Singularity Research Initiative - dev thread
GoldForest replied to Daemoria's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
The last rocket in the your last post in the first page, seems like it may not, or just barely fit in the VAB, but don't let my opinion stop you from making it! It looks like my Nova Rockets are going to have a little competition in the large rocket department lol. A question. The grey part on the large rocket, is it an SRB that would be placed in a group of eight around the engine/fuel tank, or is the grey part the actual engine? Because it looks like it goes inside the main body, so it would be hard to eject it if it does go inside the main body, so I'm left with either it's a non-detachable SRB, extra engines for the main stage, or the main engines and the red part is only a fuel tank. Could you clear my thinking up with what it's ACUTALLY going to be? -
I thought about making them all separate srbs and just have a plate they attach to, but then it would look silly if someone only attached one of them to a rocket, since the nozzles are angled, so I went with a clustered single model. The General Dynamics link has a clustered srb Nova. And the NASA Nova designs have a lot of SRB clusters lol And holy crap! I just noticed that the first proposed rocket by General Dynamics has 16 F-1s! 16! That's a lot to squeeze in! I think I might have to take a close look at FASA's Saturn I engine cluster to get an idea for that! lol Also, a question. The Nova 34 says it has two stages, but I can only see one. So, would you rather have an SSTO 34 like I originally planned, or would you like a two stage? I'm guessing the second stage is inside the shrouding of the upper part. And thanks! It would be good to have work for Khaos when he gets back! lol

Well, I have found a picture of a shuttle that might be interesting to work on. The pic shows that the whole rocket is actually a shuttle that flies itself home. The boosters have deployable wings, and the main launcher has fixed wings. I think it would make a good addition to this mod. It's just some concept rendition, but still, it's a shuttle. http://www.starbase118.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/space0503vehicles_A1_293.jpg I'll work on some things and see if I can't come up with a good few models. Though, I don't think I'll be able to do the wings without flaw... And my texturing skills are nil. Edit: Hmmm. That top part is kind of weird. I think the main launcher will have to be 5 meters, to get the right look. The top part with the rcs, I was thinking 1.25 for the top, and 3.75 for the part that sizes out to meet the main body, but now I'm thinking 2.5 to 5m... Some input would be nice. Edit 2: I can't get the bottom to conform like a shuttle's bottom... How did you do it for your shuttle Tiberion?

[0.90] Kerbin Shuttle Orbiter System v4.13
GoldForest replied to helldiver's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
lol, Whenever Jeb dies on a sandbox mode play through, and I accidently don't go back to launch or VAB/SPH, I just go edit the persistent file and get him back. I mean! I send a medical crew to his last know location, retrieve his body and revive him! -

My texture skins are... well... I have none... Also, an unmanned shuttle's crew cabin can be replaced with an extra fuel tank, or electrical supply, mono too. AND!!! The thing every one loves about unmanned craft, no risk of losing Jebidiah!... okay, and the others... -

[0.90] Kerbin Shuttle Orbiter System v4.13

Hey Helldiver. Any plans to make an unmanned KSO like the proposed Shuttle-C? http://andegraf.com/rockets/us_never.htm I know the avionics pack gives you unmanned control over the shuttle, but it would be neat to have a unmanned version seen in the link. -
That was actually a proposed plan by NASA lol. http://andegraf.com/rockets/us_never.htm

I've thought about doing this. I actually thought about making the tank and just using the Mainsails, but that would mean the first stage would need to be 10.5 meters to fit all the mainsails. At 10.5 meters the whole rocket wouldn't fit in the VAB. The 1.25 engines are too small to create the thrust. I will give this more thought. For now, the rocket with be premade stages. And grid fins?

That would be fine too. Denny has done great with LEM.
-
I know you are joking, but I have a serious response to this. Denny has already made plans to make a Skylab. Whether Frizz will do one or not is all up to him. If he decides not to, I'm sure he'll make fairings and a decoupler to house it. If he does decide to make a Skylab, then woohoo!

Multiple mu files in a single folder
GoldForest replied to CaptainKipard's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I'm not saying put files with the same names in one folder, I'm saying make all the model.mu's have all unique names. -
Multiple mu files in a single folder
GoldForest replied to CaptainKipard's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
If your going to put all the .mu files in one folder, make sure they all have different names and not just all of them "model.mu." This will cause internal conflicts, since the config files don't know which model.mu file to call upon. So it would be good to have them custom named. EX: J2 engine.mu SRB9Segment.mu Mainsail.mu -
If you want a Nova, my mod is based on it. Though, I haven't gotten anything but a beta Stage one done. My unity person is in the process of moving and so he does not have internet.

That was the idea I had, but I want the stands that NASA uses for there rockets. I don't want to make a jerry rigged stand that would look ugly.
