[1.0.3/4] [Kopernicus] Community Star Center 1.0
Borisbee replied to Pkmniako's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I would caution anyone trying to use this. Seems really hacky for the above mentioned reasons. -
This is a remake of all the original PlanetFactory planets. It adds 1 gas giant, 8 planets, and 3 moons. I have created biomes for each of body, and have taken some liberties with Barney, Slade, and Joker as the original stars they were orbiting I decided not to include as I didn't feel it necessary and I think they were more examples than anything else. I put Barney in a far orbit around the sun, with Slade and Joker as it's two moons. I'm not certain I'll keep them there, but it will work for now. Some of you may notice there is no Moonar. I was going to include it as well but realized it was a rather poor quality planet and I think it was just a quick example thrown together by Krag so I decided not to include. I have done rather extensive testing on these planets and I think they are rather stable but may need some tweaking here or there. I have also tried to do my best to make them as accurate to the originals as I could get them. This has been many many hours of work involved with this project and I hope someone can enjoy the fruit of my labor. Requires Kopernicus found here https://github.com/BryceSchroeder/Kopernicus/releases/tag/beta-02-4 Download http://spacedock.info/mod/238/Sentar%20Expansion License is GPL

Might I suggest fully testing out each planet before considering it for release? I know it may sound crazy, but testing and making sure planets actually work would go a long way in stopping bug reports. When you are working on a planet don't just look at it from the map view or in orbit. Land on it, in several places, and fully make sure the planet is not bugged or acting weird. See if you can walk on it, test the gravity, ect. Once you know it's working as you intended then you should release, but not before.

Update Added Barney Added Slade, a moon of Barney Moved Joker to be a moon of Barney Fixed Scaledspace issue of Inaccessible Fixed timewarp Issue with Inaccessible Erin's terrain now matches scaled space and no longer uses a VertexColorMap Moved most png to dds This marks the completion of all planets I plan to add. The only one left would be Moonar but it's pretty bland and I think only served to be an example planet so I'm ignoring it.
-
Yea I'm going to leave Inaccessible as it is. I had ideas to try to use KAS to get on it as well. If you're only interested in Inaccessible you can just delete the other planets from the download and edit the config to change it's orbit.
-
I didn't like how bumpy it was, so I changed it so look more like the original.
-
Working on Erin today, got the terrain fixed so that it no longer uses a VertexColorMap. Preview pic of the new scaledspace below This should match the terrain exactly so no weird terrain differences as you fade in to the PQS view.
-
Thanks! Yea I always enjoyed Krag's planets because they seemed to fit in so well with the stock planets and when it comes to planets I prefer them to be stock alike. Ablate and Erin have given me the most trouble. Ablate due to it's scaled space issues, and Erin because it's hard to get the terrain correct.
-
Ok I think I fixed the issues with time warp and scaled space not matching up for inaccessible. I'm going to wait to put out a fix for now as I'm pretty tired and been working on this pretty much all day and I want to fix a few more things before I update. Probably be tomorrow - - - Updated - - - I tested on Erin and I got normal water but my altitude was 0. I guess I will need to go look at more spots in Erin to see if there are any spots of water above 0 altitude.
-
Wasn't aware of the issues on Erin. Will have to add them to the TODO list which is seemingly getting bigger and bigger
-
I've seen that issue before but not sure what causes it. It doesn't just happen with this mod though, other planet packs have had it happen as well. Also I think I know what the cause of no time warping on Inaccessible so maybe I can fix that later. Also I notice some scaled space issues not lining up correctly *sigh*
-
Yea I need to tweak the time warp limits of some planets I think
-
Yes it is, it's what Skelton had.
-
I put Joker in a retro-grade orbit around the sun for the time being. I plan to move it to a moon of one of the other planets once I get them added in. As for DDS yea that's probably in the works. Comet tail is a no. I wanted to keep them as close as possible to the originals which is why I kept the ridiculous rotation of Inaccessible. That may need to be tweaked down slightly if no one finds it possible to actually land on it.

With the help of ThomasP, lead dev for Kopernicus, I would like to announce the long awaited Sentar Expansion. We have recreated the original 9 planets from Krag's PlanetFactory. This is an early release as I do not consider it done and it still needs a lot of work, but I think it's ready to be play tested and seems stable enough. Many hours of work have gone into getting this where it is now and I hope someone can enjoy the end results. REQUIRES KOPERNICUS Download Sentar Expansion Known Issues No stars are added as I find them still to be buggy with Kopernicus Ablate scaledspace doesn't exactly line up with PQS view. This is hard to get right due to limitations in the way flatten works Probably lots of other small things Future Goals Add resources Need to add science to all Planets Need to add biomes to all Planets License is GPL

[1.0.5] RSS Planets & Moons expanded v0.12.0 Sedna is finally here!
Borisbee replied to pozine's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Just popping in to say I see in your screenshots that some of the terrain can be a bit blocky. Good news is you can fix that by playing around with the PQS maxLevel parameter. Try adjusting it much lower to smooth out your terrain and get rid of any pixelation or blocky step-like terrain. Really small bodies should have maxLevel fairly low. -
Everyone should be using this version of Kittopia if you are running the latest Kopernicus. It doesn't have full config saving yet, but has other features that the version in this thread does not, such as realtime Material editing, and file browser for adding textures to PQS mods. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/129186-WIP-KittopiaTech-a-Kopernicus-Visual-Editor
-
Also, for future help you may want to post in the Kopernicus thread directly. You're likely to get way more help that way as it is frequented by more people. Oh and as for your problem, are you not using a template? I don't recommend doing that unless you really know what you are doing.

This thread is highly outdated. All support question for Kopernicus should be posted in the Kopernicus thread if you want help.

[1.3] [Kopernicus] New Horizons v2.0.1 [2JUN17] - It's Back!
Borisbee replied to KillAshley's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'd just like to give a shout out to SETI for anyone who is looking for a better techtree. It's balanced for probes first and supports quite a lot of mods. The author is also pretty active on development and balance. I'd recommend giving it a try if you are unhappy with stock techtree. -
[1.3] [Kopernicus] New Horizons v2.0.1 [2JUN17] - It's Back!

MapDecals are already possible. I think you mean PQSCity. However I think you could use Kerbinside or Kerbal Konstructs (not sure which one) to add static objects to planets until Kopernicus implements PQSCity directly. -
Just wanted to say I'm a big fan of this planet pack. Only downside is only Dhar has biomes. I hope you get around to finishing the rest of the planets with biomes so we can call it "complete" but I know you're busy. Kind of a shame this pack doesn't get as much attention as the other packs because in my opinion this one stands out.
-
Just wanted to let you know that as of this writing, your pluto/kharon planets are bugged to hell. For one your config is wrong, they are pointing to heightmaps in .png format but they are .dds. After I fixed that, trying to land on the planet got all screwy. Land disappeared when I got close, didn't bother doing any tests to figure out why.
