  1. Agreed. This is why I'm hoping they never become part of the game. 21 year old uni student/geek/IDK here.
  2. It's alright. At the moment though, there isn't much to make it stand out. Perhaps set up some drama in the next few parts? Also, you might want to make a few more edits- some of your sentences and words could do with a second look. For example: A sentence like this would be fine in dialogue, where characters don't always speak clearly, but not as a regular paragraph. There's a lot going on in the one sentence here, and it jumps from establishing time and then setting, to establishing what's going on without a conjunction. Try: Use "had" when things happened before other things. This is called past perfect tense. For example, the decision to mess with the missile came before they actually did it, so: Use "Which" rather than "that" as the info about how the hanger belongs to the PDAD is extra, and non-critical to the sentence's meaning. It could be broken up, and rephrased to remove extra words bogging it down: TL,DR: writing is hard. Normally, if something doesn't sound right, it's worth double checking.
  3. A teaser for the next part. Didn't think I could find one without giving away too much detail, but then I realised: *Update: Actually will be the part after that. Also, anyone got a better idea for a title? The current one is a little "meh".
  4. I think the observatory like building is not in the best position for that. It's near the sea, leaving the lense vulnerable to seaspray. It's not far above sea level, so has the whole atmosphere to see through, it's close to all the light pollution from KSC, and the dust and vibrations from launches.... A better place would be in the mountains, or even on Airstrip Island. However, from a this-is-where-to-click point of view, having it part of KSC makes sense.
  5. Yes. Kerbals are often a bit slow to come to conclusions, or accept new info. Or perhaps, they were.
  6. Very nice! I look forward to seeing the finished one.
  7. Part one: Seed of an idea This is a story about what might have happened before the founding of the KSC. I hope you will enjoy it. We start a long time a go, with some kerbal youths, playing in a park near Kerbin City: Jebediah Kerman: "This is going to be awesome!" Bob: "Guys, I'm really not sure this is safe. I'm really not sure we should be doing this." Bill: "I still say we should stick on my gyroscope. These fins, too, for better stability." Jeb: "That's just gonna weigh it down! Come on, let's just do this! Who's got the matches? Harv?" Harvester Kerman: "Over here!" Meanwhile, a short distance away: Wernher: "Did you hear? Some astronomers are saying the Mun is a moon, like those dots that move around the wandering stars." Gene: "The Mun? Oh, that new sky circle thing you were telling me about. Sure." Wernher: "Some think that there is a whole world up there, and the stars big objects, separated from us by vast amounts of empty space. That could be it. The Mun could be a big ball. It looks like it is a ball." Gene: "Yeah, right. I don't believe it. The stars, the clouds, they're all intangible, and changeable.. they might as well be pictures on a screen. " Wernher: "Well, I am going to prove that there is something up there! " Gene: "And how do you plan to do that? By jumping?" At this point, they were interrupted: Wernher: "I have an idea..." Wernher got up, and followed the rocket. * * * * * Next time: "A meeting of minds."
  8. Poor Nedfurt. Poor all of them really. Doesn't sound like Kerbin is doing particularly well. Much sequel hooks. Part of me is slightly disappointed you didn't photoshop the white house green. Anyway, a good conclusion to a great story. There's only one way to mark the ending of something like this. Let us all stand for the 21 engine salute: *Salutes*
  9. Good luck. I like " Edward Snowkerb". A tip: you can select the asteroid as a target while still on the pad. This lets you to two things- 1: Warp until KSP is right under the asteroid's orbital path. 2: Use the target markers to launch straight into an orbit that's roughly in the asteroid's plane. (Check which way the 'roid's going first.) 3(I lied): Feel like a pro at rocketing.
  10. I too know the troubles of the scanner. Perhaps it wasn't properly pushed down? I quite like the lumpiness of Minmus here. Sometimes, people make it too rocky looking, so it's nice to see one that goes the other way.
  11. This is the uhh, lateral missile. For all your ground to ground missile blowing stuff up needs. Definitely not a runaway srb. TBH, the only intentionally military thing I remember making is the Dash-wing starfighter. Even then, it was more of a starwars idea, but it is still the pinnacle of the my astro-force's technology. Except for one little secret... Tip: watch 'till the end. Stealth Rover
  12. So, if my calculations are correct... > 12 hours. Probably Monday ()... Rebooting to fill the gap? Interesting. I also have a new project coming very soon. Again, probably monday.
  13. Check out a mod called Kerbal Attachment System. Not the same, but you can use the cables for some similar things.
  14. Today, I was reading about the Sun, and realised I had not properly been there in KSP. It was time to put this right. Here are our heros, Jorbles and Doly, standing on their rocket as part of the interplanetary launch ceremony. Bill was here also, though he's only going as far as LKO. He needed a lift. (He's just inspecting here.) The flight went well, dispite some fuel line errors. I made it into orbit with a lot of spare fuel in the last lifter stage. Bill is the orange dot below the flame. Burning. Burning And we're on our way to the Sun! Who knows when they'll return! I like this space vessel. It's a neat little(ish) thing.
  15. Trees mod, courtesy of chickenplucker! The CFG probably needs to be rapped in [part] tags.
  16. Not bad. How are you making these?
  17. Pfft. You're all living in the past! Alright then. Twelve mainsails on "Saturday". And nine RT-10s for good measure.
  18. Am I allowed to bet Not Saturday and have it judged with respect to my timezone? Please don't check my timezone, please don't check my timezone...
  19. Pointy trees = aerodynamic.Yes. Landing! Best flag. Sonsel: "Enemy drone on the radar! Changing course, they're going to ram us!" Dudcal: "How are they not fooled by our brilliant disguise?" Sonsel: "We have only one option here. We must use lethal force." Fzzzch! Dudcal: "Target destroyed." Sonsel: "Now, we must hide in this crater until we can be sure it is safe." Dudcal: "Oh no!" Is this the End for Stealth Rover!?!
  20. Dodgy-est accent ever. Sort of. The first part was ok, once I stopped the engines falling of. Ended up with an apoapsis of about 400km, as I didn't have much ability to turn the rocket. It kept rolling. Then, I had a decoupler failure. The accent stage would not drop. I had to use alternate methods. Once the boosters were clear, I repeated the exercise with the developers themselves, and activated the engines. But it's now on its way to the Mun.
  21. Nice! He was a skater bot, she said "see you later bot"...♫♪ Where is that spot on Kerbin BTW? And those wheels, I'm curious, where are they from?
  22. You need a sacrifice. Got a spare kerbal? Also, magnets. (Docking ports?) Have you got a power module capable of generating a few hundred units per second? Give it a zap as you chant. Struts and girders should make sufficient electrodes, but don't let them interrupt the pentagon, go over the circle. You want to be careful with the amount of current, too much, and instead of life you get barbeque.
  23. I know how you feel, but... but.. you monster!
