necessarily a point against democracy, this is more about the continuum between capitalism and socialism. It is an interesting point for me though, due to current issues in my state. What is an issue with representative democracy though, (the most common form), is that it basically boils down to a popularity test. Under such a system, it's not good, fair, or well reasoned ideas that matter, but how, and how much they motivate the population. By spreading misinformation, a democratic government can easily get away with actions, that negatively affect an amount of people for a slight benefit to itself. Actions that if people knew all the facts, would not seem sensible. However, as long as not enough people care, it's not going to hurt their vote significantly.

The guy wrote very regularly for months and months, and planned for years. Brains need to rest after doing things like that.

In my interpretation, kerbals probably have little to no military. The space program was founded b--- Spoilers.... The main governing body of the planet is something which is a mix of the United Nations and a federal government, which manages issues like the environment, trade, as well as supporting and regulating things like the space program. Individual nations have governments of their own, which have less influence, but are still notable.

[Updated September 27th] A Planet Divided: The Story of the Kold War
Tw1 replied to NQMT's topic in KSP Fan Works
Somehow, "CKFN" keeps getting mixed up in my head as "CERN". You know what they say about only needing the first and last letter. -
Is it appropriate for adult adult watching cartoons
Tw1 replied to Pawelk198604's topic in The Lounge
From one proud adult (kidless) watcher of kids shows, especially good cartoons and the best of the 90s, there is nothing wrong if you watch cartoons. (you might want to edit your thread title, "to" should be "for" because of reasons. Use the Go Advanced button after clicking Edit post.) -
Parachuting problems.
Tw1 replied to Maelstrom Vortex's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
While it may be impractical for sceine drop pods, it works well for kerbal deployment -
You call that an exploit? This is an exploit... (↓simulation only↓) Sooon... If you ask me, I find it a good thing kerbals are a little OP. I hope someday we get both improvements to unmanned science- like sampling drills, and some simple life support that's required for kerbals. The OP-ness of the kerbal will hopefully counter out added difficulty added by life support, and make them at least a match for the unmanned probe. The fact that kerbals do a lot of other things ships can't. They tend to bounce better than most rovers... Though I would not be opposed to it, if EVA propellant was made finite. As long as it wasn't to hard to bring plenty for antics.

Painting the map!
Tw1 replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Not quite- If you watch as you zoom in and out, you can see parts of the visible mesh change. Perhaps the way they could interact with the science point system could be similar to the way ScanSat plugin does now- Data gets collected, then the science point dialogue box is triggered when you press a button called "Analyse data", or something like that. Rather than actively changing the mech visible in the map as you go, changes could only be applied after to transmit- this lets it interact with the science point thing- points are unlocked every 10% or so, and saves the computer from having to constantly update the map in real time. I'd like the cameras to work like windows- you can look through them, and f1 takes photos. Except you can press buttons to trigger views in other wavelengths. Cameras might be better working like the "paint it on" system, rather than taking individual snaps. They'll provide records of things like colour, heat signatures, etc. More complex things like glints, and polarization could be left to the flavour texts. -
Had Kerbin orbital velocity. Pressed hack gravity. It became a Kerbin escape trajectory. Exited to space center without realising this. Space station was lost to deep space- the escape pods wouldn't have had enough delta V to get home.

I agree, they are different things. The main fantasy element comes from the fact that they are an alien species, in a fictional solar system. Realism is an essential part of this game- it lets you experience some of the difficulties real life space programs have when attempting space exploration. A few more realistic elements would not hurt- but taking away the fantasy elements would. This would be cool. One problem with this game is the many of the planets are a little monochromatic. To me, the terrain scatter forms the chocolate chips.

I partially disagree, I love the strangeness, weirdness and beauty it has on the surface. But how it looks from orbit really needs a tidy up.

Most of it, but Rhyunix provided the tree, and the base layer for the rocket, and also is doing few things for the next part. Backheart612 is doing an image for the third part. Art does take time, and it wouldn't be fair to pressure people to hurry when they're doing this for free, hence the long time between updates. If anyone else is interested in helping tell this story, and has reasonable drawing abilities, they would be more than welcome.
