What do you spend more time on, airplanes or rockets?
I_Killed_Jeb replied to έķ νίĻĻάίή's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I spend a lot more time on planes mostly because they are a) slower and b) require a lot more testing/tuning. Rockets at this point for me are pretty easy, it's mostly a matter of balancing TWR and dV which takes little to no time. -
As we all await the long-considered KSP 2, I thought this would be a nice time for folks to discuss/dream/imagine what we are hoping the final release/update of OG KSP would look like. In some ways, even more than KSP 2 I'm excited about a stable, "final" codebase to be out there so that modders can do what they do best. Please share your thoughts/ideas/criticisms! As for me, I would love to see the following in the stock game- Clouds A very basic/fun/toggle-able life support system, like Snacks Better wheel/friction physics Better landing legs (in fairness has been getting better with recent updates) Some additional functionality in the IVA view What about you?

I am woefully unprepared to use gravity assists
I_Killed_Jeb replied to Reinhart Mk.1's topic in KSP1 Discussion
tbh the biggest barrier I have encountered in gravity assist are the small imprecisions built into KSP (possibly due to floating point errors?) -
This is amazing.

Rapier closed cycle, OP or in need of a Buff?
I_Killed_Jeb replied to KerikBalm's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This all seems like a very detailed explanation as to why the RAPIER is, in fact, a pretty well-balanced engine when considering the rest of the game.. -
I've been waiting for this exact hotfix (plus the docking port bug/craft assembly bug but I'm guessing it's a more challenging fix). I will be buying the DLC today, thanks x a million to the devs for their work
-
They're also helping inform purchase decisions, so I would argue they're not doing anyone a disservce, and quite teh opposite

I certainly don't doubt what you're saying is true, but the more reasonable explanation here would be that the forum-going Squad staff (devs, community managers) are not involved in the business/pricing decisions
-
this is why I'm holding off on a purchase, like all major KSP updates I'm gonna assume at least one hotfix, maybe two, are on the way

There's no way that's true. Steam can't just sell games for whatever price they feel like whenever they want, unless that was specifically agreed to by the publisher. Retailers actually don't usually get to set their own prices unilaterally, they normally enter into an agreement with the product's manufacturer/label that rather strictly delineates the kind of pricing they can set and under what circumstances, etc.

are the robotic parts (esp. hinges and rotors) re-entry capable in terms of heat tolerance?

Are we still pretending the wheels/legs aren't broken?
I_Killed_Jeb replied to Geonovast's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Oh OK that must be why SQUAD keeps trying to fix it, because it definitely isn't broken and everyone except the great jwenting has no idea how to build a craft Why wouldn't the fix apply to the existing craft? -

I_Killed_Jeb replied to Geonovast's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I might need to jump on this once I figure out how to set it up correctly It sounds like in that case you need to get better at the game. -
My first docking attempt in orbit ended with Jeb docking with the Munar surface...

autostruts are laggy as heck you can choose whichever you would like

No rush! Just figured a few folks probably have checked out if the current version is compatible -

has anyone been able to test if this current version works with 1.7.0? -
RAPIER engine drag in 1.6.1, with tailcone attachments
I_Killed_Jeb replied to fourfa's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Thank you for this. I've been sticking with the nosecones based on some anecdotal information, good to have confirmation that this is still the case. -
this is a bit disingenuous way of looking at it, I think the simpler and more intellectually honest determination is - do you think you may want to participate in a class-action lawsuit against T2 at any point in the infinite future? In my life I've been automatically part of several gaming related class action suits from which I've directly benefited - two against Sony (PSN, PS3) and a couple others that are now old enough that I don't recall (something about privacy I think). While I may not have derived a huge benefit, I did a little, and more importantly the "big guys" were forced to reckon with their misdeeds. To me that's enough to opt out of arbitration. YMMV of course

This is probably bound to be an unpopular opinion here where many favor the "more, sooner" approach, but.... I really wish the KSP dev team will consider extending the development cycle for these updates. 90% of the new development plan seems to be part refreshes with a small surprise feature polish/addition thrown in. I think they are honestly best served holding onto all of them and packaging into a single big update that drops every 6-9 months, even a year. First and foremost, it helps keeps the mods going IMO. Let's face it, this community is a shell of its former self, not surprising for a quite an old game. But this means there are FAR fewer people able to update mods, many of which I think a lot of us refuse to play without. A longer cycle will give them all some breathing room, some time to refresh/recharge. The piecemeal updates currently makes things look jankier because there are so many discordant art style at this time. Updating all the parts at once will give everything some uniformity which appears to a primary purpose of this current overhaul. Lastly, a big update pushed out infrequently probably makes a bigger news splash and thus able to generate more sales/return players. This is speculation on my part but I think big splashy updates sell better than incremental frequent ones. What say you, KSP people? * Yes I'm aware people can save old versions of KSP to play separately.

that's just, like, your opinion, man

we do it not because it's easy, but because it is hard
