  1. Yes, the most obvious things would be unique plants and animals, which may yield useful compounds for them. Spider Silk FTW! And sitcoms... Lots and lots of sitcoms Or they just may stay away in fear of our superheroes. SpiderMan FTW!
  2. Getting a toppled lander off the ground without shredding it:
  3. Yeah, I posted this almost exactly two months ago. Certainly puts things in perspective.
  4. Souvenirs. We have tons of them. "I visited Ghklh, knb (aka Sol System) and all I got was this lousy T-shirt!" Oh, and buy two T-shirts and we'll throw in the Kardashians (not to be confused with Cardassians).
  5. Reminds me of one SW book or another: 2 ships come into range and activate all their electronic measures and countermeasures, which all cancel each other out. It then devolves into a dogfight with the old reliable MkI Eyeballs
  6. I want KSP ported to my 70's era Pong console. You also forgot the Coleco Adam computer, Atari 2600, and Intellivision
  7. Is that the same chopper they used in the old TV show M*A*S*H? Or is it just similar-looking?
  8. I doubt it. The SES sats go to GTO, which leaves no margin for landing Actually, on the last landing attempt I don't think they hit the target that hard on the initial landing. But in true Kerbal fashion, it couldn't keep itself vertical
  9. Wow, I didn't realize this thread had been idle for over a month. That might be a record! Finally a little news, however. Falcon 9 Return-to-Flight NET November, probably launching SES-9, running up-rated Merlins and chilled kerosene. Link Also, the NSF forum link posted above by Albert VDS has more news on the Vandenberg landing site.
  10. Failed out of mechanical engineering at the University of British Columbia, back in 1990. Since then I've just been a grunt
  11. Lately my family of 5 has been shattering my ISP's bandwidth caps. I would really like to know where it's going, between 2 laptops, 2 smart-TV/BR's, and a pile of iCrap. I'm sure the biggest users are NetFlix and YouTube. My router is a Motorola/Arris SBG6782, which doesn't seem to mention SNMP monitoring (the SBG6782-AC does). I'm trying PRTG right now, but it's kinda complicated and probably overkill for my needs. I tried setting it up before I realized my modem/router doesn't support SNMP, but PRTG has a zillion other options to try. So if someone could suggest an easier way to track bandwidth usage on my network, or how I can set up PRTG in an easy-to-use, low-overhead way, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  12. KSP: Keurig Space Program. The MkI-2 capsule is shaped like a K-cup
  13. My wife's coworker was using the printer/copier/fax machine, and my wife was going to use the phone. Coworker says: "You can't use the phone while I'm doing this" Wife: "Are you sending a fax?" CW: "No, making a copy" Wife: "Then i can use the phone" CW: "I dunno, I guess...." My wife had a much-needed good laugh, and kept chuckliing about it all day.
  14. One way to know if your part count is gettin high is to watch the mission clock in the top left corner. When it's green you're good. When it goes yellow you're getting a little too high. If it's red you're in for a slideshow. Bear in mind this will vary due to many things, such as what is in the background (water can be bad) on your screen and how much stuff you have in orbit eveywhere. Another thing that can slow it down is if your CPU throttles down to prevent overheating. Somtimes I'd be playing and think "this ship isn't that big; the clock should still be green." So then I'd blow out the vents on my laptop with canned air and it would be full speed ahead
  15. I've seen it many times thanx to Nasa's "Spot the Station" emails. Spectacularly brilliant and pretty quick. Once it was even getting chased by a Dragon, and another time chased by Progress.
  16. As the great Alfred E. Neumann once said: "Help fight the population explosion. Support your local war!"
  17. I didn't realize there's a Ringworld in the Kerbol system
  18. At first docking was hard for me, until I learned how to properly fly the navball as well as a docking alignment indicator mod. Now the hard part for me is not overbuilding
  19. The caption that pops to mind when I see that pic is "Scientific Progress Goes 'Boink!'"
