The "greats" have stood on the shoulders of giants, so to speak, and the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Why use the arospike
Dispatcher replied to Apature rocket science's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Notice that the spaceplane I mentioned is "rocket engines only"; it doesn't have any jet or rapier engines. It launches and lands using the runway. I had experimented with a variety of engines (and combinations) before settling on the aerospikes. -

Why use the arospike
Dispatcher replied to Apature rocket science's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
My "rocket engine only" spaceplane uses aerospikes. I have no complaints about them. -
The first thing you ought to do is determine what carrier (Verizon, AT&T, etc.) and service plan you want; based largely on you getting service at places that you frequent (home, work, school, etc.). Secondly, how often do you intend to use the phone? This ties in with battery life, etc. Sometimes these basic choices will help guide your purchase decision.

Perhaps we would perceive our own death in the same way in which we perceived our own self after conception. Notice that I didn't mention our own birth. We'll be restored to the same state of awareness we occupied prior to our ability to perceive existence in this life initially.

While its not my absolute favorite game of all time, its one of the better and more memorable ones I played back in the 90's. System Shock.

Pretty cool games. I'd never played these; these look fun.

A little OT, but I play KSP on my 6 year old computer (with a whopping 2 GB of RAM) with good results. I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite, and it seems to run well. My point is, I consider my hardware to be legacy, but it works well for me and I expect to be using it until I yield to the temptation of buying the 27" iMac with Retina display (which means that instead of being able to run 4K cinema, it will run 5K, in that sense). But for now I'll hang in there with my current investment.

Q: Have you ever achieved a stable orbit around Kerbin?(2 points) Yes. 2 points. Q: Have you ever landed and returned from the Mun?(4 points) Yes. 4 points. I think its easier to land and return from Minmus, so I recommend future polls adjusting the score here to 6 points. Q: Have you ever landed and returned from Minmus?(4 points) Yes. 4 points. Q: On how many objects outside the Kerbin system(which includes Kerbin, the Mun and Minmus) have you landed on(doesn't have to be a return mission)(2 points per object, or 24 if you've landed on all) Ike, Duna, Eve. So 6 points. Q: Have you ever successfully docked?(10 points) No. I have intercepted, but not achieved docking. Zero points. Q: Have you ever intercepted an asteroid?(16 points) No. Never even tried yet. Zero points. Optional question 1(if you use mods): How many of the following difficulty enhancing mods: TAC life support, Remote Tech, Deadly Reentry, FAR, RSS; have you used at the same time in a save?(4 points per mod) Zero. Optional question 2(if you don't use mods): Do you rarely(in less than half of your career saves) use reverts/reloads? If only your revertless/reloadless worlds were counted, would the amount of 'yes' answers to the above questions be roughly the same?(+0.25 points for every 'yes' answer to the above questions that would remain the same, not including optional question 1) I'm so tired I can hardly comprehend this question. Zero. Q: On which of the following objects outside the Kerbin system have you done successful return missions: Duna(2.5 points), Ike(2.5 points), Dres(5 points), Moho(5 points), Gilly(5 points), Laythe(10 points), Vall(10 points), Bop(10 points), Pol(10 points), Tylo(15 points), Eeloo(15 points), Eve(30 points) Ike, Duna. 5 points. So I arrive at a total of 21 points. Dividing this by 20 yields me 1.05 points. ------------------------------------ NOTE: I am planning on remaking this quiz, however using suggestions from the community this time around. If you think that there is something representative of skill, please suggest on this thread, and if it is considered good by me and the community, it will probably be included in the next version of the test. I think other things to consider adding to the poll when dealing with the concept of skill levels are: Have you ever completed Career Mode by unlocking the entire tech tree? What has been your best total budget vs. any one mission cost ratio (lower mission cost being better than a higher one)? How about your average ratio of these elements? Have you ever recovered all of your vessels & stages (except for solid propellant boosters) in a single mission? What is the longest aircraft only flight you have successfully flown? Have you ever built and flown a "self flying plane" which does not need any steering, throttling or other controlling, takes off from the runway and which has glided to bring a Kerbal safely down after running out of fuel? Have you ever built a rover? What is the furthest you've driven it? On which objects have you landed a rover? Have you ever built a rover/ boat. Etc. I'm sure there are others; these are what came to mind to me since I can answer "yes" to all of these questions. Quantizing the yes results into points would probably be a logistics challenge.

Why are flags flights in progress?
Dispatcher replied to MerlinsMaster's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
While flags as flights in progress is counterintuitive, accessing them is useful for You Tubers and still capturers in order to get their intended camera angle/ view. I'm guessing that the developers will eventually reclassify flags so that they are not considered as active flights. -
TeeGee, I think you hit on something. Everything we do is predicated on some kind of faith, or expectation. We expect to get up after a good rest, go to work or school or holiday or some activity. We expect to eat the next meal in a timely manner, etc. But we've absolutely no guarantees about anything beyond the current moment. But without those expectations, we would not have attained to anything as a society or as individuals.

Cpt. Kipard, getting back to your original post, you were asking about automating the process (I assume you mean something like batch processing). I believe PS has some capacity for that and I think that the Gimp does not. I don't know what OS you use, but is there a scripting application which you can use to ultimately control Gimp to yield batched or automated results? That's the only thing I can think of which might address your original question.

Wow. Please read the beginning post to this thread. I believe I responded to that, as have others, including you. As far as "outbursts" are concerned, thanks for defining what I've written as "outbursts". As far as I'm concerned, I'm "just talking", as you have suggested. Cheers. Edit: I've no ill will towards you, Cpt. Kipard. Clearly the written word is limited in dimension. I tried reading the same sentences using different voice inflections, etc. and the results run the gamut of meaning and intensity. What would be cool is an audio forum... wait ... maybe not. Take care!

The notion that you are trying to "teach" me or anyone here anything, rather than simply sharing your thoughts, implies that you may be less than willing to learn from others on this topic. Thanks.
-
Really? I'm not writing about the mechanics or physical phenomena associated with thought. I'm just expressing what happens in "my reality". Yours may vary.

Experience leads to expectations.

Where do you draw the line? You can choose to stay in the path of a flood or attempt to get out of its way. However, if you fall on planet Earth, you have no choice; you will fall until you land on or in something.
-
I mean that I can choose what to do without being required to do so by any entity (you, for example) or compelling circumstance. Otherwise we could not be responsible for our actions; rather, the compelling entity or circumstance (a flood, for example) would dictate our actions.

Although I first played KSP after buying the game (Steam sale), that was due to the recommendation of an acquaintance. If not for that recommendation, I'd never have tried it because I was not interested in a game with little green guys; the relative realism of the parts and gameplay is quite a contrast to that and I'm glad I followed the recommendation. For other people, I think that a hobbled version of the current game (v0.25 in this case) would be the best demo for KSP, since the current demo (which I've since seen in You Tube vids) is of a very outdated version and even though people like the demo as is, a new demo would yield even more purchases now, IMHO.

I like the idea of NPC/ ambient life forms and sounds being included with the game. It would be nice to have birdlike things in the air and fishlike things in and on the water, as long as its not too much for most computers to handle. So it would be best to make this optional via settings. Nice video BTW.

I agree that the best yield will be a combination of filtering (for speed) and manual work (to clean things up to look best). I always work with multiple layers, making sure that there is an original layer which I leave alone in case I mess things up. Besides filtering, I like to work with different image modes and levels of transparency, which often yields results which are unexpected, but desirable.
