  1. Actually, I haven't installed your planet pack at the moment. I'm sorry if my post in your thread lead you to think I had. Those were only my thoughts about the pack at first glance. I'm actually incredibly picky about mods that add planets, and I haven't been impressed by ANY pack I've seen so far, so don't take it personally. Anyway, I've been lazy about updating this lately. I've gotten all of my mods updated to the newest versions now, and I have a very cool mission completed, so a new update should be out whenever I can write it up. I also want to replace the "astronaut stats" on the first page with bios for the most significant astronauts.
  2. I like the fact that this is a relatively small pack, and doesn't have a Laythe clone
  3. Has anyone ever seen those Shovel props before? Also, I feel like this would make a great starting point for a KSP creepypasta...
  4. I think that, rather than bootstrapping their own space program, they should do lots of business with existing private aerospace companies. Space-X, Bigelow, and others like them would be able to grow immensely if they had a big client like the UAE.
  5. reputation, funds, and science should all be shown at the top of the space center screen... are you sure you have version .24?
  6. SSTO's with this mod are always fun, and this time I made an especially tiny one for some reason, and I figured that I'd show it off. I find it really neat that the shadow it casts is almost a perfect triangle. The official name is The Arrowhead, but Jebediah has taken to calling it The Dorito.
  7. NEAR takes a plane's shape into account when determining drag, and that one you built out of stock parts is much less aerodynamically built than the SP+ one, keeping in from reaching those high speeds.
  8. Why can't we just take the Kraken, and push it somewhere else?
  9. I definitely agree with you about the use of permanent stations and bases now. Whenever a contract comes in for science on a certain location, you don't need to launch a mission if you already have something there
  10. I think that a small degree of self-awareness might be quite common among the most intelligent and social animal species. Apes, dolphins, and probably even dogs are likely aware of themselves in both the physical and social sense, and are capable of understanding concepts such as "This Human likes me" or "This Human is upset at me". However, self-awareness is only the most basic part of true sentience, I think. These creatures don't do things that Humans can do like contemplate hypotheticals, plan for the future, or question the nature of their world; and this is because their brains aren't built for the kind of multi-tiered, high-level thought processes that those kinds of things take. I think that humans might be the only life to have crossed over a certain critical threshold. Larger and more complex brains obviously contribute to higher intelligence, but once a brain reaches a certain point where it is capable of handling those truly complex thought processes, it causes an exponential jump in the being's apparent intelligence, without requiring an exponential increase in brain size. ...then again, this could all just be my own crazy babble...
  11. How do you get the prerelease .dll?
  12. Even if the community could get close to getting this to work, we'd still need some sort of mission control
  13. KSP is telling me that Precisenode is incompatible with the latest version. I haven't yet confirmed whether it is actually broken or non-functional in-game, but I thought I should let you know.
  14. Sure you can never run out of money, but if you do badly enough, the game will still punish you because you'll only have a small amount of funds to work with, resulting in much smaller missions than if you were being successful.
  15. I agree that there should be improved aerodynamics, but not to the extent that FAR goes to. FAR makes rockets much easier than stock, and the majority of players use rockets rather than planes. It also makes planes harder to fly, making them less accessible to less-experience players.
  16. I think the main thing is that the presence of oxygen in the atmosphere suggests that it has some sort of photosynthetic life in its oceans. As far as we know, there aren't many (if any) natural, non-biological processes that can produce atmospheric oxygen in large quantities. Oxygen is highly reactive and usually bonds with other things to produce solid minerals. In fact, if all life on earth were to disappear, all the oxygen in the atmosphere would eventually be depleted by natural chemical reactions. It is also possible that Laythe has no life on it and was actually terraformed in the recent past by aliens, but something happened to them and they never inhabited it.
  17. I don't like to kill off Kerbals in order to get more applicants, so I generally ship off the ones with uninteresting names in large numbers to man Mun bases or space stations, while I use my favorites for the interplanetary missions.
  18. I have an Elley Kerman and a Seerie Kerman. I have the texture replacer mod so I can give them female faces
  19. I just... I don't know what to do... I don't think I should trust him
  20. I actually have to wonder if Laythe might not be as habitable as it looks. Its oceans should be frozen, unless they're full of ludicrous amounts of salt and/or ammonia. Anyway, my favorite moon of Jool might actually be Vall, which is weird, because I've never landed there before. At least not yet.
  21. If you mean two objects orbiting around their common center of mass, then no. I've already been told that you can't simulate that with the Patched Conics Approximation that KSP uses
  22. Perhaps a main cannon for a tank or an artillery cannon. Something with BIG shells Then again, a lot of people want a railgun
  23. I have an idea for a cool feature for this mod (which you are completely free to ignore) Any kind of Rasterprop Monitor integration would be awesome. You could use the monitors to lock onto targets, display your current target, aim or otherwise control the turrets, or even display ammunition supply. This kind of RPM support would make this mod just that much more amazing. Its up to you though, and I don't want to distract you from your primary goals for this mod.
