Oh, I just watched round 10. Now IÃ‚Â´m really sad . And I really think countermeasures should be more effective. In 0.8.3 one or two countermeasures made your plane unhittable, and now 5 chaff and 4 flare droppers are not enough? ThatÃ‚Â´s very sad IMO. How many should you spam?

I use 8, and the problem is that the stormwind doesn't turn enough. The radar missile works by:

Firing

Getting a lock

Finding the plane's velocity vector

Aiming at the vector

(chaff will remove the lock, with enough it will confuse the missile(that is like 10 pods))

If the plane doesn't turn then the missile explodes where it predicted the plane to be and thus where it is

If it doesn't turn enough, the blast gets the plane

with a significant direction change, the vector isn't picked up again if chaff is deployed

the missile then misses.

I had 2 chaff and 2 flare and it worked perfectly.

Sidewinders work by doing this:

firing

getting heat lock and predicting plane's location

Flares attract missile

missile goes to flare

without flare, missile hits

But how can I make the plane turn more (I have steer factor 20 and it can do 15g+ with manual steering)? Also in the battle vs. the Heatwave it turned a lot and the missile still continued chasing it.

I think that there is some RNG there. That and BD has implemented radar signature, so it is easier to hit large planes.

Also, you are all permitted to protest the results of a battle if you think that it is unfair or biased in any way. If you do, I will examine the video with the aid of another person involved(probably evstaman or colmo), and determine if a rematch must be declared.

Actually my MIT can turn harder but the AI doesn't want to. That might be one of the many reasons that it lost.

You can, but currently there is a tournament running so you will have to wait for the next one. (In one or two weeks).

My damping was turned down to something like 2.5 to 2, it won't be too much, right?

it shouldn't be. A plane can only turn so well. We had some good missile dodges in the heatwave vs GoldenHawk match.

Also, I turn on instakill so that way a gun hit if it does happen is actually a kill.

Well, the differences between 2 v 2 and 1 v 1 is greater than I though...Congratulations Alphasus, your GoldenHaawk did a really good job. Now I should go back to SPH and start designing better planes. Let's see how will my heatwave perform in the losers bracket.

It should do quite well I think. The planes in the losers bracket are similar to the heatwave.
