[11/26/15 Update] Say Hello to the Light-Green Group!
BagelRabbit replied to Endersmens's topic in Kerbal Network
Ooh, look! I have a placeholder here now! I'll use this placeholder to do two things: 1) Thank Endersmens for the help. I really appreciate it, sir! 2) You may have noticed my beautiful badge in my signature. It looks like this: If you have sufficient +Reputation to use this badge of honor, simply copy and paste the following into your signature: [NOPARSE][/NOPARSE] ...and you, too, can "Say Hello to the Light-Green Group!" Anyways, I'm off. Bye for now, everyone! -
The F3 Flight Results are a bit inaccurate. This post on this very-similar thread shows an attempt I made a while back, in which I pulled 315 g's. Since then, I've figured out how to regularly exceed 2,000 g's of force and land safely, with some slight modifications to the design shown on the thread. For some reason, though, the after-flight log inevitably shows G-forces way, way lower than the Double-C Accelerometer.

I just want to come in and say that calling Pluto, Ceres, Eris, etc. "Dwarf Planets" isn't the best terminology. Dwarf stars and dwarf galaxies are still considered stars and galaxies, respectively, yet dwarf planets aren't planets. I understand that the little guys really shouldn't be considered planets, but surely there's a better designation for them. "Minor Planets" maybe? Or "Special Planets?" ...then again, the term "Asteroid" means 'starlike,' and asteroids are as far from being stars as it gets. The only reason that they were called asteroids is that they initially couldn't be resolved, and looked like starlike points. I personally think that they need to be renamed too. I don't mind Pluto not being considered a planet, as the science behind it is sound, and if it was considered a planet, several dozen other objects would also be considered planets... but I do think that there needs to be a different naming scheme for solar-system objects.

Kirrim's not the only one with a cutesy designation. At 0:33, Chris [Hadfield] Kerman has the designation #CSA2 (Canada Space Agency) At 0:36, Scott [Manley] Kerman has the designation #YOUT for obvious reasons. At 0:50, Edlu Kerman has the designation #NA5A. Not sure how "Edlu" is associated with NASA, but maybe someone smarter than me can figure this out. At 0:54, Kurt Kerman has the designation #YUT3, also probably a reference to YouTube. (Kurtjmac) I never noticed this before, though

MINMUS is out!! (I finally did something on-time, aren't you proud of me?) It's pretty nice. I pumped up the reverb to an extent that everything just keeps going and going and going. I used guitar in this one, but it's so affected by the reverb that it's a little difficult to tell what it is at first. Also, the entire violin solo is in 9th to 11th position, so that's cool. The mic is the standard one that comes with any MacBook. Generally, I change up the EQ so that the bass is way higher than it should be and the treble is quite low... this seems to help with the cool little overtones and the general tone. I also generally add reverb and a little echo, to varying extents. And, of course, layering tracks always helps. TO ALL WHO HAVE SENT ME PM'S: I will put you to work with JOOL. I need as many musicians as I can get for that one. In the meantime, expect work either with MOHO, KERBIN, or MUN. Thanks. Sorry that I haven't been replying to these, I'll try to PM you back in person as soon as possible. Bye for now! I'm going to get some sleep. I'll put out the mp3 in the morning.

SSTOs! Post your pictures here~
BagelRabbit replied to KissSh0t's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Here's just a thing I've been working on: Plover mk4 Minmus-return capable, not too complicated (67 parts; two action groups), pretty nice-looking and flies well. .craft file coming soon -
Hooray! I really should be working on this more... I've just been really, really busy. I'm actually thinking that I'll work on MINMUS next, as I've come up with a good theme. I'll work on it Soon, maybe as soon as tomorrow but I can't be sure. Anyway, thank you much Sal_vager!

Vagani Car Manufacturers- Get Inspired- Final Challenge
BagelRabbit replied to Vagani's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Meh. I already have probably been disqualified, as I lost interest in this competition after the Pillbug performed poorly on Minmus and thus really didn't do any of the challenges. It's a shame, too, as I created a plane specifically for dropping off the Kerbswagen: (I may still do a video explicitly for this part of the challenge, but probably not if it won't count for anything.) -
The Three Bridges Cup!
BagelRabbit replied to BagelRabbit's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Added you to the leaderboard, sorry for the delay there. I had to watch the video twice to make sure that the wheels weren't touching the ground at any point, but it looks like you're in the clear! Very cute blimp, by the way. -
Ah, good ol' Nassault. I've been a huge fan of your work since 'Jeb' got featured on the KSP weekly. This film is just gorgeous. Thank you so much for making your videos. Is that little bit of music at the very end (10:26-10:45) deliberate? If not, you may want to consider trimming it with YouTube's editing service... By the way, I would be happy to make music for one of your upcoming videos. I've been tremendously inspired by the works of BoC and the other songs that you've used in your music, and I'm currently in the midst of creating music for all of the planets in-game (check my signature). I could really make just about anything you wanted. Thanks for your consideration -Upsilon

Sorry Andrew, but you've been beaten to a Eve SSTO. (not by me though, so I can't take all credit) That being said, I'm definitely going to make a video on this in the near future... stay tuned

KAMG (Kerbal Aesthetics Military Group) Request
BagelRabbit replied to Polar Explorer's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Here, have my cutting-edge VTOL fighter jet: The THROMGORD mk2! It VTOLs beautifully (and is super maneuverable in VTOL mode), it has twelve missiles, it looks nice, and, most importantly, it's Viking-approved! This thread has more on the THROMGORD, including a video and the craft file. Let me know if this works for you! -
The Three Bridges Cup!
BagelRabbit replied to BagelRabbit's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I have faith in you, Spacepigu! Good luck creating a stock blimp... I'm sure it can be done with enough wings and control surfaces. If you do manage to do this, I'll probably add a "Blimp Class" onto the leaderboard. You definitely would deserve recognition for this achievement. By the way, this competition is still open, if anyone wants to enter -
Video for the Plover mk4 is up! Unfortunately, as a result of the additional RCS, this thing is no longer capable of anything better than Single-Stage-to-Minmus-and-back... unless, of course, you refill it in orbit. Still, though, it's pretty cool. I'm going to post the Dropbox link and the stats on this on the other post in a bit... but for now, the video's nice too, amirite? Stock aero, of course. As soon as I post the .craft file, though, I would love for someone to test this in NEAR/FAR. I kinda want to see how well it works with different aerodynamic renderings. Let me know what you think of the video, and thanks for watching

Okay, I finally have enough courage to create a "Reserved" post. I want to tweak these guys and add descriptions, but for now, here's some teaser images to build up the Hype! S-4 "Stubby" - For Best Craft with Mk3 Parts Isn't this one cute? It's a good, stable design that's easy to fly, but it's currently only barely capable of getting into orbit. Working on that right now. Plover mk4 - For Best All Stock Parts Spaceplane I'm really proud of this one, as it is capable of Mun return despite its modest profile and relatively low part count... and it looks pretty nice too It's very nearly done. Anyways, that's what I'm working on right now. I'll post the .craft files when I have them.

Post your pointless creations
BagelRabbit replied to Roflcopterkklol's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Half of the designs shown so far are more useful than anything I've built in weeks. Here's a bird. Well, no, it's a plane. Actually, it's... oh. Sorry. Getting carried away. ...but yeah, it's a bird. It's kinda small, but it took a while to make. It VTOLs, too! -
The Debris Series [Now Taking Requests!]
BagelRabbit replied to BagelRabbit's topic in KSP Fan Works
Thanks for the bump. I needed that. Kookoo_gr's drawing still needs a lot of fleshing out, but I've got the bare bones down... It'll probably be done in a couple of days, but again, I'm not promising anything. I'm taking calculus this semester, and it's really giving me a hard time. -
I'm currently working on a small SSTO, that is basically an Mk3 cockpit with an Mk3-Mk2 adapter behind it. It flies on two RAPIERS (maybe going to change this), it SSTOs pretty well, and it is pretty stable in all layers of the atmosphere and at all fuel levels. It seems like a promising design. However, I'm not entirely sure what I should enter it in. It can't carry many crew members or cargo, it doesn't have that much fuel on-orbit, and it can't VTOL. I don't know if it's really applicable for "Best Use of Mk3 Parts," because it only uses two of them. It's not all that pretty, although it does have a "cute" sort of vibe... What to do?! (By the way, I would post a picture, but Imgur hates me and wants me to die. I'm pretty sure that you can picture the general design of the spaceplane, though. I'll edit in a picture if possible, later.)
-
Heh. This thread has had so many necro's now... it's kind of funny actually. I've gotten into several other animal-shaped craft since this one came out. Perhaps the best one I've made recently is this: ...which looks like a bird, flies like a bird, and VTOLs! It's pretty nice, and it's quite small. If enough people are interested, I'll post the .craft file.

What you see is a product of the iffy joints in KSP. This problem has been relatively well documented, especially with the infamous toroidal fuel tanks. To give you a sense of how bad toroidal springs can be, I will now shamelessly promote one of my videos. (Sorry.) Generally, short squat bits in high numbers will cause this. You can strut the thing extensively to solve the problem, or you can just use different parts. (I would personally recommend some long structural connectors with battery packs on the outside of them. It's worked for me.) By the way, unless you're trying to fire an enormous cluster of ion engines, you probably don't need that much ElectricCharge on any station you build. Just a heads up.

totm oct 2023 Post Your Cinematics Here! (Cinematic Enthusiasts)
BagelRabbit replied to Halban's topic in KSP Fan Works
Not filmed in KSP, and not even very good, but a "cinematic" nonetheless. Presenting... What Really Happened to MAVEN! Sorry that I'm posting this everywhere on the Forums, but it took loads of work to make, and some people seem to like it. [EDIT: By the way, how's work coming on your new Grand Cinematic... and have you decided where my music will be in there, yet? ] -
Vagani Car Manufacturers- Get Inspired- Final Challenge
BagelRabbit replied to Vagani's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Dang. I've missed out so far because of the incredible* video that I was making for MAVEN's orbital insertion burn. *incredible-ness not guaranteed What Really Happened To MAVEN! Anyway, now that it's out of my system, I'm probably going to post a video tomorrow about the Pillbug's epic journey to Minmus, and the various stunts and tricks that can be done there. -
Beep. By the way, here are some things that you may not have noticed about the animation: >Not only is our intrepid Kerbal (I think he would probably be Bill in "real" KSP) taped onto MAVEN, but he is held in place with "Space Tape." Yes, I went to the trouble of labelling the stuff. >The orbital insertion burn was a little short in the video, but that's just because I didn't want to have a thirty-minute-long shot of MAVEN slowly firing away at the thrusters. >I was originally going to have Bill screaming as MAVEN deorbited, but I don't have adequate lung capacity to scream at the top of my lungs for ~8 seconds. >Believe it or not, I did the "Beep" sound effects myself. I know. They're so realistic, right? Traditional stop motion is a pain. I'm not entirely sure if I'll ever do it again. But hey, this project seemed to turn out alright.

Hello! For those of you who didn't watch MAVEN's orbital insertion burn, or who wanted it to be more Kerbal, presenting: What Really Happened to MAVEN! Let me know what you think... I'm going to sleep now
