  1. They all died doing what they loved, knew the danger and were willing to take the risk. They probably wouldn't want everyone to dwell on it, but definitely to learn from it.
  2. I'll be at the Rolex 24 the last week of January, I sure hope the Falcon Heavy ends up launching during that time!
  3. Have you ridden in a Tesla? There isn't a Ford made that comes close to the comfort, performance, and attention to detail in the Tesla. They are unbelievable inside and even more under acceleration. Just mind-blowing. As for being green, I am a huge petrolhead and always will be, but if I had the money, I would absolutely own a Tesla.
  4. And deprive those men on the moon of the greatest view in the history of mankind?
  5. Here is a animation made with a C14 telescope. Just unbelievable. Saw this on Cloudy Nights.
  6. I am going to drive southwest from Louisville a couple of hours. Just hoping for clear skies.
  7. The only race my mom ever attended was the 1965 Indy 500. So Jim Clark won all the races she ever attended!
  8. Hunter Thompson was the only one I have heard of, and mostly because he is from my hometown.
  9. F1 has been a bit better this season than the last several. That is a good start. I'll be going to Indy for the GP this weekend, then on to the 500 at the end of the month. Always a great time in Indy!
  10. About 13 billion light-years.
  11. I've been playing Squad for a year or 2. The sounds are amazing! I've had goosebumps several times after hearing an RPG whiz by my head or a bullet right by my ear.
  12. I bet I don't know anyone that would understand that first shirt. Never heard of that monster or author. I have heard of Nye and Degrasse-Tyson, of course, but I have never seen that fake running mates logo.
  13. Buzz Aldrin (or another moon astronaut) Carl Sagan Jim Clark Ayrton Senna My mom's grandparents
  14. Hey Tater, you actually took a class taught by Jack Schmitt?!?! Could you please start a thread with some info about meeting him and maybe some cool stories you heard from the source? It would be awesome! I am really trying to meet at least one of those 12 heroes.
  15. Jeez, what a great story!!! Mostly what I get is: My computer is running slow, can you fix it? I say: give it a reboot and let me know if I need to come over. Them: I can't reboot, I have 40 word docs and 25 emails open! Me: There's your problem.
  16. Yes, tungsten is hard, heavy and very brittle. Darts are almost all made from tungsten now (alloyed with nickel at 80-95% due to brittleness). Titanium is very light. I wore a titanium band and liked the feel of it. I had a friend that wore a titanium band, he worked as a saleman in tools for factories. He said once that he screwed up and had some kind of welder arc across his ring. He was told that if it had been gold, he may have suffered severe burns that could have cost him his finger.
  17. My Mom was an ER nurse for decades. One day Neil Armstrong came into the hospital with his ring finger "degloved", nearly ripped off. He had caught his ring on a nail when jumping out of a haywagon.
  18. I spent hours and hours playing this game in high school: stupid Orcs!
  19. When I saw the OP's first shooter, Impossible Mission came to mind (although not a shooter). I can't believe you mentioned it. It was great! I can still remember trying to jump-flip over those robots! I had a Commodore Vic-20, games on a cassette tape drive. I can't really remember what they were. Commodore 64, I loved playing Summer Games and Test Drive. Man, that was a long time ago.
  20. Can't expect to have a clear night and have everything work well on the first night!
  21. That was Waylon, not Wille. I couldn't wait for The Dukes to come on every week.
  22. Honestly, it hit me hard when Jamie Moyer retired from baseball, leaving me older than every player in the Major Leagues, NFL, NBA, probably every major athletic sports team in the world. My dreams of becoming a pro athlete are officially over. (maybe I will give the Senior PGA Tour a shot)
  23. I'm on CN, mostly in the classics forum. All of my scopes are over 30 years old.
