Been playing with it for over an hour now.. MASSIVE improvement over MJ. Thanks a million, man. Great work you're doing!

Allista, did you write an entirely new navigation system, or is this just mechjeb's code being enhanced? because I gotta say.. while I like mechjeb and wouldn't knock the use I get out of it..., these videos of TCA's maneuver capabilities are making Mechjeb look like hammered S**t.

That's generally cause by a driver error. Make sure your completely updated. If you are, then it could be a few other things. As it means the driver cant communicate with the hardware.. including heat effecting the hardware, or a failing PSU rail. Maybe give the fans a dusting, and see if that helps. Does it still do it if you aren't running a game? If it's not driver related, I would assume it's heat or power. As both Rise as you add more graphic enhancements to the mix, and would cause you to crash more often as you added more.

[1.12.x] Konstruction! Weldable ports, servos, cranes, and magnets!
Talavar replied to RoverDude's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I swear man.. You have a habit of making my other mods obsolete..... and in an amazing way.. Quick question, my man.. Will this allow a U attachment without problems? As in two welding ports attached to the same piece sticking to the ship in a U shape, or can we expect any anomlies if trying to weld two ports in such a fashion? (other than the obvious tension on the main structure when one side is shortened by the weld, and the other isnt welded yet)- 1,473 replies

Waiting for official working mod update thread..
Talavar replied to Talavar's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Well, until that good soul comes along, There's this. I'd do it myself, but unfortunately, there is no way for me to constantly watch it, as my day-job is pretty time demanding -
Until then I suppose you could post here on what we find works currently. However, be forewarned that I won't be babysitting the thread. I will, however, transfer findings after an official page is opened.

It also has some bug fixes. I don't think they'll charge for a bugfix update. That would be a bit shady.. However, anything after 1.2 should be fair game.. although, DLC would have a rough time keeping up with the modding community. Other than orbiter, I've never seen a modding community as active as this one. I'm pretty sure, they'll let go of the reigns and hand it over to the modding community. Honestly, it would be rough even selling planet packs with the planetary mods available, though I'm sure that some people would buy them just to support Squad.

Someone else would just make a new one. DLC doesn't really make sense for ksp.. too many mods to keep you busy regardless.

A theory of why space is expanding faster.
Talavar replied to Talavar's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Both of these would be happening simultaneously at different rates , where actual movement/shift would depend on a stars centrifugal point in it's galaxy (coming towards our viewpoint, or moving away) haha! Middle of the day here. Take a long nap, we can talk more on it later. Would that not fit in with the stretching of space in this case? with space expanding, and the energy density dropping because of it, the redshift would then be a given in that situation, no? I'll leave this here for you for tomorrow. -
A theory of why space is expanding faster.
Talavar replied to Talavar's topic in Science & Spaceflight
You have to keep in mind, that even though space itself is moving in this hypothetical, and things move along with it, it doesn't mean that things aren't moving relative to space as well, hence you could still have the red-shift in the light spectrum. I guess I should have thought to add that in. SInce all matter/energy would be ejected along with space I would assume that the energy itself would move faster than the actual space itself. I dunno, there's a lot of different variables and a lot of "what if's". Like I said.. all speculation. -

A theory of why space is expanding faster.
Talavar replied to Talavar's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Imagine the northern horn as a white hole, and the southern horn as a black hole. I guess that would help with some sort of mathematical origins to it, even though we can't really prove they (white-holes) exist, and are currently a sort of glorified possibility at best. It's all, of-course, speculation. But it's fun to toss things around. .. If I'm correct, hawking proposed that inside a blackhole, elements are broken down to their fundamentals. This could explain the beginning of the expansion being made purely of those fundamental particles. -

Well, I cant really visualize 4 dimensions.. only a 3 dimensional rendition of it, even still, it's hard to explain. lol.. btw, I edited my last comment and added to it. -

No, it would actually speed up, since there is more linear distance to cover the farther it moves outwards. Only when you get close to the center point on the outside of the torus would you see it slow down, as it would then start a reversal, and you'd see the process happen in reverse (sort of).. This could be the only way that the expansion could speed up, then slow down again.. At-least as far as I can see, anyway. The mechanism/force controlling the expansion/contraction would have to work in some form of greater dimensional toroidal magnetic force.. sort of how our magnetosphere works. Perhaps on a greater dimension, Gravity has a north and south. I know it sounds strange, but when compared to some stuff in quantum mechanics and string theory, it really doesn't seem too bizarre I suppose. The movement that we see would function correctly on the 3d surface, stretched over the 4d brane that is configured into a 4d toroidal loop. (I really have no other way to explain this honestly), I can sort of visualize it, but when dealing with 4D objects.... well I'm sure you already understand the complexity of conveying what is meant when thinking in a 4th dimensional setting. It's really frustrating trying to put it into words when there really are none. lol.. as for the rest, I have always believed we can see the expansion of space, simply by the distance between objects being accelerated. It makes absolutely no sense otherwise (at-least to me), but that is simply my perception of how things are working. As we all know, nothing is ever learned unless we go against the grain constantly with new ways to view things. I like to think about things like this while I'm falling asleep at night. Maybe someday, one of us on a forum like this will come up with something not yet explained and simplifyit :). -
Occam's razor: It will simply take all equal available paths simultaneously. "Any time you encounter an electrical flow question, First think of the flow of water in a similar downhill simulation. If that fails, then apply mathematics" ~Mr Batronis, my highschool electrical tech teacher~

Imagine space is on a 4-5 dimensional torus. What you are seeing is an expansion on one side, and a contraction on the other. If, in-fact space was on such a multidimensional plane, Gravity could hypothetically cause an acceleration towards the contraction on the other side.. Or, In an assumption that we have only left the northern horn recently (13-14 billion years), and the trip around the torus may take 100's of billions of years, things would appear to accelerate as they expand outwards. Thoughts??

Is it true that most KSP players never go interplanetary?
Talavar replied to KerikBalm's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This one is a bit harder, as the inner planets can have multiple orbits before you actually reach them (depending on what planet you start from). You'll have to play with the nodes to get back home. after you find a position that works, take note for future ventures. Mech-jeb is a wonderful learning tool for this (when it's functioning with the current release) as you can set up a return, then look at the planets positions before leaving. You'll start to get a second nature instinct about it eventually. -
Is it true that most KSP players never go interplanetary?
Talavar replied to KerikBalm's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Granted. however, it's a basic rough simplification, meant to help get you started, and it's easy to remember. It's how I first learned in orbiter. Your depictions verify it. As they start slightly after (15 minute-ish) sunset, and sunrise. It's simply to get you going and let you learn without holding your hand completely. -

Talavar replied to KerikBalm's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I think the main problem is when/how/direction of launch.. This small pic can help (a little) THis isn't always EXACTLY the case, but it's a pretty good simplification. The basic rule of thumb for launch is: Going to outer planets, you launch when the sun is setting Going to inner planets, you want to launch when the sun is rising. -
DMP handles the time issues very well actually. The only problems I had with DMP was docking with another player. If that issue itself is repaired, Then DMP would be good enough. However, I'm sure squad will do a much better job over-all as it's their baby, if/when multiplayer is implemented.

I said " I remember a long time ago, after DMP was released, the devs had said, that after seeing it being implemented, they were dedicated to making the game multiplayer.. " And you said I mis-remembered. I don't know where you got the rest of that stuff.. I said nothing about "when" simply wondered"if it's still a plan"

No, I don't. It was in the daily notes on the KSP forums.
