I get the "no procedural parts" bit, but why can't Squad just weld the fairings together on launch so they separate in two pieces? -
I think that's the new EVE ground shaders, not scatterer mod. Scatterer mod adds aerial perspective, which makes mountain tops more visible as they are above the thickest atmosphere, while EVE just has a sort of general haze.

[Brainstorming] Part Test Contracts Replacement

It might be interesting to give a higher payout if you actually recover the tested parts - e.g. if you have a contract to test a radial decoupler, you'd get a better paycheck if you recovered it on parachutes than just let it hit the ground (better than just the funds gained from recovery of parts, that is). -

Hmm...paper is pretty lightweight, much more so than 3d-printed stuff. So, we could actually put solid rocket motors in these, and launch them! -

Actually, it already integrates with KerbinSide. That information is already in the first post, but maybe I need to make it more visible.

Good point. I'll add a check that you're on the ground for at least 5 seconds before revoking takeoff clearance.
