AaaaaAAHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHA

g22veUV.png

I finally did it. I even had over 2000M/s left over after the initial orbital insertion!

Anyways!!

Harder Solar System x3

Fight me, SSTU is bae.

Right here my good man. And uh... he kinda put CKAN up to me but I haven't figured it out.

Thank you. I use CKAN for most of my modding but I can deal for this mod. Its a small price to pay, slipping a folder into GameData. I also will try SSTU. Sounds like it will be bae. Hehe

@VenomousRequiem: What did you do? Get a SSTO into orbit? If so CONGRATS!!!

Yes!! But in stock KSP. I want to try with HSS x3. That's going to be... next to impossible. I mean I'll need like 7500 M/s deltaV

What about a Skylab series of parts?

With the way he said it, if he does Apollo this'll probably come along with it.

Small update here - @Jso sent me some numbers for the rebalanced Titan parts and everything looked pretty good! My volume/fuel/mass ratios were off in a lot of places so it looks like we may have to go through everything and do some tidying up, but the end result will be that everything in the mod should match the stock balance almost perfectly.

Yeah, they seemed generally over powered. The SRB burn is longer than just one main fuel tank

The main engine isn't supposed to ignite until the SRBs are almost done with their burn.

Yeah, ignite the main engine whenever the SRBs have 10 seconds left in their burn time.

I'm having some problems with the Inon Decouplers since the last dev release. The attachment points aren't the same as they used to be/don't work and neither do the engine fairings.

I noticed the problem when trying to attach to the Inon Engine Mounting Plate/Inon-75 engine (either one engine or two). Previously, an engine fairing was generated that lined up correctly with the fuel tank.

Here are some screenshots.

Sorry about that - The new node placement is near the top of the mounting plate, at the bottom of the dark grey rim. The interstage should attach there.

Heh, so it is. I could have sworn I tried that.

Thanks for the quick response!

That had me scratching my head too. Could probably use a mention in the part description. You can't see the node the fairing is supposed to attach to.

Do you think you could make a video explaining how to piece together all the components for the different launchers? I have been just attempting to make them but don't know the exact order. Also just realized that Windows 10 has a free 3D Builder! :D:D Gonna try it out.

As a fellow Windows 10 user... the Windows 3D builder is not very great.

I know how you feel. I get a little lost looking at all the tanks. It's not a video, but here's one I know how to build.

Wow thanks! I also feel like there should be a small decoupler for the LES and Hermes Science Antenna Unit? What if you dont need it? How do you ditch the extra weight? I always find myself using the procedural decouplers. I do appreciate this diagram though!

The LES has a built in decoupler. And the parachute decouples the science unit when it's staged as well. No excess weight needed!

Important Edit-

Consider this the last call. Anything you want that involves the Titan family rockets that we don't already have planed, speak up. We'll probably make it if you want it. So far, we've got the Titan IV tanks and the Titan Transtage. If there's something that isn't that that you feel like you want, please, please let us know.

If requests are open, then the Titan with two segment SRMs:

titan2seg.jpg

And some form of properly thrust aligned SRM (either the UA1205 or the SRMU [because of the different nozzle on the SRMU this might work) that can be used in the Stick configuration:

Titan Stick source (from Mathematica Economic Analysis of the Space Shuttle System Vol. II)

Also, if possible, a domed tank top for the 'Baby Centaur' high energy kick stage (NTRS document with diagrams). It could probably reuse a lot of existing textures.

Blender and Wings 3D are the two big free programs that people around here use. There are a lot of tutorials available to learn how they work.

I have received a lot of requests recently for craft files or otherwise some sort of guide for how to build the canon versions of the rockets in this pack. I, uh, don't know how I'm going to do about that.

I asked Venom to post because I didn't think I'd be able to post today. But yes - if anyone has any more Titan related parts they want to see, please speak up. The remaining Titan family parts that we're due to receive:

  • Transtage
  • Titan IV fuel tanks
  • Fairing bases for Titan I, II, IV

I likely will not be doing any sort of widebody (2.5m) Titan, including the Barbarian engine, in this update. It is a possibility for the future, but doing that basically would be the start of a new project. I'm looking to finish Titan, not expand it. I was just curious if there was something important that I'm missing. :)

Transtage_1.jpg

On the topic of Transtage - how do we want it made? FASA made it as a sort of monolithic part - fuel tank and engines in one part. I don't know if I would like to do that, or have the tank be unique (with the two extruded fuel tanks) with two mounting points, similar to Centaur. Or if the bottoms of the fuel tanks should be made part of the engine, and then include the fuel tank with the checkerboard pattern.

Another note for this post: @Jso has been helping (read: doing everything) to bring the balance of the mod in to stock standards. We'll need some help testing to make sure everything still, y'know, works. We don't want Atlas-Mercury to be unable to make orbit, for example. Some time in the next couple days expect to have a dev update for testing. This, combined with some more part revamps and some tech tree balancing, means that it will be a save breaking update. Also, everyone thank him if you get the chance. I'm not good with numbers so this is a godsend.

Final note - I'd like to put together a big album of screenshots for this update. I want to see some Titan porn. I'd like to share it here, and possibly on Reddit, in the announcement post for when Titan is released. All the screenshots would be attributed and/or linked to their poster. I want to see both canon versions of the rockets, as well as whatever crazy stuff you can come up with. Mix and match whatever you want. Feel free to use other mods, but try to keep them to a minimum or at least make it easy for me to note what they are. I don't want a rocket to be, say, 50% Tantares parts or something because then people might see it and be confused as to what they're getting if they then go to download BDB. Anyways, that's me for today.

Cheers everyone!
-CW

@TimothyC I didn't see your post before I made mine. I would definitely like to include the baby boosters (they're adorable) and will definitely look into the stack versions of the SRMs. On those diagrams, do I see that there are two TVC tanks? The SRMU never actually received a different nozzle... I, uh, wound up not having texture space. I might be able to sneak it in to the texture sheet for the Titan IV tanks, since that doesn't have extra bits such as decouplers, which took up room on the other sheets. Also, what is the AKM upper stage listed on the leftmost TItan?

The Baby Centaur might get made when I take another look at Centaur - I have about 2/3 of a texture sheet after doing the new interstages.

On the note of the SRMs, do you (or anyone) know what the actual offset of the thrust vector was on the radial boosters? Right now I believe they're about 4 degrees which seems a bit much. If I reduce them slightly they would probably be more realistic, as well as more efficient. Also, what was the decoupler mechanism like for the SRMs? I've been wondering if I need to add a new one to support the Titan parts.
