  1. Landing on the Mun for the first time was pretty awesome. Orbiting Kerbin with an SSTO is another highlight.
  2. 6 meters per second? By KSP standards that's cutting it pretty close.
  3. As brutal as that was, I couldn't stop laughing at the look on Jebediah's face after the shuttle exploded. What a badass.
  4. Cool, but isn't 64 bit coming in 1.1 anyway?
  5. I'm using a mod that lets you turn ore into food, water, and oxygen for TAC Life Support. Cheating, maybe, but there's no way I could afford the mission otherwise.
  6. The new textures only work from a certain distance away. You may simply be orbiting too low.
  7. I'm still playing in 1.0.4, so there's just the one size of drills. And the spot I'm at is supposedly an 80% concentration. EDIT: Finally lucked out on a spot on my seventeenth try, 40 minutes before the Kerbals would have starved to death. Whew.
  8. I'm trying to mine ore on Moho, but every single spot I land at is apparently devoid of any ore whatsoever despite being right in the middle of the pink zone derived from orbital scans. I know the surface scanner is technically more accurate, but still, you'd think I would have found something by now in my fifteen attempts at surface hopping. Am I missing something super-obvious? Three Kerbal lives are at stake.
  9. Yes, many of the textures I use are several years old. DDS textures are generally better from a memory standpoint, but PNG and JPG still work.
  10. Put them in your Default folder and name them according to the guide in the OP. For example, you would name a Kerbin texture "KerbinScaledSpace300".
  11. If Elon Musk assumed that the industry knew better than anyone else how to build a rocket and didn't bother trying to come up with his own ideas, SpaceX wouldn't exist and we'd be no closer to reusable rockets than we were twenty years ago. Don't discourage people from trying new angles.
  12. SpaceX plans to recover their first stage on a barge during their Jason-3 launch on January 17th. http://www.nbcnews.com/tech/innovation/spacex-plans-drone-ship-rocket-landing-jan-17-launch-n492471
  13. I'm running into some frustrating problems during a Moho mission. The Poodle engine on a rather critical lander refuses to work without failing on the spot, even if I just serviced/repaired it. I get that the parts age faster as they're exposed to heat, but if I still can't use this thing literally one second after it's serviced, something is fundamentally wrong.
  14. The way I usually do it is to wait until Kerbin is at Moho's Ascending Node, then doing both the departure burn and plane change simultaneously. Then just do a retrograde burn at solar periapsis (or timewarp a bit) until you have an encounter.
  15. I sure hope it survives, because the potential applications are pretty exciting.
  16. This looks amazing. Is it naturally compatible with life support mods? Losing all my oxygen in a rapid decompression would be a chilling way to lose Kerbals...
  17. Maybe they're waiting until the initial hype over the landing wears down so they can renew it later on?
  18. Well, if you're only going to use it once... I think it's just different sides of the same rocket.
  19. I doubt an island that small could support an industrial civilization. And if they emigrated there from the mainland we probably would have found evidence by now.
  20. Any such "training" would be pointless anyway. They may be primitive, but they're still fundamentally human. If there are aliens out there, they're probably so different from us we couldn't begin to understand their motivations.
  21. If you do change it, please keep the originals up! I like having a colorful skybox, even if it's not perfectly realistic.
  22. You might have better luck posting this in the Challenges sub-forum.
