"Eve: Order Zero" -- a KSP Graphic Novel (POSTLUDE COMPLETE...bet you didn't see THAT coming.)

Recommended Posts

You can bet Val's locked out everything that can be locked out using the prefix code. But if Bill did use some trick to get control of a working ship, and Jeb pulled off some crazy stunt (say, hooking half an abandoned BattBot and an abandoned LV-N to Alouette) that let them go anywhere in the Kerbol system-- where do you think they'd go?

I would say that they would burn to a sun-grazing hyperbolic orbit to get to Kerbin as fast as possible ( and possibly before anyone expected them ;) ) and try to rally support to deal with Mort and co. Anyway, that was not my point: I was saying that there is one of the detainees that has literal and canon reality altering powers ( not that long ago we seen him transfering objects through solid walls, right? ), so it looks wierd to me that Val is not tying him up with every piece of rope and duct tape avaliable. Just taking the oxidizer out IMHO is a very soft security measure ...

What if Valentina's plan IS to help them, in any LITTLE way possible?

Well, the operative question is really "Where would they go?" No force in the heavens or on Kerbin could stop Bill from getting to Eve to rescue his friend. Now that's done. If there were a good motivation for Bill and Jeb to do something other than return to Kerbin and face justice, I agree that nothing short of Val cocooning them in duct tape inside a dead capsule would stop them.

Anyway, in gameplay this morning Mortingale has just finished its Hohmann transfer burn for Kerbin, while simultaneously Kranefly is about 12 hours from Kerbin SOI (yes with the M7 orbiter still attached and both prisoners aboard :P). I'd really like to do a study of these opposition burns, maybe figure out a calculator/prediction method--it really did not cost a lot to do it, and wow it saved 200 days getting home!

*sigh* Do i really need to remind everyone, that we are talking about Bill and Jeb here? Y'know - good guys? Heroes? Not some goatee-stroking renegades. And this fic was from the start about friendship, selflessness and doing the right thing - not about system wide crime spree. I don't know what Kuzzter has planned - but i expect Bill and Jeb to behave with integrity expected from Kerbfleet officers.

Dres seems nice. Let's go there!

But first, a title is needed, one that involves space potatoes.

(Meaningful Content Below)

If worst comes to worst, Jeb and Bill could start their own space program. Who needs science?

Maybe the audience (we :D...!?) should wait for the next update from squad, i really don`t think Kuzzter makes any decision for a another story unless its fleshed out, and the trial contains surely unconvenient consequences for the Kerbfleet employees... or is this a naval exploration command? Maybe they spend the next years at counting boulders on dres surface, for sience...

Maybe Dres? Everyone got hyped on that a while ago.

Well I'm not hyped for it. You really want 20 pages of Jeb and Bill messing with dresteroids? Maybe you do! I dunno.

Thank you--I was beginning to wonder whether such Deeper Themes were worth the effort. Glad someone's been paying attention :)

Actually your first statement in that post was also "meaningful" per Forum Rule 2.3a. Not that I don't love my awesome thread count (it's like Egyptian cotton in here, yo!) but I love my readers too, and I wouldn't want anyone to get warned or cited for a post with no "meaningful content" as described in that Rule.

Wouldn't that be perfect? "Your punishment for violating our GRIND directive and going after science... is to get more science!" Well, they have to get convicted first don't they? Trial coming soonish!

Well, IF someone is to blame for the Dipperkraft *issue* ;) , the blame falls squarely on Herr Doktor and ultimately on Mission Control ( in other words, Gene ). It is not that there isn't written evidence that Gene disregarded concerns on the feasability of the mission profile by the most senior space engineer of Kerbfleet ...

In fact, the big elephant in the room is not Jeb's barratty, but the mutiny of most of Ground control, enough to make a alternate KSC operational against orders. If Jeb and co are going to be on trial about the illegal mission to Eve, then EVERYONE from Herr Doktor to the people on KSC 2 ( including Gene ) at launch time ( except the poor tourists ... has anyone brought them home or they are still stuck there? ;) ) needs to be on trial as well. If that is the case, our author might need to build a BIG courtroom :D

There's a Kerbfleet General Order saying that no court case may exceed the RAM limits of Kuzzter's computer.

This bears repeating:

[...]it might surprise you to know that there is no General Order--canonical or otherwise--designed to prevent stupidity, negligence, poor design, boneheadedness, nincompoopery, dereliction of the senses, or, to put it it more generally, being kerbal.
Well, technically, Jeb confessed barratty when they were launching, remember? ;)

Technically he did not. He merely defined the term for Mort's benefit: "Actually, when a commander steals his own ship..." is not the same as "I, the commander of this ship, have stolen it."
