"Eve: Order Zero" -- a KSP Graphic Novel (POSTLUDE COMPLETE...bet you didn't see THAT coming.)

Recommended Posts

Amazingly, the starboard one never came off at all--that's the one in front, behind Jeb in the lower panel (any landing you can run away from, whistling, is a DAMN good one!) The port engine is definitely off in both images, you can see it offset from the ship a bit. I've since recovered the contiguous parts of the M7, about 1200 science aboard, but then again it's just from one biome.

Meanwhile, Jeb cools his heels in the brig waiting for a Gliido to come down with the rest of the team. He got 25xp for this trip and is now at *****! Definitely the most qualified pilot in the whole cell block!

I see that now, I punched up the brightness and contrast in the second crop.

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Kuzzter again."

I think i am what is commonly considered a "Fanatic"...

Yes i am. Confessed.

Keeping things moving while I build the courtroom set and play with textures. In related news, if anyone knows how to delete a feature like the helmet interface ring from a (helmetless) IVA suit please PM.

The magnifying glass doesn't seem to help, but there sure are clues!

You do know you can zoom in too, right? :D

I see serious jailhouse for Jeb. Or a serious lawyer. Or serious treatment for mental ill.

He'll definitely get a lawyer. But a serious one? That's asking too much :)

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Kuzzter again."

Awww, thanks!

Good thing i made a cup of tea 'after' reading the last chapter - or i would surely made a mess on the table and laptop's screen after seeing duct-taped Bill :D Yes. I believe Teh Tape is the only thing able to stop Bill from messing with reality - after all, it's of the Force and it keeps the Universe together

So, Bill uses magic to "edit the persistence file" (not that that ever happened :)). He's tied up in a chair with duct tape. Shouldn't he be able to get out? No.

Of course duct tape works in a near-vacuum. Duct tape is magic and should be worshiped.

Goodness, that's two out of three things in your signature that've appeared in this comic so far. We must be of a similar wavelength (though I hear tinfoil blocks all such wavelengths very well :))

So, Bill uses magic to "edit the persistence file" (not that that ever happened :)). He's tied up in a chair with duct tape. Shouldn't he be able to get out? No.

Scotius / St. Mark Watney aside, Bill is very careful to only use his strange 'engineering' powers in cases where, (1) something can't be accomplished any other way (2) it's not cheating per my (Kuzzter's) personal criteria (3) it makes the story/game more fun, not less fun. So if Jeb needs to break the M7 free so he can crash land it at KSC2 and get back in the Fundstar? No force on heaven or Kerbin can stop Bill from doing it. (though note, he did NOT use any 'persistence warping' to exit the cabin and unlock the docking claw--there's nothing in the game to prevent that happening, keeping Bill in the cabin was purely self-imposed) But if there's no story-driven reason for Bill to escape his hastily-drawn bonds, then he stays in his seat to face justice.

No joke, I made a tinfoil hat yesterday. STOP READING MY MIND KUZZTER!!!
Bwahahahaaaa.. the posts are coming from... INSIDE YOUR HEAD!

Yay, Tedus! He broke the streak, despite me zooming out and around to get that shot of the Gliido coming in when he was only 500m off the deck. It's really a great little plane, I hope the 1.0.5 version does as well.

Special thanks of course to Dman979 for his valuable legal advice--many of the arguments you're going to see in Bill's and Jeb's defense actually do come from him, which is why he's been Kerbalized and commissioned a JAK Junior Looty!

I'm going to try to make Mort's collar transparent and see how that works. If it doesn't I'll just hang a lampshade over it. (note to self: install KIS so I can literally hang lampshades on things) Next time--opening arguments!

Congratulations Tedus!

Also congratulations to Dman979 for being kerbalized immortalized by Kuzzter.

No offense to Deeman, but it figures that Mort is a lawyer. I should have known his 'dark side' had to come from somewhere. :)

Hope you find a way to deal with those helmet rings.

Happy landings!

Been looking forward to this, I love a good courtroom drama.

So, is the Kerbfleet court like what we know of a militairy courts from the movies? And are there any special "very Kerbal" laws or regulations (like causing a lethal accident by adding Moar Boosters not being a criminal offence)?

I'm not telling you all the rules in advance (*I* don't even know them all in advance!) to leave myself maximum story flexibility. But in general you can assume that [Courtroom Movies/TV] is to [Kerbfleet Courtroom] as [space Movies/TV] is to [Kerbfleet Missions]

Mort...is a lawyer. *twitch* That explains a lot. *shudder*

While I am unable to comment on the competence of the prosecuting attorney, I would like to point out how precise the contract system can be. Do you think that any Kerbal- even a BadS one- could come up with a system that devious? I rest my case.

Also congratulations to Dman979 for being kerbalized immortalized by Kuzzter.

None taken. Not all lawyers are Sholes- I know a few very good defense attorneys that fight against overwhelming odds. I present Colonel Dax- Exhibit A, Vincent Gambini- Exhibit B, Lt. Daniel Kaffee- Exhibit C, and Juror 8- Exhibit D.

However, be wary of Mort pressing libel and slander charges.

It all comes down to whether the weather is nice, and whether or not Jeb did one of the following:

-Signed a contract w./ Kerbfleet including clauses for mutiny, in which he would be subject to fines and the like

-Kerbfleet is a federal organization and has its own laws

-Broke a Kerbin law, something like negligence or drunk driving (piloting?) However, this may be overruled in favor of saving them from Eve

At most he'd need to pay out-of-pocket for lost profits and contract violation, and he'd lose his job at Kerbfleet. At best, Mortimer gets sent to Dres (next story, Kuzz!) and lawyers are abolished.

Reminds me of a bit from The Titfield Thunderbolt (funny Ealing comedy made in the 1950s). Two railwaymen have got drunk, stolen a steam locomotive and driven it off the rails and through a town:

Policeman (completely deadpan): Drunk and disorderly, taking away a locomotive without owner's permission, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving an unlicensed vehicle, careless driving, ignoring pedestrian crossing, failing to observe traffic sign, causing ash and/or sparks to be emitted on highway, driving the wrong side of road, failing to report accident, malicious damage, excessive noise, inadequate lights, defective tyres...
