What was the final result for the formula for stacking antennas? I know the initial was the square root of the product of the sum of the ranges. I know that a modifier was added but I can't remember where it was placed and what the value was.

[0.23.5] KerbCam v0.13 (camera pathing tool for videos)
steuben replied to huin's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
it looks like it doesn't work in 1.2. But it could be me. Looking in the logs I found a series of: [ERR 07:30:39.636] System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'RenderingManager' from assembly 'KerbCam'. Any suggestions? I am game to wait patiently for an update. -
I think it was explained somewhere in the 1.2 pre threads what rigidAttachment does. But, my serach-fu is weak and things may have chaned in the production model. So what does rigidattachment do?

The v1.2 Hype Train Thread - Prerelease is Out
steuben replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Discussion
They're not some Republic villain. Do you seriously think they'd launch their master-stroke if there remained the slightest chance of us affecting its outcome? They did it thirty-five minutes ago. K.Z. Mandias- 1,592 replies

The v1.2 Hype Train Thread - Prerelease is Out
steuben replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Discussion
a non-event is still an event. it is just an event where nothing happens. therefore it is an event. since it has no physical existence it can be of arbitrary size. therefore it is big for all values of big. so regardless of the occurrence of an event or non-event a big event will happen upon launch. ergo yay \o/. Mexico City is utc-6 so the work day has pretty much started.- 1,592 replies

Changing upper (pod) section of built vessel?
steuben replied to strider3's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
you will need to reroot the ship to the top of the launcher, usually the decoupler, or the docking port depending on your design. -
crashing on load craft file
steuben replied to steuben's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
covered at the top. any all variations of mods and modless. no mod parts. error output_log -
Setup: Running pure stock 1.1.3.1289, and with in variation FShangarExtender, KerbalEngineer,Hyperedit, KVV, RCSBuildAid, UbioWelding Win 7 x86, 4 gb ram. Upgrading is not an option within the next 2 years. Trying both with -force-opengl and without. When I try to load one of my craft files in the SPH it crashes out. I've tried with mods, without, with forcegl and without. Any suggestions. I want to avoid rebuilding the craft... but may have to.

Three questions that everybody is kind of failing to ask. They are a little bit personal, but really need to be asked in the context of this and similar discussions. 1. Do I want to know? 2. Do I care to knowing? 3. Do I need to know? My answers: 1. kind of 2. not really 3. no Far too many people conflate 1 and 3. If I needed to know, at this point I would know. Very few people here need to know. And in this case, an additional point for consideration. If the Kraken and his Italian cousin the Flying Spaghetti Monster were to come over and leave with Mexico, would it affect the game as it currently stands? No. Sure many people will quote John Greenleaf Whittier. It would be disappointing that many bugs and game play issues would not get fixed. But KSP would still exist. I would still be able to play it. I would still get many more years of enjoyment out of it. It is time to dial back the zoom on the optics. It will help put this mole hill in perspective. In my library I have games whose publishers have long since ceased to exist. Ceased to exist before some of you were even born... a fact I find mildly disturbing. Publishers come and go. Dev teams come and go. But the games, they last forever. They may fade for a while as the hardware disappears, but they will eventually come back. This is not a sign of the end times. This is not a sign of the times. It is not even a sign.

How to assure your satellite remains perfectly Keosynchronous...
steuben replied to Sharpy's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Seriously? This! Is! KSP! Though the real trick is doing it without using launch clamps. Just one big tower of parts. -
No sure if it has been chucked out already PEBPLE (pronounced pebble) Problem Exists Between Pilot and Launch Equipment.
-
You may have to wait a bit. What I end up doing is getting the satellite's AP up to the right height, and my PE down around 80-70 km. Then I sit and wait for the sat to be at AP and the visibility location in line of sight. Then I just burn to raise the PE. That's the simple way. The NASA way is to launch to parking orbit. Wait to raise your AP until it will be over the location. Then burn to circularize when it gets up there. But that requires either some heavy planning and/or orbit tools, or quicksave/reverts.
-
Got a kerbal to eeloo surface and back up to orbit with only level 5 tech. He's camping waiting for the tankers to arrive with the fuel for the return trip.

Side view parts images?

Seconding for Kronal Vessel Viewer. KKV works in 1.1.3. not sure about 1.2. -
All we know is that there's still no contact with the tracker and that a kraken may be involved. Can we replicate or clarify substandard reports, or do they have to be whole new ones?

1.2 is available, should I upgrade?
steuben replied to Magzimum's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Once 1.2 goes gold I'm going to say yes. But, while it's still plastic wait and enjoy the show. -
At this point not very... best wait until full release before making plans

The v1.2 Hype Train Thread - Prerelease is Out
steuben replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Discussion
As much as i like the hype train, i'm staying away from the PR- section. I don't want to have to deal with the associated issues. and they don't have the snacks that I like- 1,592 replies

It's tricky with the 45s. I managed to cobble something together. It does about 100 mps, takes 8 junos to vertical off the runway, fly forward on 3. It has wings so it will fly which means I don't burn fuel the same way getting places.
-
kexpedia.com usually has the cheapest flights. That 8k job, was it kerbaled or just a probe?
-
better stock control. though this may have changed in the most recent versions, may change in 1.2. I haven't played with any fancy rover designs in the last few versions.
