Hi, nice and complex one! I suggest to allow KAS to make the refueling easier and more fun. My question is if somebody build one base with turists mission and later add another bases and tours will it add up the points for him?

Hm, it looks like this rule needs some more defining. I meant that at least 5 Kerbals has to go on the mission and each of them are trained for landing and doing science on his specified moon. But they can use the same lander, even the same science package if they have a Mobile Lab which will be landed back at Kerbin. So, I'm going to rewrite the rule like this: - There's not enough time left for training one Kerbal for all the moon landings, so (at least) five Kerbonauts are needed for the mission because each of them are trained for piloting and doing science on his specified moon. They can use the same lander at every moon. There can be more Kerbals during the landing as passengers, of course. Is it more clear like this?

parzr: Congratulations, you have finished the JOOL-5 Challenge on Jebediah's Level, with distinction because of landing 6 Kerbals on all the moons! I really liked your solution to land the Hitch-Hiker's Unit and the Science Lab with 6 Kerbals everywhere. At first, on the launch pad, this mission looked like a nowadays popular "go big and something will happen anyway"-style one but I quickly realized that this is different. I was surprised to see SRBs on the lander but that was a unique idea to lift your very heavy lander from Laythe, and later on Tylo you dropped the heavy fuel tanks/engines too and went on Vall and the little ones with a more proper sized lander to the size of the HH Unit + the Lab. I liked this idea! Only thing what was confusing me is the engines left in space between Laythe and Tylo, it was not clear at first what you dropped and what you used to push the lander forward... once you have only two orange tanks and later more then two... but I realized that you used one of the tanks as an "orbital tug" and then dropped. Landing back at the launch pad is also a nice achievement. That was a really good job and a well-planned mission, thank you for participating!

Hi, I suggest you to link only the imgur album here. It's like [ imgur]ABCDE#0[ /imgur] where ABCDE#0 is the imgur URL part of your album. So if I would like to link this album: http://imgur.com/a/1EWoP#0 then it would be 1EWoP#0. That way you can upload much more pictures and you will not flood the challenge. I also ask you to upload some more pics because some of your mission is not clear for me from these pictures. Otherwise looks good and HUGE, I'm looking forward to see your mission in more details in an album!

http://imgur.com/a/s9Woz http://imgur.com/a/PGJId http://imgur.com/a/aZzdGIf I was to do this again, I think the biggest thing would be Action Groups. I was toggling engines and solar panels everywhere, and being able to do them all at once would have lowered my personal anxiety level. Also, might as well have used Stock Rebalance v3- compared to V2, it nerfs reaction wheels but buffs RCS- I had plenty of RCS fuel and being able to use it for propulsion would have stretched my Dv a little furthur. I enjoyed the challange and probably wont be touching KSP till .24 now. Rakaydos: Congratulations, you have finished the JOOL-5 Challenge on Level 2! HAHA, I really liked as you refueled after the Vall-Bop-Pol leg using the claw! And yeah, that was close... And wow, that's a huge ship again... these new parts made it very easy to build a heavy lifter rocket. Your lander is massive too, when I was watching the pictures I was thinking about that you should have used some nukes on it too beside the normal engines, so it would have been more fuel efficient in space. And you could change the engines with Action Groups. Yeah, I know you said it would be the biggest thing for the next mission... Thank you for your participating! And have a nice time without KSP, I'm sure you will be back someday...

My problem is that you used Kethane which is not allowed for the original JOOL-5 Challenge. That's for stock parts only, or for very stock-alike mods if I allow them. And that's the same for the Kethane version too... you used some kind of fuel/engines which gives you huge advantage (KSP Interstellar, I guess). I still can link it into the Kethane Freestyle but then please write some more information about the mods you used and your mission on average, what I can link there.

Norcalplanner: Congratulations, you have finished the JOOL-5 Challenge on Level 1! (It's a level 1 because you have landed only one Kerbal on all the moons, not 2 or 3). That's a really detailed Mission Log! Hm, and you didn't use the Kethane ships, right? (that would disqualify you from the original JOOL-5 Challenge ) What was your intention with those ships? Thank you for participating, good job!

Kadrian: congratulations, you have finished the JOOL-5 Challenge on Jebediah's Level! wow man, that's a HUGE ship!! It's so big that when you were aerobraking at Jool it's upper part didn't get hot because it was out of the atmosphere... (picture) And this is the biggest lander I've ever seen for this challenge! I usually like good optimization with mass/fuel but I like how your main ship look like a real big exploration vessel. Question: how did you turn back your lander from upside down position during descent to Laythe? Yeah, I saw you went for the maximum science and that's strange that it's "only" 17271 points... maybe you gathered science during hyperedit testings before the real mission? Anyway, nice mission with the huge lander... not the most optimized on mass but unique and good looking solution for sure! Thank you for participating!

But remember that you will need to get your lander from the mothership to the ground, and from orbit to back again. My first, not 100% optimized mission had a dV map like this there: 3. from Mothership to Laythe intercept: 250 m/s 4. Laythe 60km orbit: 940 m/s 5. Laythe landing: 800 m/s (from orbit to a landing path, then parachutes + braking) 6. Laythe ascent back to 60km orbit: not sure (I think at least 3000 m/s) 7. Laythe orbit to Mothership: ~950 m/s

Stratzenblitz75: Congratulations, you have finished the JOOL-5 Challenge on the JEBEDIAH'S LEVEL WITH A GRAND TOUR!!! I really enjoyed your Laythe pictures and all the others were fun too. The vehicles are very well planned minimalistic ones. I'm still studying your mission log, there's a lot of information and fun out there. And maybe the first Grand Tour with one launch only? And it may be a new record for science points too! btw I was planning a lvl1 low-mass mission since march but didn't have much time to make it happen, but fortunately it's on the way some days ago and I will finish it soon and will post it too. There will be some additional surprise and I guess a new minimalistic low-mass record too! (I usually don't have too much time to scan much of the other forum topics so maybe not, I will see) thank you for your participating, I've never thought there will be an other contender for the JEBEDIAH'S LEVEL + GRAND TOUR too soon! Well done!

Hi, in my perspective the whole mission should be done within one mission from Kerbin and back (the main ship can be put together in Kerbin orbit by multiple launches). I allowed refueling only if somebody get stuck at the end of the mission then it could be a big disappointment to him after that much planning/flying, so to avoid this. But with refueling this mission can be done much more easily so it's not as a big achievement as normally. But on the other hand your idea is not bad. So if you don't go on the novice way to "put a lot of huge fuel tanks and big engines together and it will be done with some refueling anyway" then this can look good. So I allow this as this is similar to a rescue refueling mission... but make sure that you plan the whole mission very fuel-wisely!
-
I'm sure that SRBs are not a good idea at Tylo. You can experiment with them and it would be a solution never tried before but it would be less efficient. By the way the best way to land on Tylo is to start from about 10km orbit and keeping the vertical speed low (so not falling faster) and being close to the ground when the horizontal speed reaches zero.

bobcook: Congratulations, you have finished the JOOL-5 Challenge on Jebediah's Level! Well planned (except at the end) and big mission so yeah, I can get over the fact that you didn't bring a PresMat Barometer to Laythe (KSC commander: WHAT?!? Now we have to send back a probe for that!) Everything looked good in your mission summary, and I liked that you have sent two Kerbals to all of the moons, that's not general on Jebediah's Level. That's also nice that you have brought back all the science instrument. But seeing the similar landers, you could have used docking ports and less landers, no? Maybe two: one for Tylo and one for the others... but anyway, nice mission. That was funny at the end that you didn't have enough docking ports so one lander started to go home on its own, but needed refuel half way from the main ship, which became a simple lander change to go back... unique problem solving, good job! Thank you for participating!

hsteffano: Congratulations, you have finished the JOOL-5 Challenge on Jebediah's Level! Wow, you did not use any mods, not even MechJeb or KER? I liked that you have landed on the South Pole on Laythe but it takes more fuel to get back to the main ship, ain't it? The refueling at Duna from the abandoned ship was funny. That's a luck there and a creative solution. Nice one, thank you for participating!
