Well because I haven't built a massive SSTO in stock sized KSP in forever. My replacement for the SP-406. The SP-409A 108tons to 100km x 100km orbit with 2km/s delta/V left over. A crew escape and recovery system. And soon, I plan on making it STOVL capable.

Should the aerospike be unnerfed a little?
Hodo replied to CaptRobau's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
The only place I use aerospikes that often now is in my RO+RSS install. Where the aerospike has its real life counter part is closely matched in game. I find it difficult to use but I have been toying with a SSTO linear aerospike powered space plane for a while, just can't pack enough fuel into it. I have it so it can get to space 200km altitude, but is around 800m/s shy of the orbital speeds needed for Earth. -
What Has the Forum Population Accomplished: Manned Return Missions
Hodo replied to theend3r's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I said Duna for me. But I have been to Eve and back, didn't land a Kerbal there because I run FAR+DRE, but I did land a probe using Remote Tech 2 and a 7+ minute signal delay. Which was the hardest mission I have completed. Landing on Ike in orbit of Duna wasn't that bad. -
[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
Hodo replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Ok several questions in response. 1- Do you have a lot of reaction wheels on the craft? 2- Do you have your control surfaces set to specific tasks? 3- Do you have a lot of flex in the aircraft, does it wiggle like a worm through the air? 4- Is your empty fuel tank CoM behind your loaded CoM? If you answered yes to 1, then remove some of the reaction wheels. if you answered yes to two, set your control surfaces to some assigned tasks, like Roll, Pitch, and Yaw, but not all three. If you answered yes to 3, then you should strut the body more, and/or download Kerbal Joint Reinforcement. If you answered yes to 4 or I don't know, then I suggest getting RCS build aide and TAC fuel balancer, or PWB Fuel pumps. And pictures would be helpful.- 14,073 replies

The Black Market (Military Craft for Kerbal War Game)
Hodo replied to horndgmium's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
LOL that tells me you are not using struts where you need them, and you are using to much control. In otherwords you are ham handing the controls instead of using finesse. Look at this monster, it is over 300 tons on take off, and doesn't suffere aerodynamic failures. Note, not for sale.... it is an in house cargo craft. -
Not sure where you are trying to link but I think you messed it up.

Just search for the Planet Factory plugin, down load and install, then install the Planet Factory cfg file in the OP of this thread.

They are from the planet factory plugin.

[0.25] Realism Overhaul w/ RedAV8R [Terminated]
Hodo replied to RedAV8R's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Those would be the planet factory planets. I used to have them working a few versions ago then I had a hard crash in KSP and had to reinstall everything. I haven't got it to work since. -
Help with current rocket problems
Hodo replied to DucharmeHD's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
This is the best answer. You will need KJR to make larger rockets actually work. And your TWR is to high on launch. Most of the best launches I have had have been with a TWR around 1.2-1.4 on launch. Much higher then that and it will push through the rocket. -
In a file on my desktop. I have two installs of KSP, and a backup. One install on the desktop, KSP-RO. The other is KSP-nonRO which is in its Steam folder, and the third is KSP stock, backup which is zipped in a backup file I keep of all my games.

I loved that challenge. It was one of my top 5 favorites. I love SSTOs, I think they are surprisingly easy in the stock sized Kerbin but they are still fun. As far as cost vs practical, this is KSP, practical smachtical.
-
Looks like your running an old version of FAR. Good looking craft though.

That is the problem. There IS no complete log. This is the only other log I have managed to get. And it is only 5.7kb. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ipv7d9xzg35ytsf/output_log.txt Fixed it. Had to do some rewriting of the pathing for KSP but managed to hammer out something.

So this is the error I am getting, I am thinking it is looking for the file in the wrong place. I have reinstalled EVERYTHING, and RSS 6.2 4 times now. This is on my second install of KSP which is not located in my Steam folder. [Exception]: IsolatedStorageException: Could not find a part of the path "C:\Windows\system32\GameData\RealSolarSystem\Plugins\PluginData\EarthHeight.png".

Hodo replied to RedAV8R's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Will try for the 4th time... never know. Maybe a corrupt file on download. -
[0.25] Realism Overhaul w/ RedAV8R [Terminated]
Hodo replied to RedAV8R's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Getting this error at the end of my boot up for KSP RO + RSS. Unable to find EarthHeight.png...... And so it reverts to the stock sized Kerbin system. -
So reinstalled and same problem. Done fking with it right now will mess with it when my girlfriend stops nagging at me, which will be never at this rate.

[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
Hodo replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
After looking at your craft I haft to suggest moving your CoL, closer to your CoM, right now you will suffer from a very heavy nose, or a pitch down situation. Perhaps extending the wing roots a bit more forward and the use of canards near the front of the craft. On a side note suggestion I cannot stress enough how useful Procedural Wings are and HIGHLY suggest anyone using FAR use P-Wings.- 14,073 replies

[0.23.5] Realism Overhaul: ROv5.2 + Modlist for RSS 6/30/14
Hodo replied to NathanKell's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Nope, nothing else has changed. Downloaded the latest version of RO from the github page, installed it, and it did this. -
So I am guessing my RSS RO install has just been broke by the new RO patch. This is what I am getting. I have attempted to restore to previous versions and still getting this. First that is not the right scale. Second that isn't Earth. It was Earth a few days ago before I updated RO.

This is what I am getting, I have reinstalled RSS, and RO, I have even reverted them back to the previous versions. -
[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
Hodo replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
You don't need to go to flight school. You just need to understand the basics of aerodynamic flight. Hell if a bird can do it so can you. It isn't rocket science, no really it isn't. If it is shaped like a brick with wings, it will fly like a brick with wings. Case and point, the Space Shuttle. There are three simple rules to FAR. 1- Keep your CoL behind your CoM but not so far you cant lift your nose. 2- Keep it simple. Complex is bad. 3- Set your control surfaces. Don't do this and you will have the twitchiest worst controlled aircraft in history, right behind the F-104. EDIT- Look at this ONE aircraft. And the FAR readings in the flight data, most importantly the Q information. Notice the Q is over 40kpa. Which means I am experiencing pretty high airpressure over the wings. If I do something stupid like you can get away with in stock KSP, the wings will most likely fly off. Now in this picture it is a fair bit higher, realism overhaul real Earth scaling. I am cruising at about 33kft above the ground, at Mach 2.06. If you notice the dynamic pressure is almost 50% higher then the previous picture. That is because I am going a fair bit faster. Again, if I do something stupid the wings will snap off. Just like a real aircraft. This is why a REAL LIFE Boeing 777, can't pull out of a extremely steep dive, it will overspeed and tear its wings off.- 14,073 replies
