I now have a Prom date!!! What did you do for your Prom?

I just asked a close friend of mine out to Prom this year with a few roses and she said yes! I'm greatly excited for the dance, and I'm wondering what you did for YOUR High School prom, if you're up for sharing.

My week has been made.

Thanks for the read, and see you all later.

Didn't go. Haha my prom was last week but I've never had a boyfriend!

(But it's not because I'm not pretty I totally am, I just have severe social anxiety, depression, mild autism, and ADD)

Congrats. You asked, you received, and now you can have a chance to do something some of us didn't get or didn't take. Respect it, enjoy it, cherish it. If I may:

-Be formal (as in dress formal, whatever you can reasonably afford)

-Be civil

-Be gracious, not adventurous

-Be yourself. If you are honest and genuine, the memory will be far better in your future than if you put on a show.

And be sure to have fun! :)

Heh, I tried asking someone to Prom, but they didn't want to go, nor their friend. Oh well, I'm just gonna skip this one and attend my senior Prom instead :D

Nothing special - I just asked a good friend. Prom isn't such a big deal where I live (well, at least when it comes to partner invitations), which is good, because I wouldn't have had a partner if it was :D The prom itself was kinda meh, what made it a really enjoyable experience was that we started dating shortly after this invitation, so I wasn't really focusing on the prom but more on her :D

Anyway, congratulations - I hope you will enjoy your prom as much as possible :)

We don't have anything like prom in the uk. ...

Same here in germany ... and I actually didn´t miss it ;)

Instead we have something called "Abischerz" (Abiturial Prank)

That means there is one day after he final exams, where the graduating class has one day to block entrance to the school for everyone ... with entrance only being allowed for people who are able to pass the fancyful barricades that have been erected (and with a party being held in the main assembly hall for people of all grades, who manage to pass the barricades). (with pupils of the graduating class usually already having been partying since the day before :D )

I didn't go to mine either. My father was career military and we moved during the middle of my senior year. New place, no friends, so did what geeks back in the 1980s did... opened PCWorld magazine and programmed the newest game in AppleDOS on my Apple II GS.

Never went to the 6th year formal. Was something like £60 for a set menu meal with nothing good on it. My mates who did go didn't stay for very long then went to KFC in their best suits. What lads.

60 Pounds is 90 Dollars. Here in the US, for that kind of money, you can go to a medium-class restaurant, have a menu with many choices, and get food that you like.

Also, on the prom thing, I abhor and despise dancing and romantic gestures. I don't even want a relationship. Use your own judgement on my stance on the whole "prom" thing.

That. Sounds. Amazing.

Haven't had anything to do with these so-called "social" gatherings (;)) but we'll see about next year. Maybe something will happen...

We´ll, we got a new principal last year: No entrance blocking anymore! No alcohol anymore! No confetti anymore! No big party anymore! The only thing happening were the graduating pupil giving out bread in the hall. :(

I now have a wonder: What is Kentucky Fried Chicken like in the UK? I know McDonalds puts out some pretty funky "american" food that they don't have here (Like burgers with barbeque sauce and mayo).

Prom: Got lost trying to get to the place, ended up at a truck stop asking for directions in a tux while my date looked patently worried. Afterwards it was raining it's tail off and a friend ran off the road into a ditch, had to go help him out which ended up taking until about 2 in the morning. No fun times with date. :(

Oh, that reminds me :D The class and I were ordered to arrive at the prom one hour sooner to help with some stuff and practice for the ceremony. So while my girlfriend got to ride with my family in a car, I had to go with a tram. As luck would have it, about halfway between two cities, our tram hit a car on an intersection. No major destruction, but if it wasn't for that one random guy who happened to live nearby, recognized that I was in a hurry to the prom and was nice enough to offer me a ride, I wouldn't have made it.

My highschool was small, but we had a prom.

I stayed up really late. Looking through some telescopes with friends. It was not really prom-like, but I have never really been one for that sort of thing, anyway.
