Introduction I have decided to abandon a previous project and make a new one. I've decided to do something that, no one that I know of has ever done before. A YouTube series and text, all in one. It will be succeeded by my friend @The Minmus Derp's upcoming fanfic, set about 200 (Kerbals live super long, that's like 2 months to you) years after Seeker (which ends in 2200). I personally think that Lucida Sans Unicode is a much smoother font than Arial, so it will be used prominently. At the end of every book, there will be a notice in Comic Sans (see below) This ends Book Sixteen - Test. Next coming soon! In spoilers below are snippets you may like to read. In the post below are sneak peaks of future chapters and authors notes. This is basically a bunch of mission reports ( e.g. K.S.S. Salvation ), an R&D ride (movie sets), and a fun thing. It will be a few "books" long. Thus, without further ado: Book One - Rescue. (note: links are provided for ease of reading) Very important authors notes below. I use 1.4.2, some features shown in Project Seeker may be outdated. PLEASE NOTE VRY IMPORTANT Table of contents: Book One - Rescue Prelouge-here Prolouge-here Chapter I-Holey Moho!- Here Chapter II - The KSS Salvation - Page 1 Chapter IV Hey, don't forget the Salvation!!- 1 Episode 5 - The K.S.S. Firestar - YouTube/Page 1 Chapter VI Enter Stellala. - p1 Chapter VII - Waitwaitwait, we're rescuing who now?? - p1 Chapters 8 and 9: A Ghost's Lamentation - p2 Chapter 10 - The Rescue of Natallian Kerman (or On With The Show!) - p2 Chapter 11 - 'Twas the Night Before The First Day of the Rest of Your Life Book Two - Mystic Prolouge - She Was Alone Supplementary material: Prelouge: In the begining, there was Eden. Eden was a beautiful planet, with lush hills. Creatures called "Darbels" lived there. But eventually, Eden was decimated by TX and Eden's highly toxic moon, Serpent crashed there. Some Darbels fled, some to unknown regions, some to Kerbin, where they shed their purple toxin-resistant skin, some to Duna, where their scales turned blue, to protect from the harsh cold, and the remaining population of Eve sealed themselves in a pocket universe, living in eternal peace. Prolouge: And now, 90,002 years after the decimation of Eden, Kerbin is thriving. There is a ship called the K.S.S. Inspiration on its way to a Jool Aerobrake, and another called the X_X_X_ XXXXXXXX orbiting XXXX. Sadly though, not all Kerbals support Kolinization. The X_X_X_ XXXXXXXX is the XXXXXXXXXXXX of the XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXX XXXXX. XX, XXX XXX XXXX XXXX, life is good. worm·hole ˈwərmˌhōl/ noun noun: wormhole; plural noun: wormholes a hole made by a burrowing insect larva or worm in wood, fruit, books, or other materials. PHYSICS a hypothetical connection between widely separated regions of space-time. Chapter 1: Holey Moho! Gene Kerman walked into Tracker room 01 of the KSC Tracking Station. The little Mystery Goo inside twisted itself into a shape that, very clearly asked "Hiya, Gene! Whatcha doing here?" It was creepy and uncanny how Goo could say exactly what they wanted without talking. "Hi, Goo," Gene said. "I got bored, so I walked in to check on the mission status." "Well, then, don't let me bother you!" the Goo ... twisted? said? expressed? "I'll flash a warning on-screen if anything happens," the Mechanical Jebidiah unit in the room said. " 'Kay, Jeb. Now, let's see..." "Oh, yes, um, Jeb, zoom out, activate instruments." "On it!" "Deactivate notifications." "Show Relays, Probes, Ships, Stations. Then zoom out, switch to holo-mouse control." "Alrighty!" Hmm, Gene thought. Where's the Tracked Objects list? "Jeb? Where's the Tracked Objects List?" "Huh. Um, main computer, where's the Tracked Objects List?" "Huh," a new voice said, presumably the TSMC. "KSC Central, have you any idea where the Tracked Objects list is?" "Hmm," the voice of the KSCCC said, "I don't know..." The whole room fell into silence. If the KSC Central couldn't figure something out, no-one could. Then Gene spoke up, addressing all the computers in the room, the Goo, and all the workers inside the TS at the time. "Well, --" "GENE, THERE IS A VERY LARGE OBJECT INBOUND TO KSC TRACKING STATION!" "What the Kraken?!!" "RUN!" And Gene ran. I promise, the Seeker Project is very far from over... (I know it made no freaking sense but it will be critical to the later story) Jump to Next Chapter

Hey all, i was wondering how to edit / alter the texts displayed during EVA reports or when collecting surface samples, since I don't really like the standard ones - I'd love to write them myself. Has anybody got a clue how to customize those texts? If possible, without requiring any coding skills :D Thanks in advance :)

I have been playing through a career game started in KSP 1.2.x After the 1.3 update, Kerbal names no longer appear in the text. Instead odd symbols are present which I guess are in the source file and are supposed to be replaced at run-time. All the Kerbals are now named: "<<1^n>>" That's not a weird code, that's the name as it appears on screen. In addition there multiple choice substitutions that appear such as: "Ferry <<n:1[/%d]>> <<n:1[a VIP]/tourists]>> safely to <<n:3[destination/destinations/destinations]>><<n:4[./and back./ and back.]>>" for contract text. Looking in KSP.log I see the related error message (long paths have been shortened to $KSP_ROOT): [ERR 01:28:04.883] Couldn't open $KSP_ROOT/KSP_Data/Plugins/x86/liblingoona.grammar.kerbal.so, error: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `CXXABI_1.3.8' not found (required by $KSP_ROOT/KSP_Data/Plugins/x86/liblingoona.grammar.kerbal.so) I gotta say, it's pretty impressive that the game is still playable even when a shared object flat out fails to load. Nice work Squad! Two questions: * Does anyone know which version of libstdc++ implements the ABI listed above? * Is there any reason that the 32-bit version of the game should be launching instead of the 64-bit version when both are present? I have screen shots if needed, thanks for the help.

This is very handy, so you can copy and paste in the content of your GameData folder quickly, rather than creating a screenshot. Just keep in mind, that this may not show all mods, as some mods just create cfg files inside other folders as is the case with scatterer and EVE configs, or texture replacers for instance. Also, some mods have patches that change how other mods behave, SSTU is a good example but there are others. If you have CKAN installed then simply go to File menu->Export installed mods... This creates a KSP CKAN Mods Export.ckan file which really is just a text file like the game config files. Otherwise... Few notes: This will create a simple text file containing the listing of the directory. You will be able to open it and just copy and paste the list into a forum post. In both cases, Mac and Windows hidden system files are not shown, but we don't need them for this. Both files and folders are included in the list. The list will be alphabetical and will ignore the Windows "folders first" directory listing convention, so that may throw off Windows users. There may be other ways of doing this. How to create a text listing of a folder's content and save it as text so it can be pasted or emailed? Windows Go to the directory you want to list. For example, GameData to list all your mods. While holding the SHIFT key right-click inside the directory. Select "Open Command Window Here". In the command window type the following and hit ENTER: dir /b >directory.txt There is a space between "dir" and "/b" then space after "/b" again. This will create a text file called directory.txt in the same directory. Explanation: - dir lists the content of a directory - /b makes the output bare, i.e. without all the dates, sizes and permissions as we only want the file ad folder names. Mac Open the Terminal If you know how to, then change to the directory you want to list. Otherwise, find and open the Terminal.app Start typing cd then hit space then drag and drop the directory to the terminal window and hit Return. (example if I was listing my Dropbox folder I would drag and drop the Dropbox folder and see this: cd /Volumes/Storage/Kerbital/Dropbox). Do not miss the space after cd! Now type in the Terminal ls > ~/Desktop/directory.txt. Again, pay attention to spaces, there is a space after ls and after > This will create a text file called directory.txt on your desktop. Explanation: - ls lists the content of a directory like dir does on Windows - as opposed to Windows, ls output is bare by default.

Isn't there a mod out there that can display a simple notepad-style textbox ingame?

Windows, 1.2.0.1586, 32 bit, some mods (Kis, Kas, ScanSat, TweakScale and such, also Engineer v1.1.2 https://github.com/CYBUTEK/KerbalEngineer ) At the space centre, I can see the missions all right. But when going into VAB and SPH, the text is only visible sometimes. When you hover over it, it typically is visible part of a second, then dissapears. Clicking on the icon, right clicking on the icon, or moving it slowly off, then on again, will perhaps show it again for a part of second, or, if I am lucky, it suddenly remains visible, mostly to dissapear again when I move my mouse, but sometimes the text stays visible 'normally'. It takes about ten, twenty seconds to try to get the text to remain visible. NOT funny when building a ship. AT ALL. This also happens with the engineer report. Driving me crazy.

I am curious, with the discussion on new fonts/font rendering in the upcoming KSP v1.2, is it possible to drop in an alternate font into the game? The reason I ask, is I happen to have the font "Futura" on my system. Thanks to the research I've done for my custom Kerbal game controller, I've learned that NASA used the Futura typeface on their instrument panels in the Apollo program (and I believe on the Shuttle also). Anyway, I got the font, knowing I'll need it for my controller build. It'll be a desk mounted instrument panel, with real meters, indicators, joysticks, toggle switches, and even a real navball! I wanted it to feel as authentically "spacey" as possible, hence the reason I'm using the font NASA themselves used. Now, I know the font used in most of KSP's text is a san-serif font, much like Futura. What I'd like to know, is whether or not there's a way to get KSP to display it's text using a different font. Whether this can be done by replacing a font file somewhere into the KSP files, altering some file to reference a different system font, or whether a mod can be used to alter the default font, I'd love to know. I just REALLY wanna see what KSP looks like with it's primary font rendered in Futura (and matching my "cockpit" styled controller!

Hi everyone! I have a very strange problem: I upgraded to 1.1.3, and many texts don't appear on the screen (you'll see the problem in the screenshots below). I tried both updating from my older version (1.0.4) with all the mods, and also installing from scratch in a new folder. In other words: a fresh, "virgin" installation also fails. This happens both in full-screen and "windowed" mode. I'm posting the details and screen captures below. Can anyone please help? Did anybody have the same problem? Thanks in advance, Tirs KSP Version: 1.1.3.1289 Linux 64 bits (purchased, not demo; also, I'm not a Steam user). What Happens: Many texts and graphics are not shown. Mods / Add-Ons: None (fresh installation). Steps to Replicate: Install the game from scratch, run it. Result: Many texts and graphics are not shown. Fixes/Workarounds: None. Other Notes/Pictures/Log Files: OS: Linux 4.4 LinuxMint 18 64bit CPU: AMD FX(tm)-4300 Quad-Core Processor (4) RAM: 15996 GPU: Gallium 0.4 on AMD TURKS (DRM 2.43.0, LLVM 3.8.0) (2048MB) SM: 30 (OpenGL 3.0 [3.0 Mesa 11.2.0]) RT Formats: ARGB32, Depth, ARGBHalf, Shadowmap, RGB565, ARGB4444, ARGB1555, Default, ARGB2101010, DefaultHDR, ARGBFloat, RGFloat, RGHalf, RFloat, RHalf, R8 You can find the screenshots in the link below: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/s4brw1zjylchcps/AAAgj9PPtPry2ivI5p25GaKHa?dl=0 NOTE: I took the screenshots using my update with all mods and saved games to have more data to show, but the problem is EXACTLY THE SAME with the totally fresh installation. A few comments on the screenshots: 1.- This is the "Settings" menu, accessed directly from the welcome screen. 2.- I put my two saved games in the "saves" folder before starting the game; however, they don't appear. But if you click on the empty space where the savegame should be, you can actually load it (that's how I could go to screenshot #3). 3.- As you can see, some of the texts do appear. For example, in the KSC screen everything looks normal. 4.- At the VAB, the enhanced picture of the selected element is missing. Also, the "More info" text (right mouse button) is also missing. 5.- I cannot see the KSPedia at all. However, there is something over there, because clicking at random places changes the title bar. 6.- The Science Tree is totally empty. Hovering the mouse over it, however, shows the flyover texts, so the tree is actually loaded. You can also click on the nodes (if you find where they are!)

This mod adds a black outline to text on maneuvers. This should make text much more readable when it overlaps bright spots like the sun, and it should especially help when using mods that add clouds to Kerbin like EVE, SVE and lighting mods like Scatterer, or if you just have bad eyes, like me. It works fine in 1.1.3 Code was supplied by xEvilReeperx on the KSP forum upon request, edits, compilation and uploading was done by me. Read nodes easily while using EVE, SVE and/or Scatterer (or when KSP implements clouds): Objects are easy to read, even at bad angles while using Scatterer: It even works in the tracking station: Download at CurseForge Download at SpaceDock Dlownload and check out the coding at GitHub

I find myself somewhat frustrated that I can't use ASCII characters, such as the basic accented letters (À/à, Á/á, Â/â, Ã/ã, Ä/ä, Å/å, Æ/æ, Ç/ç, È/è, É/é, Ê/ê, Ë/ë, Ì/ì, Í/í, Î/î, Ï/ï, Ñ/ñ, Ò/ò, Ó/ó, Ô/ô, Õ/õ, Ö/ö, Ø/ø, Œ/œ, Ù/ù, Ú/ú, Û/û, Ü/ü, ß are the ones most reliably compatible across all 3 major OS platforms, I think) It'd be nice to be able to actually name a spacecraft "Mün Lander" or have a kerbonaut named "Jürgen Kerman" or "Zoë Kerman", for example. Would Unity 5 allow for this in KSP v1.1 or one of the later revisions of 1.1, at all? This issue is not a new one, it was reported as far back as v0.19, as these three bug reports show. It'd be nice if Unicode could also be implemented, as Unity 5 does support it, and I know that full UTF-16 is unlikely anytime soon, but simple UTF-8 would make a huge difference by letting us use accented letters and such in naming our spacecraft and our Kerbonauts.

Hello everybody, Since yesterday in one of my savegames, a lot of text doesn't show up. It are mostly the grey buttons, like EVA and IVA, the delete, merge buttons in the VAB, flagtexts et cetera. Some of the buttons still work (for example the EVA and IVA buttons), but some of theme I can't press anymore. I hope someone can help me. Jonatan
