Yes.

Generally the mod in question posts, or if they don't want to necro post, edits the OP. When that doesn't happen, we can check who did what to the thread by hitting "edit thread" under the special moderator-only options, which has a log of everything moderator-related that happened in the thread including approving moderation queue posts.

Hey, that's cool. I didn't know we could do that.

For mods that have been here a long time, what percentage of threads (obviously a rough guess) actually contain content that hasn't been posted before? You know... original content?

I imagine after awhile its like refreshing reddits frontpage; you know all the content just by glancing at it, but on occasion something new pops up to keep up your interest.

I'm not confident enough to put a number on it, but yes, after a certain amount of time, you do tend to notice that certain topics and ideas have a sort of "life cycle" where someone will start a forum thread on them, the thread becomes popular, then it starts to lose steam as most of the more active participants have already said their piece and move onto something else, whereupon the thread slips off the front page and the topic lies still until someone starts a new thread (or revives the old one, though we generally don't encourage people to do the latter frivolously past a certain point because information often becomes outdated).

(I've also been active on enough forums for long enough to know that that sort of phenomenon has existed much longer than Reddit has. Most forums tend to have certain major discussion trends that get rehashed and refined over time.)

I'd like to make an edited Career save with everything unlocked and lots of funds that I made available for download, since there may be people like me that like Sandbox but don't like the restricted Mission Control, RnD, Admin Building and science instruments, thus saving the time needed to edit the save file and filling the research tree. Or is that not allowed?

That's fine.

Is there any way to see how many people are subscribed to a thread? Thanks!

No. The thread in and of itself does not keep track of which users are subscribed to it; the various users' forum accounts keep track of what that user is subscribed to. If that makes any sense.

That makes perfect sense, thanks again for the info!

Ok, but where do I post it? Spacecraft Exchange?

I'd go for maybe general KSP discussion?

I believe it would qualify as an "Add-on Release." I also believe that things like this (i.e., things that aren't mods) are exactly why that forum is called "Add-on Releases" and not "Mod Releases."

Hey, the title of the thread is 'ask the moderators,' not 'ask the non-moderators.'

[...]

Sorry I couldn't resist. It was just sitting there. ASKING to be answered.

And Mad Rocket Scientist started it!

True, I did start it. But I knew the answer! (Well, I heard it on april fools' day, but that doesn't make it less true.)

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but is there any reason why the sticky Forum Rules thread shows it's been "moved?"

Convenience, it saves a click when going to view the rules. There is only one rules thread (for the obvious reason of making them less tedious to edit), and we used to have a sticky thread in each subforum containing a link to the rules. So you'd have to click that thread, then click the link. Now we have a redirect in each subforum instead, clicking that redirect brings you right to the rules in one click.

Ah, I see. Thanks!

My evil idea,

Although people like to think us Mods are omnipotent, I got sick of having to click thew the rules posts to see them ;)
